This movie is really entertaining, but how is she in witness protection and didn’t even bother to change her appearance?? Seems like a huge oversight

I love these movies, but somehow I still get irritated at the STUPID mistakes the characters make that obviously would jeopardize them and their family. Telling her sister the "hint" was really dumb.

Just like who would leave a window unlocked if they know there's a hit out on them? Silly. At least let the dude have some legally questionable tools that can pick locks or open windows. MHC always strains credulity. But her stories are so wholesome I can't resist the escape. She's one step up from Nancy Drew 🤣

@@seer1623 it's nice to see someone else thought about Nancy Drew! My Mom would have liked Mary Higgins Clark as well.
When I was in middle school my Mom had me check out all of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boy's. We watched the movie's together. Having 3 other siblings I treasured any 1 on 1 time with my Mom, (and each sibling). Mom and I loved a good suspense, mystery type shows, movie's. They challenge the mind!

They enticed us every day…we made “Tuna Fish & Pickle” & to the TV’s…gorgeous, believable, sincere & off she went to be a Star…But then life happens & the World lost a fantastic connection to telling The Story…She was adored & daily!

The police (?) never would have brought her there in real life. I also couldn’t believe she entered and walked around her apartment when it had been ransacked. Most people would stop at the door and immediately run to a neighbor or something to call for help in case the intruder(s) were still inside. I love Mary Higgins Clarks books but, like many suspense writers, she tended to put her characters in unrealistic situations.

I just wonder how true to the novel, is the script. Like many comments below, why didn't she change her hair color? Seems hard to believe that the author overlooked that detail.

I didn't read the book. If you did can you tell me if she changed her hair color? If she did, then that was the author. The producer of the movie would be to blame for her not changing hair color. The producer.....not the author of the book!

Judging by the comments the plot holes have holes... Which is just what I'm looking for!!! !
Sometimes only an utterly unconvincing storyline will suffice... Let's hope the acting is both wooden and cheesey... I'm wanting cloying, Crass, trite, and glib... I want mawkish sentimental piano music that leads my emotions, plenty of stereotypes, cops that say whaddawegard,, kids in hospital beds that explain the plot, ideally a token wise old black character.. A bad dad would be excellent, use of violins and letter reading to skip back in time... Etc etc etc...The last thing we need ior deserve is great storytelling, A riveting, original plot, a genius director, beautiful camerawork, a talented sympathetic cast with believable acting... No thanks... No time for that malarkey.. Endless made for TV movies from the 80s. Is our pleasure... It's You tube remember it's free remember...your brains are washed free of charge all I have to do is put up with ads for stuff I can never afford

Still watching but in 18:00 the killer did not see the person who got in the apartment so how could he be so sure it was the real estate agent? She closed the door right after him and he’s had a no chance to see her face. Was it like that in the book? Mary was a master in handling story-building. I’m sure there was some kind of mistake. Movies along with poorly-written scripts really destroy the beauty of a work. Artists tried to build emotion through the scenes but editing failed to deliver the emotion probably due to timing p, low-budget and poor camera angles and frames. They had to squeeze the entire book in a 90-minute motion picture. Still a great devoted Editor would have succeeded in delivering that essential frame to the audience even if had 15 minutes to turn a book into a film. Yet, I’ll continue watching.
One thing though, and this is not film-making related… I believe the police would want to take a look in that bag the agent carried with her. She was at the murder scene first.. she is considered a prime suspect. Forensics would have even taken a sample of the dust under her shoes, checked for any flesh under her finger nails in case the Coroner confirmed there was a struggle plus traces of gun powder. Ruling out does not happen easy as she was supposed to be covered when she was allowed to be dismissed. How can a detective speak of a protection plan yet let her go out just like that in the face of tens of hungry lenses and journalists? Besides, the detective should have said the popular phrase “Lady, is there somebody you could stay with? You should not be alone or go back to your residence.”.
A-ha! See what happened? They checked her apartment and God.. she should’ve run right away. The intruders could still be in there.
As for the angry detective… some cases involve the police so she should have told him that she could not trust nobody at the time. Jimmy could be involved too. I met a guy once who run a high seat in the police force.. believe me or not.. he was dirty. I had to gently pull myself away from his life. You do not know what these guys are capable of. Your situation against his false claims if he put you in his mind would be so weak and inescapable. It could cost you lots.. maybe even life.. just like what happened to Chantal’s daughter.

Right at the beginning I said that her boss was an actor that usually plays a bad guy and how nice it was that this a different role! Not through the movie yet, just at the part where they are suspicious of him.

Makes you think how dangerous some situations could be....and how awful it must be to be in a witness protection programe.....though I agree, a change of hair colour may have helped!!

This meant to be an exciting movie, and they have done a very good job, BUT! The killer found her city of her stay so easily, and went straight went to that exact gym she attended, and understood the man in the gym will drive to her home......That, I call BS. And as I knew everything were so superficial, it was not interesting anymore.
A good movie, should be realistic, otherwise it's a cheap fable.

In the book, there is more of a build up. She has a mother who buys the newspaper which gives away the name of the city. Then later on she tells some people at the restaurant that her daughter joined a gym with a new squash court. That's how the killer found her after checking other gyms in the city cz she is a fitness enthusiast and loves going to the gym. There is a lot that was omitted.

I enjoyed all of MHC’s novels. This was one of my very favourites. Pity about the movie industry’s artistic licence. We’ll forgive them…….this time.😏

I thought in Sliding Doors, Gwyneth Paltrow should have either been cast as an American, or they should have got an English girl to play the part. Making her English was silly, Emilia Clarke in Above Suspicion was another one.

@@treasurehunteruk9718 I was told by a few that her English accent was real good ,believable !! Lol. I thought it was pretty good compared to many other American actresses ,but still could hear wrong ones although I am Japanese living in the States !! Lol. Funny as British actors ,even Australian actors can do American accent better !! 🎬💜🥁🐉🎤💞

@@jmjung7321 That was afterwards. She had the British accent all the way through !! So ,I thought she really did have the background, say she was born & raised there by chance in this movie ,but not mentioned ,or they had a different mother ,or father ,that was my guess ! Lol.🎬💜🥁🐉🎤💞
