Honestly, when you are 60 years old and think that a 20 years old is in love with you for your personality, you're just lying to yourself . These women I think did it to themselves. Men chose the women for the visa and women chose the men for the youth and physical appearance. It's not innocent from both sides
Exactly. I think these guys should sue the program for deffamation. Being called publicly "Holiday Love Rat" is an insult and very likely does not cover the whole reality of the story given by these entitled scorned women that used their visa status to exploit the youth of these men. Nothing wrong about that in my opinion, life is a trade, but they have to deal with the true extent of what they were doing.
@@marcoprolo7318 exactly, I am from Gambia and I was 34 when my fellow Gambian age 37 scammed me into a marriage. I told him that I would never help him get a visa in the uk and he assured me that he would do his visa process by himself and doesn’t need my help, once we got married he now changed his tune. He thought once we get married he could charm me 😅 needless to say the marriage ended in 3 months and I never even lifted a finger to even attempt making visa applications. With the information and technology we have, there’s no excuse to make such decisions if you know that you can’t live with the negative consequences.
I agree that deep down most people would question why a man of that age is interested in a woman who’s much older than them. It doesn’t naturally make sense and then once money is brought into the equation, there’s even more reason to be suspicious.
Patricia is the most shocking…she honestly thought that a young guy wanted to marry an old disabled woman? I feel sorry sorry for them for being so let down but it’s actually creepy on her part. If it was an old guy and a young girl he’d be seen as a total creep.
yup. I'm sorry but Patricia's IQ is not average. She even sounds that way. She didn't deserve to be hurt, nothing like that, but it is what it is. Actually, no, it;'s even simpler: she may have suspected, but as long as the FANTASY lasted, she didn't care.
Patricia said it's every woman's dream to marry a younger man in a foreign country........I really doubt that, I personally couldn't think of anything much worse
I think that statement is made/used to distance yourself from any personal responsibility ie any other women in my position would have done the same thing. Fortunately that is not the case.
Also, they are _extremely_ unlikely to actually be physically attracted to you. We can deny it all we want but women are designed to be most visually desirable during their prime reproductive years (late teens to mid-thirties) - it’s just a fact of biology, and the way life works.

I think UK government should start jailing these women who brings nothing but embarrassment. Or better still stop issuing citizenship if they don't stay in marriage at least 10 yrs!
Sounds like you’re not worth a cup of coffee yourself, and are all the more bitter for it. Overvaluing oneself can can be just as bad as self-underestimation.
I don't want to sound like a douche, but it's kinda strange to me that these women consistently fall for this.. NEVER get with someone who has something they can gain by being with you.. If they're coming into the relationship with nothing, it's not you that is the prize, remember that! This is true for country born citizens as well..
They're naïve. If you've grown up a privileged white woman in the UK, you might not realize the desperation of some groups of people and the evil they might be willing to do to attain your privileged life. Not to mention these relationships happen in a foreign context with no friends or family to weigh in. I don't blame them. I feel sorry for them. The other day I was reading about a white woman who got HIV in Africa from a quick fling. I truly felt sorry for her. A similarly educated African woman wouldn't have ever fallen for the man she wrote about. These women shouldn't travel to these places without knowing that as single Western women, they are targets for some men. I say this as an African woman myself. I'm on team women against exploiters!
I feel sorry for them, truly. But I understand you being so puzzled. I feel the same, sometimes, but then again I got to know women who never, ever read anything about "romantic scams", so I assume they'd live these stories with total abandonment and naivety

I’ve seen holiday romances that turned into long distance relationships and lead to successful marriages. The BIG difference with these relationships is that the couples met organically, were close in age and shared similar cultures. Meeting random, significantly younger men on holiday or on the internet is a big red flag 🚩 I feel sorry for the women. The love these women are seeking they should invest in healing themselves. The women are however complicit in the situations they find themselves in. They know these young men are poor and unfortunately will do anything including marrying women old enough to be their mums or grandmothers to survive. It’s sad all round really.

