every piece of gear from ENGL is chuggable. it's simply their thing.
my first pedal was a fuzz made in Russia, I guess by a guy in his home. I plugged it into a Roland JC120 all full blast, using a no-name unplayable electric guitar loaded with single coils.
I think I might have cause the fall of iron curtain in that moment.
By the way, ENGL pedals are relabeled pedals made by Yerasov.
Yep, that's right, the old pedals were made by Yerasov but not the custom pedal series. The ENGL Custom Pedal Series (Fullrange booster, Alphadrive, Fuzzyhead, Delay and Reverb and all upcoming ;-)) is completely designed and handcrafted in Bavaria / Germany. Cheers, Marty \m/.

Ola, just saw at the gates last night with Arch enemy and Amon amarth and at the gates they were using your guitars, they sounded abSOLARutly amazing. Only band out of the three that played where I got knocked out in the mosh pit too LOL
Ola is of course more of a modern death metal player. It shows in his riffs. The paying friend is more of a dark heavy metal (Mercyful Fate, Diamond Head) and thrash guy, and also has some pretty cool riffs in him.
Maybe the pedal didn't chug, but the sponsor guy TOTALLY CHUG'D

The name Retro gave the sound away. This is for a 'classic vintage sound' and for that it does a good job. But just jam the Fortin in front of it and BOOM!

The equipment testing is what hooked me, Ola the tester. So many other guitar channels are NOT metal guys, yet they try out metal equipment and it sounds like ass. But Ola? Man, you make everything sound kick ass. I buy way too much stuff because of your channel. You should be getting a kick-back from a bunch of manufacturers.

I've tried high gain pedals into my Triple Rectifier the way I would use my tube screamer , doesn't work as well

I've got a Dean dime razorback lonestar cowboys, I've got a Jackson dinky with Floyd,I've got a Dean mlx, I've got a Ibanez grg with edge locking tremolo, and my next guitar is gonna be a Jackson Randy Rhodes with Floyd. I like ola playing he's 👍 good.

I once tried a Russian-made Big Muff and it worked flawlessly! Maybe they package things.. weird, they are a-OK.
Didn't even know that ENGL have pedals. The moment I saw connection on the back, I thought: "Hey, that's Yerasov!". Sounds cool.
Btw, Yerasov's version in Russia costs 1/3 of the price of the ENGL's.

I like the black guitar. The pedal, like most retro amps, need an overdrive to really make them sing. I guess this is what they were going for?

It sounds like an old Washburn dist. pedal I used to have. Through a really good amp, probably. This setup? Okay, at best. Another toy my Micro Dark would eat.

It's weird because the mids seem to have more control of the actually "chug" than the bottom like we traditionally see.
