@@danieltaylor1494 I believe that British actor Tom Ellis would've made a great Bond, as he has all of the right qualities for that iconic role, but since he is now in his mid forties (and Eon want to sign an actor to a multi-picture contract) he is already a bit too long in the tooth for it. They SHOULD have chosen him for 'Casino Royale' instead of Craig, but it's obviously too late now. It's a shame that Ellis never got the chance to have a crack at it, as I think he would've done a great job, but there you go.
He had the style and, more importantly, the ruthlessness. There is a good 2017 HULU documentary on George called BECOMING BOND. After reading Ian Fleming, George may have fit the role physically even better than Sean Connery.
In "Ice Station Zebra" McGoohan proved he would have excelled as a serious Bond role- however, he rightly saw the franchise for what it was and instead created the memorable "Prisioner" series which will be discussed for a very long time.....

It seems that they are looking at younger actors who are in their late 20s/early 30s ie Tom Holland the film version of the video game Unchartered could have been Tom Holland's Bond audition Richard Burton, James Mason and Michael Gambon would have been more suited for the role of M and both Stewart Granger and James Mason were both shortlisted for the role of Drax in Moonraker but both were not offered the Drax role because of Moonraker being a UK/France co-production (under the 1965-1979 agreement) which meant that Michael Lonsdale took the part of Drax

Best: Connery Roger Moore.. a terrific and iconic Simon Templar....but not as Bond. Would have been great to have a high production standard Saint movie with Moore. Best Person who Said No: Patrick McGoohan He had the charm, personality, and physicality. I'm sorry they never did a full blown, high budget John Drake movie. (...and no, "Koroshi" doesn't count)
@@sprocketsintime It was certainly different in attitude than the original George Sanders Saint movies , or the Roger Moore tv series. Imo, Moore was the perfect charmer for Simon Templar...and his Bond was definitely similar to Templar. I think there was a reason there was never a Saint II with Kilmer. Have not yet seen the 2017 Saint, which had Moore and his tv successor Ian Olgivy in the movie.
I was never a big fan of James Bond movies. But I loved Sean Connery and that manly sultry voice he had not to mention his good looks. But I also enjoyed Roger Moore his movies were my favorite ones. Timothy Dalton was just so handsome and so was Pierce Bronson. To me they were good James Bonds. But the one and only Real James Bond to me and always will be is Sir Sean Connery . 🥰
It doesn't make sense to me that an American would be offered the role of Bond. It Eastwood or Renolds would have attempted and Enlish accent, it would have been the death of the franchise! 😂 Cary Grant may have been able. But, to make an American an MI6 agent probably wouldn't have worked with fans. JMO. Edit: And those American actors thought the same.
Sean Connery. No one else is even close, ..and I agree, Christian Bale is no James Bond...but he is an excellent actor. Dominic West might have been a good Bond. He got that flare.
Thank you! Just trying to have some fun with it and mean no disrespect. Some folks think I’m incorrectly calling Bale an American but am referring to the film American Psycho.
@@sprocketsintime I mean in all reality why do you think that Bales pshicopath performance in American Pshico was so outstanding is because in real life the man is quite pshicopathic himself😉
Cary Grant would have NAILED IT!!! Richard Burton wouldn't have been bad, either!! By the By Cary doesn't have an "E" in his name. I'm flattered, though..
Something very interesting is that while both Adam West and Burt Reynolds turned it down....in the movie "Hooper" Adam is playing a spy like James Bond and Burt is his stuntman...irony.
I have a close friend who is one of THE biggest Bond series fans I know, and he *hates* Daniel Craig. Don't know why; I've chosen not to get into the issue with him. I liked Craig, and Brosnan, and also Dalton! Of course, Connery is THE James Bond. IF a Bond fan declared differently, there would be a violence.😳😉 Of those almost-rans, I'd say Cary Grant would have been a good Bond.
Totally agree! I grew up with Roger Moore, my brother hated Moore as Bond because Sean was his Bond, and Sean IS Bond to me as well. But there's nothing wrong with liking your own Bond. I honestly think they never expected the franchise to last this long. The one thing I've learned is you can't please everyone, just choose what you like and the rest is just another person's like or dislike. I feel sad when people just become so angry over it. Rod taylor wouldve been so great as Bond. Disney mustve paid him a pretty penny. A pretty Many Penny. Ha! No, seriously, Sean is and always will be Bond
Fame chooses you as well as your audience .That is why Connery is the best Bond. With Brosnan, I kept waiting for Stephanie Zimbalist to come save him like the TV series. They gave poor Roger a cartoon series.Even Connery said it. Craig advised the next Bond not to give us Sh*t.Too bad he didn't follow his own advice with that turd No Time to Die. What an ego to suggest he was the last Bond.

