This video really demonstrates how much Metroid has evolved over the years. Or devolved in the case of the last two games. Thankfully, Dread was back to normal.
When the Metroid dies, it passes on an attack called the Hyper Beam, which is later referenced in the Metroid Prime series and is also utilized again in the final boss fight with Metroid Prime when you step into pools of Phazon with Samus' Phazon Suit, it charges her beam up and is able to damage Prime. The game also refers to this attack as the Hyper Beam. Also note, Metroids feed on Phazon energy normally, so it could be the source where the Baby Metroid got her power when she transfers it to Samus.

Not gonna lie, as a kid I spent weeks trying to beat Other M because I didn't realize you just had to point to MB in the background, as always those pointing parts in Other M were clustered with too much stuff and required high precision, and in this one you had monsters directly in your face (literally, it even starts like a bossfight, I thought I was supposed to kill them all!)

@Flavio Arrigoni should've been metroid prime: other m. :)) The other m took place before metroid fusion but i always wish it was not about the dead of adam malkovich, it must have told the origin of Samus and everything going on with that then.
It always amazed me How Super Metroid did a narrative without words. After Samus explains everything to you in The start of The game, there is no dialogue. Yet, you know everything the last Metroid (THE BABY) wants to say since he stoped attacking Samus, you know How angry Samus was when fighting Ridley and finding that broken Glass. You Just Felt The Metroid dying going in Samus direction. No words. Just actions and feelings.
I still remember getting super metroid, donkey kong country, links awakening, pokemon red having never played either and yet being so excited..29 today..
As far as I remember Quadraxis was purely mechanical. Technically MB shouldn't be here either though because she's an AI with an android body and no organic components.
everyone's talking about how cool it is when the baby metroid sacrifices itself and samus becomes super strong, but i'm here feeling it's even more iconic when mother brain's first form is defeated, it drops to the ground, you think it's dead, and suddenly it rises out of the ground and WHOOOOP WHOOOOP WHOOOOP WHOP-WHOOOOP imagine being a kid back then and seeing that for the first time-
Kraid is the series awkward child, they kept pushing him away from 3d games and he only appears in 2 games ( zero missions is a remake so it doesn't count)
I’m one of the few who doesn’t judge or dislike Metroid: Federation Force just for not including Samus as the main character. But what the hell was that final boss!?
I loved Other M because of the gorgeous graphics, awesome enviornments,Samus had a narrative&storyline as well as other voice actors, and the classic arsenal, but Other M's MB boss was so pathetic (not to mention the serious lack of Metroids you could kill)...like...all you had to do was lock onto MB (Or Melissa) and wheee...you beat the game...compared to how difficult the Queen Metroid was,it was insulting to call MB a "final boss"...and im sorry, but Phantoon did not count as a final boss for me in that game.Phantoon was just an extra in my book.
When i first played Super Metroid as a kid, i thought these things Samus were fighting against were like Xenomorphs, flesh-eating instincts-driven monsters that go bump in the night. The monstrous roars and shrieks they make really don't help either. Turns out they are highly intellegent and fully capable of communication, diplomacy, and rational thinking. Despite looking and sounding more monstrous than Xenomorphs, they're more like Klingons than Xenomorphs. The Metroids are more like Xenomorphs though.
For a game with almost zero dialogue, Super Metroid always managed to be incredibly powerful for me with that Mother Brain fight. That's a hell of an accomplishment.