I met my husband of 9 years on a backpacking trip. It’s like you said, we met organically, are both close in age, from similar cultures, eat similar foods, come from similar families ( both the way we were raised and both middle class), but I think one of the most important things was that we didn’t rush anything. We dated long distance for two years, just traveling back and forth to each other. I didn’t see any red flags. These women just want it to happen so bad that they ignore all red flags. I also will add….my brother in law is in a relationship with a woman from an entirely different culture. It’s causing so many issues, one major one is that they both dislike each other’s food. He also pays for everything and she sends all her money home. There is red flags everywhere that she is just using him. 😕 It can work for some people, but people need to be cautious and take their time to get to know the other person before committing.
@@sarabilioness1031 exactly! What you’ve described are the types of marriages that I have seen work. People are skeptical because of stories in the documentary BUT there are some honest people out there.
I'm an American man. Been living in Africa for 4 years. What I've noticed about African men is that lying and deceiving is just a way of life and they have no conscience about it nor do they think it's wrong. Lying is just part of the culture. For you western women who fall in love with African men I recommend coming to Africa and living with the man. Give it a year. His true colors, good or bad, will come out.
Africa is a continent with 54 countries, be specific and name those countries, you cant paint African men with the same brush, no sir, heal. I for one will tell you that Southern African men(South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe etc) are not known to scam white women, so please respect African men who live decent honest lives
@Malebogo Abesai How can u claim to know all South African men? As Africans we need to stop this habit of always coming to the defense of people just because they are Africans. Southern African is huge there is no possible way you know all men in thay region and their behaviours
The problem is that we romanticise marriage too much. To get a clear view of what's actually going on, we need to see it as the legal contract it is. All the flowers and fuss are a distraction. Ask yourself "What legal benefit does the other person get from it? "
There's also another thing to consider, what if the other person is genuine but the marriagie still doesn't work out? I know someone who isn't in love with her North African husband anymore but needs to stay married to him for several more years because otherwise he'll lose his work visa. And since they are still friends and he hasn't done anything wrong she doesn't want to do that to him, so they are both stuck in limbo and unable to move on.
These stories are why we need to teach our daughters that they are worthy on their own and they dont need a man to make them happy. As long as we keep teaching them about happily ever after they will always be desperate for love
Ppl want companionship, many just aren’t being wise about it. For one so many ppl do have others who are interested in them and they don’t bother cuz the person didn’t come in the package they wanted. Ppl love looking on the outside appearance and end up missing out on a good person cuz they don’t look like what they wanted.

The age not the problem here, it's what they expected ❤️ I'm 51 my man 30 we both Jamaican. It's long distance relationship. We have good family contact. My mom in Jamaica loves him. He's not really interested to come to Europe. He got no kids, I have grown kids. I would never stop him from getting his child. He's a handsome man. And I would love to see his kids. 😀 We have respect, understand each other. I know him a year now, I stop drinking, sleep good at nights. We as elder ladies, expected just too much. And very selfish. The way Diane is speaking about love, sounds more like obsession. Do people ever consider why young, handsome men are pursuing older women from a different country?? Wouldn’t that make you question why they haven’t found someone of their own age or in their own country? The minute money gets thrown into the equation, isn’t that enough to know it’s not love? I do feel sorry for anyone who gets scammed but as human beings, we also need to become more self-aware and critical thinkers.

You guys need to talk about these things and never shy away from them, the more exposure they get, the more likely it is that these women will not fall for these scams. As an African woman, I will tell you that if an African man loves you, asking money from you is one thing they try their best to avoid, it embarrasses and emasculates them and i think the horrible treatment they dish out once they've gotten what they wanted stems from that. Sometimes they already have a woman that they already love and this shows the lengths that they can go to just to provide for her and make her happy. Ya'll are safer not entertaining them at all.

Your case is unusual. Both with Ghanian roots. Similar in age, etc. These other cases are OLD women (like me) in a foreign country paying for "romance". Then the old woman thinks marriage and young guy sees economic opportunity. These developing countries are hell holes with no escape. I've lived in many due to my job. Silly old women. You are right to go easy on the blame because we all make mistakes. However, we also live in a society where everyone looks to blame everyone else. These ladies are fully functioning, independent, grown adults, all with past baggage and experience of some sort. They absolutely made the decisions they made with a sound mind.

You don't sound like a douche, you sound like someone with intelligence and common sense.
Well said Whisper you are no douche , i dont get it either

I don't feel sorry for them. They are just delusional.

Good advice
Extremely good advice. Lies is second nature to most Africans
@@NellyMacharia but why. Most of them proclaim to be Christian yet lie like the devil.

