This thing is a beast. Never thought I would ever have the opportunity to use one of these as only high end mastering studios had them. Now I can use it in my home studio. Softube is awesome for doing this.
Most say they wouldn't buy it but for an expensive plug in nut I'm impressed. Im the type who uses a regular maximizer on the main buss an get nice results because of my room setting, A/D D/A converters and monitors etc. Understand that you could get the hardware for $10, 000 get bad results. The more you learn the more you get out of either one. Im not the master super famous engineer yet but i understand more these days of benefiting from a gear purchase.
I just bought mine. I have a few other Softube plug-ins and Weiss Deess. They offered me a big discount to upgrade into DS1-Mk3. Final price under $230! Yep couldn't pass up.

Elysia Alpha Compressor is 10k for the hardware, but Plugin Alliance still from time to time sells it for like $175.... I still can’t see paying $500-$600 for a plugin... that’s nuts!
no, it can't do the oversampling (what you refer to as upsampling) so it's no where near the sonics of the hardware, especially at lower sample rates.i have both. this is still great value and i would buy the plug in just for desser

LK in this situation you actually get the same algorithms that run inside the hardware so I don't think that is a valid comparison :)

it's actually better than the old hardware - they updated the code.... better limiters...
@@levondarratt787 I can definitely hear the SRC on the plugin. I had both, sold the hardware - but it was better. At 441 is was miles better IMO