What did you expect an Other M 1 and an Other M 2 then? XD
I really hope they bring back the original terrifying mother brain from super Metroid in future games.
dont think they will, as that was the true destruction of MB
Time to update this with the Dread Brains
Well, that was Nintendo back then.
Blood in Mortal Kombat? No way! That's too much for the kids!
Fighting a horrifying giant, cold eyed, drooling and bloodcurdling screaming creature with bone shards coming out of its brain while playing highly disturbing music? No problem!
"Bro! Do you remember BRAIN from Metroid?"
"Who the heck is BRAIN?"
Well then, what about Mother BRAIN?"
Oh yeah I remember that one!
@ 7:40-8:25, Samus Aran: "Mother, Time to Go!". (Metroid: Other M Reference).
gypsum555
I'd much rather pretend Federation Force doesn't exist.
G. Wilson WHAT THE--!?
WHY DO YOU HATE THE GAME SO FREAKING MUCH!!!!!!!😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤
Not gonna lie, as a kid I spent weeks trying to beat Other M because I didn't realize you just had to point to MB in the background, as always those pointing parts in Other M were clustered with too much stuff and required high precision, and in this one you had monsters directly in your face (literally, it even starts like a bossfight, I thought I was supposed to kill them all!)
I love how The Mother Brain in S. Metroid left her 69 energy
Funny number
*HMMM*
Details 😊!
Super Metroid was easily the most epic one.
the super metroid fight and metroid prime 3 corruption are so great and damn intense, sweating at the end !
When I saw the super Metroid mother brain fight... My. Mouth. Would. Not. Close. That thing is nightmare fuel... And I love it.
07:32 Sounds Like Mothra From The Godzilla Movies
Nintendo used the same audio from it
I KNEW IT! =D
MK1MonsterOck1989 ...backwards.
I miss metroid prime
e3 too the rescue!
fuzzbuster007 Me too, good game if you ask me.
Andre Hernandez the timing and written words of the comment make it seem as if you either only liked prime 1 and not it's sequals or don't know prime 4's announcement exists.
raging raptor prime 4 is comings for the Nintendo switch actually,it was confirmed by Nintendo!
*Its sad when you destroy a ring with a suppermissile because it was on the door*
:'v
The moment you realize you don't need any super missiles by the time you fight through it, and get the Hyper Beam which absolutely wrecks everything. Also, you only have to hold the shoot button down once. The Hyper Beam is in automatic. :P
Super metroid is masterpiece of a game but I loved metroid fusion even more. It's one of my favorite games of all time.
just the thumbnail, it was me that i though the girl from Other M is actually Mother Brain's resurrection.
@Flavio Arrigoni should've been metroid prime: other m. :))
The other m took place before metroid fusion but i always wish it was not about the dead of adam malkovich, it must have told the origin of Samus and everything going on with that then.
I remember using the hyper beam for the first time in Super Metroid when I was 8, and how badass I felt!! lmao
I still remember getting super metroid, donkey kong country, links awakening, pokemon red having never played either and yet being so excited..29 today..
Interesting - you didn't put the Quadraxis battle in there.
Metroid Database was thinking the same thing!
Metroid Database 3dkdo
As far as I remember Quadraxis was purely mechanical. Technically MB shouldn't be here either though because she's an AI with an android body and no organic components.
She is, however, based on Mother Brain
@@Travigameis Mother Brain IS a Brain so yeah it is Good that she is here
7:19 is forever epic seeing love and protection
6:17 Look at the energy.
everyone's talking about how cool it is when the baby metroid sacrifices itself and samus becomes super strong, but i'm here feeling it's even more iconic when mother brain's first form is defeated, it drops to the ground, you think it's dead, and suddenly it rises out of the ground and WHOOOOP WHOOOOP WHOOOOP WHOP-WHOOOOP
imagine being a kid back then and seeing that for the first time-
*No one:*
*UA-cam:* Game "EarthBound"
It got corrected,It now displays NEStroid
Just when you thought Other M's Brain was a horrible fight, Federation Force still manages to one up it...
the final samus energy in SM is 69 (nice)
Cool video! Nice to see this evolution because I don't know much about Metroid... Lol!
Ridley based off “Aliens” and Brain based off “Skynet”
Plus the name ridley comes from the realisator of alien: ridley scott
Fighting Mother Brain in her mechanical chicken body from Super Metroid was more terrifying than any moment from Fusion
clearly Samus knows what she is doing.
Dark Samus dabbed at 16:09 Dab popularized in 2015 DARK SAMUS INVENTED THE DAB
Samus: What makes you more superior than me, Dark Samus?!
Dark Samus: I invented the dab.
Do Kraid or Ridley next.
YouLikeJazz 4870 think hes done both
LetalisVenator Has he? I'll check.
He hasn't.
Kraid is the series awkward child, they kept pushing him away from 3d games and he only appears in 2 games ( zero missions is a remake so it doesn't count)
Lol Ness Monkey Ball
i love how the metroid just INHALES the hyper beam that mother brain shoots.
"one of these things is not like the other..."
6:45 WAIT A MINUTE! 🕑 I KNOW Y'ALL DIDN'T HERE THAT BUT..
BUT THAT WAS THE ROAR OF HESIE MOTHRA'S ROAR 🦋🧡
I’m one of the few who doesn’t judge or dislike Metroid: Federation Force just for not including Samus as the main character. But what the hell was that final boss!?
I don't care what anyone says. Other M is an amazing Metroid game. In fact it's the Dark Souls of Metroid.
I think this is the most ridiculous and surreal thing i ever see in internet in 20 years XDDDDDDD
I loved Other M because of the gorgeous graphics, awesome enviornments,Samus had a narrative&storyline as well as other voice actors, and the classic arsenal, but Other M's MB boss was so pathetic (not to mention the serious lack of Metroids you could kill)...like...all you had to do was lock onto MB (Or Melissa) and wheee...you beat the game...compared to how difficult the Queen Metroid was,it was insulting to call MB a "final boss"...and im sorry, but Phantoon did not count as a final boss for me in that game.Phantoon was just an extra in my book.
samus had a narrative in the previous games too. only difference was she didnt talk and was better for it.
6:49 such a heartwarming scene. Baby saving Momma
super metroid SAVES THE DAY
When i first played Super Metroid as a kid, i thought these things Samus were fighting against were like Xenomorphs, flesh-eating instincts-driven monsters that go bump in the night.