@@NellyMacharia when you find out, let me know what they mean...please 😆
When I go abroad additionally to my luggage I take my head with me.
🤣 Loved the comment
😂😂😂
Very smart lady, I salute you
Jayne's son, "you can't change who a person is just because you welcome them in your home" there's a word!!! Very astute young man!!!
Be well and be at peace.
After a couple of these episodes, I see all of these women keeping souvenirs, like now the drum,
or photos, fake jewelry etc.
Some even go back to the country where it all happened.
I think despite of everything, it was the most exciting time of their lives & they kind of want to relive it.
It's strange & sad.
Lesson: don't drag home the waiter and believe lie upon lie. Get help with your desperation
Or get a pet for company and a rubber dong for the naughties.
@@vivien2088 They don’t even require the “naughties”, it’s simply a desire to feel needed and for companionship. Their desperation for that leads to this insidious oblivion to obvious danger.
Some of them said they were happy on their own, but the moment a young man gives them attention, they lose all rational thought.
😂
Anne Carter, what about the kebab salesmen? 😂
Ladies, these men were all scumbags. I wish you the best.
PS All your animals are adorable, and they LOVE you to pieces! Give them an extra hug. :)
These strong independant women ALL need to be accountable for their actions
I suppose it's easy for a sleazy guy to promise he'll take you everywhere and pay for everything when he doesn't have a pot to piss in, basically😛
These are people who will give money to strangers rather than family.
Patricia and her ashtray, she was in denial 😂
My view is that these women simply aren't very bright.
2shay
I think thats a cruel opinion. These women might be gullible, emotionally blind amd lonely but not as you say. I do feel sorry for them all but being so vulnerable they are targets for scum like these.
Yep
For sure
One of them said she was new to the internet… need I say more
It is so good that Diane has resumed her drumming classes.
She's got a passion for more than just African music lol
I’m sorry but many of the guys from that part of the world are serial love bombing opportunists. They always wanna get too close to quickly
BBC?
@@vivien2088 😂
Always 10 years or more younger
😂😂😂
I cannot imagine going through a divorce and wanting to see what is out there. You know what is out there. That is why you are divorcing.
"He has a beautiful smile!" Whaaaa??? 😆
I know this happens all the time but I had a holiday romance in 1998 in Ghana 🇬🇭 im a British born Ghanaian my bloodline is from Ghana 🇬🇭 and was going back and forth twice a year after 5 years we got married in 2001 and we both came back 2 London UK 🇬🇧 he got his stay papers after a month and we had our son in 2003 and we're still 2gether and happy unconditional love his my best friend. It doesn't always end up in heart break or u being scammed.
Common ancestry is the difference. Best of luck with your union.
Desperate young men. A very bad deal if woman doesn't understand it is a business transaction.
I think is easy to blame these women, but sometimes we just look for love in the wrong places. I am glad they are sharing their stories, and they are brave to do so, knowing people are going to blame them right away. It is a shame, the financial cost and how humiliated they end up.
You are right to go easy on the blame because we all make mistakes. However, we also live in a society where everyone looks to blame everyone else.
These ladies are fully functioning, independent, grown adults, all with past baggage and experience of some sort.
They absolutely made the decisions they made with a sound mind. Trying to blame the internet, or the immigration process, or dating sites, etc, is not allowing them to take full responsibility for their actions.
Yes, they are brave, yes, they have paid a heavy price in more ways than one and yes, it is their responsibility from which they need to learn.
I thank them for sharing bravely.
Look for love or look to dominate someone less fortunate and more grateful than you're used to? Love seems to come very easily in these situations.
Agreed
Me too. If any positive can come from it, it can be educating other women.
Alot of times WE are NOT looking for love, they are groomed to friend a woman and slowly work into it. The honey on their tongue is laced with venom....
They will never learn. ''He has the most beautiful smile''....love must be blind.
A cry for help? Sounds like he was just tired of being in that room, needed a change of scenery, and didn't want to deal with her. 🙄🙄🙄
Let's appreciate these women who are brave enough to share their painful experience and been watching by many of us around the world! Hopefully this creating awareness to all women for never believe on fake marriage!!!
Michelle thought a fiancé visa is an opportunity to test out the relationship and 6 months wasn’t long enough, but it’s actually for couples who are engaged and intent to marry.
Trying to blame the system instead of accepting she was naive and foolish
That’s why it’s called a fiancé visa. You’re supposed to already be engaged. The 3 months (6 months in the uk) is supposed to give you time to organize a wedding. That’s it