Best Person who Said No: Patrick McGoohan He had the charm, personality, and physicality. I'm sorry they never did a full blown, high budget John Drake movie. (...and no, "Koroshi" doesn't count)
Would have loved to see a John Drake film with McGoohan! Did you like Val Kilmer in The Saint?
@@sprocketsintime It was certainly different in attitude than the original George Sanders Saint movies , or the Roger Moore tv series. Imo, Moore was the perfect charmer for Simon Templar...and his Bond was definitely similar to Templar. I think there was a reason there was never a Saint II with Kilmer.
Have not yet seen the 2017 Saint, which had Moore and his tv successor Ian Olgivy in the movie.
Sean is Bond
Good Show!! 🇬🇧
Cary Grant may have been able.
Always Sean! Thanks for the comment! Welcome to the channel
Is it me or is this guy freaking brutally and sarcastickly hilarious with his comments 😂😂😂 he really had me laughing.
100% :)
@@sprocketsintimeThe way you described Adam West's love scenes if he was Bond would be like his fight scenes from Batman was funny.
Cary Grant would have NAILED IT!!! Richard Burton wouldn't have been bad, either!! By the By Cary doesn't have an "E" in his name. I'm flattered, though..
Yeah that was one of those, "DOH" moments after the fact typing too fast and then going, awww mannn!!!" Agreed for sure about Grant and Burton
What’s the name of the music... at 10:23?
Hey thanks for your question. It's a track we created for this video, called, "Follow Me to Your Death."
R0GER WAS THE BEST B0ND EVER!❤😊
❤SEAN CONNERY BEST BOND FOR EVER...Maybe Richard Burton or James Mason would have been ok, thats my opinion😮
Would loved to see Adam West as Bond.
Thanks for sharing your comment! Welcome to the channel.
Sean Connery is and remains the best, the eternal James Bond. No one killed their opponents with such dry humor and wonderful cynicism.
13:46 Agreed!
What about Tom Hardy he's a british actor who in My opinión would be a very Good Bond well an update one anyway
I like Sean Connery as J A M E S B O N D 0 0 7
6:48 My goodness poor guy. He has been missing until now?
Crazy isn't it? What do you think happened to him?
Lord Lucan as bond?Aaaahhh…..
Connery will always be Bond ,he said “Bond,James Bond” with menace if you look at the rest of them they all say Bond James Bond as if the can’t believe they got the gig…I always wait for them to say, yeah I know,I can’t believe I’m playing him 😂😂
100% Joe!!! I always felt the same way!
By far the best Actor was Sean Connery for the Bond 007 character.
One name you missed; Jon Finch
Nope, Jon Finch is there. He’s number 12 on the list 10:15
BROSNAN was / is my fave
Connery was best bond followed by Pierce Brosan...
Sean Connery is by far the best
Rod taylor wouldve been so great as Bond. Disney mustve paid him a pretty penny. A pretty Many Penny. Ha!
No, seriously, Sean is and always will be Bond
We wanted Pierce anyway.😂😂😂
Lazenby is the best Bond. Btw... love the background paintings.
Thank you! Cheers!
Fun thx
Thank you!
Ididn't expect so many american actors.
Yes it is surprising since the character is a British spy. It seems the producers were thinking if the actor was popular then anyone could play Bond.
Lawford for me.
You do know that Christian Bale is British, right?
Yes 100%...the reference is to his role in "American Psycho"
Fame chooses you as well as your audience .That is why Connery is the best Bond. With Brosnan, I kept waiting for Stephanie Zimbalist to come save him like the TV series. They gave poor Roger a cartoon series.Even Connery said it. Craig advised the next Bond not to give us Sh*t.Too bad he didn't follow his own advice with that turd No Time to Die. What an ego to suggest he was the last Bond.
All so true! I hated No Time To Die..... really Bond killed by Freddie Mercury? Sean would have stomped him in the pre-title sequence.
L' unico che posso dire che Sean Connery è BOND più Roger Moore l' altri non andavano bene 😂
Craig
Connery (Dr No - Thunderball)
Dalton
Lazenby
Moore
Connery (YOLT & DAF)
Brosnan
