  • Hey guys! Welcome back to my channel! This was NOT the video I wanted to put out for my Daycare Tour, but it's the video I got. Sometimes life gets in the way and we just have to roll with it.
    I hope you enjoy it all the same!
    Please let me know if you are also a daycare provider. As I mentioned, it is such a lonely job and I would love to connect with some fellow providers.

    I have a licensed home daycare in Indiana for 28 years. I am at full capacity of 10. Your daycare is set up very nicely and organized. We are no longer allowed to use gates and I had the same roll away gate as yours for my kitchen entrance and the entryway. Licensing said we can't use them because children cannot get out on their own in an emergency. However, we can use swing gates that tear up the walls! I use online communication called "Daily Connect" with my parents. It's nice to log all their activities, what they need, sign in and out etc. Once the child is signed out for the day the parents receive an email. Very low cost at $9.99 a month.

      Cindy Wineinger I don’t know how I would survive without my gate! It’s literally the only thing that allows me to prepare meals without 6 bodies under my feet.
      Bless you!!!

I have been licensed for 18 years and in the daycare business for 28 so I'm sure requirements have changed. This will give you the most recent requirements. Licensing seems to have nothing better to do than to keep making rules and regulations I gets kind of frustrating bless you for making do without gates. In Kansas we are not allowed to let an infant follow sleep in a baby swing or carrier anything other than their pack and play and that’s crazy enough.

    • @cindywineinger3631
      @cindywineinger3631 5 років тому +2

      @@melindabanning7707 We can not allow them to sleep anywhere else besides a pack n play too. I do have one swing gate for my kitchen. We are allowed swing gates just not pressure gates or ones that they can not open. However, they are trained not to go past the stop sign and do pretty well with that.

    I am a Military Spouse and I have worked in different military childcare centers on and off for a few years. I am now starting my at home daycare since we now have two children, a 3 year old and a 3 month old. This video has helped with much of the anxiety I have had about my space since it has to be in our main living space.

    Thank you posting! My sister is starting a daycare in our home. It’s almost complete and nearly state licensed (by the end of the month!) we are using the space in our downstairs apartment which is not huge huge. So I’m glad to see someone who has a very well organized, minimal, clean space. I see sooo much clutter in other home daycares. This really helped give me more ideas on how to organize and store, which is what I’m working on now. Thank you.

    The home daycare room looks really nice, the only thing I was suggest is to cover up your socket holes because you don't want the kids to stick something in there and get electric shock. I work at a elementary school and those always had to be covered up for the kids safety.

    I use to work in a daycare for 25 yrs I loved it I had my own classroom and had 12 childern some 3 yr olds that still where not potty trained, I would have a changing chart of all the times they when potty for parents to look at, and a good job sticker board for going potty , now the ones that had a pull-up I would write the time I change them on it, just because sometimes the parent wanted to know. I would make daily reports for parents to take home to know how there child’s day was and what we did, along with an art book to look at and take home, it was beautiful to see how you fixed your home for this angels. Loved your ideas.

    I will be a licensed daycare provider soon. But in a different country.
    I don't even have as much room as you have. I don't have kids on my own just yet and kinda just have a 2 room apartment (kinda new too and still working on organizing). One room will be for sleeping (including my own bed) and it will get a kitchen as well. And one room for playing and also will contain a table were we can eat and do table activities... and kinda function as my own living room as well...
    In my country you get only a license for a maximum of 5 kids and I plan on getting 5 daycare kids... then I'll be able to save up some money to get a bigger apartment...

      Wow! I'm in NC and I have can only have 8 - 3 that are prek to 12 yrs and 5 from birth to 5 yrs. Currently I have 5. It is so strict in NC. You have sooo much stuff (that are good)....my little ones would have them off of the wall. We get inspected twice a year by State and once by City Sanitation. You transformed and share your personal space....whoa! If I was to have 6 children under 5 yrs I would be cited and need to get rid of the other one child.😯 I'm in City limits and on a 16000sqft and can only have 5 full time. The state would allow for more if the sq ft was over. Not moving anytime soon. Have had daycare for 12 yrs.

      I am currently in the process of moving my daycare space to the front part of my home. This space was a lovely, but I am quickly outgrowing it and long for more space.
      I would love to watch!

      jam Jelly yes you have to be licensed to have 6. You can care for 2 without being licensed. You can find more information at decal.ga.gov. The website gives all the information on how to start a business.

    It was great to come upon your video this evening! I have a licensed home daycare in Ontario Canada. I started in November but have done daycare before in a different house not licensed. I can have up to 6 kids at one time. There is a certain number of kids at a certain age of course. My daughter is 3 and is counted in the ratio however my son who is 8 is not because he is older and at school. I think your daycare is great. You are very organized and have given me some wonderful ideas. Now i want to go and organize mine in a different way. I have a lot more space but honestly I like the space you have and I feel from what I saw that it doesn't look small to me. I am an Early childhood Educator and have worked in centres also. Thanks for sharing your daycare with us on youtube.

    I’m in Australia and we are called family day care, love your video love seeing what other providers do but it’s very different to what I have to do.

    • @mommytomany5674
      @mommytomany5674  6 років тому

      Oh I would love to hear the differences! It's so interesting that a lot of us do essentially the same job, but the regulations are SO different!

    • @DAYBY_DAY_
      @DAYBY_DAY_ 6 років тому +1

      Yes that why I love watching other day care providers. I’m only allowed 4 children under school age and 3 school aged children but I have to include my own child I have a 13yr and a 10yr so I can only have 1 school ages child. I have a lot of rules that I have to follow and we have to do monthly observations of each child per month and of course planning and programming and we have to link it all together with codes and outcomes (that’s what we call them). I have a good set up I use the whole down stairs of our home and we have just put a kitchen in so I can supply food (not a lot of providers supply food). I have a Instagram page @Family_daycare_mum if you want to have a look at food and activities I do. I don’t show and of the children’s faces or anything like that!

    To encourage collaboration and peer scaffolding, I have chairs grouped around central tables rather than single ones up against a wall. My outdoor space is full of plants and we tend worm farms. Paint easels are well used and musical instruments are important. Engagement with the natural environment and creativity are important to foster, the play environment can reflect and support this. We all develop our professional practice and skill as we learn from other educators and keep studying.

    You have a well organized space and I can see you enjoy having your own business. I love how you decorated and your color choices. My only suggestion is to put bumpers around brick fireplace, I once had a child trip and had to get 15 stitches in their head caused by the edge of a fireplace such as yours. I wish you many happy years with your home daycare. Keep up your loving environment.

    You could get magnetic tape and take that little pocket that was on your fridge. The one that you didn't know what to use it for you man put the extra calendar numbers that are not being used. Put the magnetic tape on the cabinet door and you can attach the pocket folder so you have a place for the calendar numbers. Just a suggestion 😉

    So funny, here in Netherlands a home daycare (guestparent) often is extremely extremely minimal...compared to even your small space. And here it is 'normal' and children are very happy too :) Funny how different 'normal' is in other countries:D I am very inspired by your video though! the differences are just funny.
