Silvermoon City is one of the four oldest cities in the Eastern Kingdoms, the others being Zul'Aman, Zul'Gurub, and Stromgarde. It was founded nearly 10,000 years ago by the exiled Highborne survivors, forced to flee their ruined original homeland after the Sundering, aka the destruction of the Well of Eternity. The leader of these Highborne, Dath'remar Sunstrider became the first King of Silvermoon and the new land his people came to call home was named Quel'Thalas. These High Elves as they now called themselves were the most powerful practitioners of Arcane magic on Azeroth, and lived in a constant territorial struggle with their neighbors to the south, the Forest Trolls of the Amani Empire. Tensions eventually escalated into a series of conflicts known as the Troll Wars, and the High Elves sought the aid of the Humans of the Arathorian Empire in southern Lordaeron. This was the start of what would eventually evolve into the modern day Alliance. In exchange for military aid against the Amani, the High Elves agreed to teach the Humans how to become mages themselves, and thus it was through them that the first Human magi came to be. Eventually after the defeat and fragmentation of the Amani, both High Elf and Human mages founded the city of Dalaran, together. During the First War, when the Old Horde under demonic control invaded Azeroth, the High Elves joined the Human kingdom successor states of the Arathorian Empire as well as the Dwarven clans of Khaz Modan further south in a coalition dubbed the Alliance of Lordaeron. With the rise of the Scourge during the Third War, the Alliance of Lordaeron collapsed with the fall of its namesake kingdom to the Scourge. When the Scourge invaded Quel'Thalas under the command of the fallen Prince of Lordaeron, Arthas, the High Elf armies were decimated. Their calls for aid from the other Alliance kingdoms went unanswered, and their top general, Sylvanas Windrunner, was slain and risen into undeath as a Scourge herself. Arthas personally murdered the last High Elf king, Anasterian Sunstrider, and defiled their sacred Sunwell to resurrect the deceased necromancer Kel'Thuzad as a Lich. Roughly 90% of the worldwide High Elf population was exterminated in the fighting. Most of the survivors rallied behind Anasterian's son, Kael'thas, who renamed his people Blood Elves in homage to the fallen. The Blood Elves faithfully served in the fragmented Alliance armies, which had regrouped under the command of Grand Marshal Garithos. Garithos was a xeonophobic Human supremacist, and most of his lieutenants shared his racist views. He frequently used Kael'thas and his troops as cannon fodder or menial laborers, and eventually sentenced them all to death when he discovered Kael'thas agreed to a deal with the vicious Naga in exchange for aid. Disgusted with Garithos and the Alliance in general, Kael'thas and the Blood Elves renounced their loyalty to the Alliance and escaped Garithos' wrath. Kael'thas and his troops traveled with the Naga to Outland to pledge loyalty to the mighty and rogue Demon Hunter named Illidan Stormrage. In his absence, Kael'thas left the Blood Elves back on Azeroth under the command of a respected nobleman of Silvermoon named Lor'themar Theron. Still struggling to reclaim their fallen kingdom, the Azerothian Blood Elves needed new allies and found them in the Forsaken, former Scourge undead who had broken from their ranks to be free once more, led by none other than Sylvanas Windrunner. United against the Scourge that had oppressed them and the Alliance forces that would destroy them both, the Blood Elves and the Forsaken stood shoulder to shoulder to reclaim the cursed southern lands of Quel'Thalas from the Scourge. With Sylvanas' backing, the Blood Elves found even more allies across the sea in Kalimdor when the respected Warchief Thrall of the liberated and reformed New Horde accepted the Blood Elves into his ranks. Later with the revelation of Kael'thas' descent into madness and defection to the demonic Burning Legion, the Blood Elves have come to accept Lor'themar as their sole leader, and even though he sits on the throne in Silvermoon he refuses to call himself a king, out of respect for the fallen Anasterian.
