The Sting Trailer - Directed by George Roy Hill and starring Paul Newman Robert Redford Robert Shaw Charles Durning and Ray Walston Set in the 1930's this intricate caper deals with an ambitious small-time crook and a veteran con man who seek revenge on a vicious crime lord who murdered one of their gang.

I like how he said, "This time they might get away with it" alluding to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Scott Joplin's rags just MAKE this film. Oh how I love this! Every second.
The best con movie of all time.A sheer classic.Superb acting by Newman, Redford and Shaw.A Brilliant story and an unforgettable movie experience.
One of the really nice touches to this flick is that the Universal logo at the beginning of the movie was what was actually used in the 30s

I have seen thousands of movies in my lifetime, and this one is at the top of the list. Magnificent from start to finish.
Days after watching this great movie Scott Joplin's the entertainer musical score will ring you in your ears.
Even though this movie was made 40 years before I was born , I loved it . I watched Paul new man’s other movies and it’s not hard for me to conclude that he is one of the greatest actors of all time . What a legend !

allegri9cl It's a shame how much since the release of this classic film that Universal has fallen off. They really were the best back in its Classic period. I'm proud that they have many of their golden titles avaliable on DVD and Blu-Ray.
I saw this movie when it premiered, Christmas of 1973. It's too bad Redford and Newman never had the chance to team up again. I went and bought the soundtrack album right afterwards. I think the 70s were the last era of original film making in Hollywood.

Love Newman an Redford!! Worth mentioning also the great Robert Shaw!! Between "The Sting" and "Jaws" he delivers a master's class on '70s film acting.

Saw the rerelease my junior year in high school... It's still one of my Top 10 faves of all time! (Believe it or not, I went to see Charles Dierkop, who played the bodyguard Floyd for Robert Shaw's character!) Fell in love with the entire film!!! 😺💕🐾

Coincidence that this came out a little over a year after The Godfather? I guess gangster films were all the rage then. With 2 great movies like that in such a short time, it was like an embarrassment of riches for moviegoers back then.