On my (RP) realm, Silvermoon is full of people. Yeah, but you know, not that kind of people you wanna hang out on a daily base. Let's just say it's a huge brothel.
oh my god... This is always the song which reminds me of when I started playing in tbc together with all my best friends. Now they have all quit, and I'm the only one left. I sometimes go to Silvermoon just for heavy nostalgia moments. I know WoW will never be the same, but I can't quit this game. Too much memory
Quizas deberias renunciar a este juego ya que el wow requiere mucho tiempo """""tiempo que pocos no disponemos"""""' son buenos recuerdos pero ya no es lo mismo asi como tu lo comentas
Tommy Jakks yup, though i just started to play the game, Silvermoon feels quite empty, i have also seen lets plays and few years ago when i saw my friend playing BC for the first time, he allowed me to create my own character, and when i started, Silvermoon was just so crowded, so many people where running and goofing around.... now it is just... empty and quite, there are only low level belfs, and even they are only few..
Silvermoon city was crowded? I played TBC never seen it crowded o.O . Maybe at lauch and few weeks after maybe it was crowded but it quickly gotten abandoned.
+Alejandro Rangel I want to... But currently im more a child of the night :/ A nightelf druid.. I have to.. I dont want to. Shoudl I just break my bet and just play my old bloodelf character?
Such a badass race and city. You know I think it's great that the Horde have a race that don't appear all tough, brutal and barbaric like the orcs and trolls, the whole "royalty" element to the blood elves always seemed really fuckin cool to me. I wish Silvermoon was rebuilt to be twice or three time the size, of course redone to allow flying, transmog, portals etc....such a cool part of the whole lore, and visually really beautiful, that's just sorta....dead now. I have faith that it'll be badass again :) However long we gotta wait
+Jack Robbo I've gotta say you should look up what blood elves are actually like in lore. If anything, they're the most brutal of all the Horde Races, They're manipulative, demanding, Extremely racist, They're also much more ruthless than even Garrosh is in lore. They literally Destroyed Azeroth and invited The Legion to come to their world for power, and since they're very self righteous they believe themselves to be the ultimate embodiment of power. They've got some of the most corrupt storylines in the game. Not even the orc's were this bad. That said They're So PRETTY.
One of the best cities in the game. Back when i had a horrible pc and horrible internet i was forced to stay there cus i lagged out in org or dalaran. That made me fall in love with the place. Perfection
I always liked TBC music way more than any expansion, and I never really knew why. But after listening to music theory youtubers, I think I know why, and I haven’t seen anyone talk about this for blood elves. 0:55, the trumpets are a take on Dies Irae (translate: Days of Wrath) a Mozart piece about death, so much so that countless movies etc., reference it or alter it when death is a thematic context to the content. It’s in Sweeney Todd, Lord of the Rings, Lion King, Star Wars(Luke discovering aunt uncle death), it’s kind of a staple so much so that we’ve probably all heard it, and make death association without even realizing. So why is that melody, whether cello or trumpet, part of the blood elf leitmotif? They define themselves as blood elves because 90% of their population is dead, so their theme has the most established musically death related theme, that we as observers can understand. Whoever wrote this piece deliberately wanted to convey notions about a strong, regal and delicate nature which is inextricably intertwined with death. God I love TBC music.
I wish that blizzard would make the capital cities more equal and stop funnelling us into stormwind and orgrimmar. what's the point of making these cities if there's no point in going there?
With them adding portal rooms in Orgrimmar and Stormwind they could also simple spread out stuff more instead of putting everything in one major city..
Ur mzfkr equallity kills wow, they just ruined BloodEvles every fight every history far from silvermoon from Wotlk they just forget about great history line

I'll never forget the year of 2008 along with it's amazing experiences ;) I was a blood elf rogue and was just so amazed with the world and everything. How i love silvermoon :) Nostalgia is hitting me really hard :)
The thing is that both silvermoon and the exodar were programmed inside Outland, that's why you need to cross a portal to get there, and there are loading screens. Blizzard is too lazy to remake the zones in azeroth. And they kept both cities away from BFA. So I highly doubt we will ever have anything really important there. In legion there were some instanced quest in exodar, but nothing more

this city has been the "fullest" for me during the easter event.. i hope this city gets updated, even if it was like what they did for dalaran in legion (i've been wanting some more/new content about belves anyways :/)
I have a Blood Elf Mage 85, but my the stone back is always a tied to the Silver Moon .. whenever I need to learn skills or profession, I do not use a portal, but take and use the stone back with a feeling of going back home..
During seasonal celebrations people journey back to these forgotten major cities. Like during Easter and stuff. So yea... Blizzard has done something to bring people back to these ghost towns every so often. But I agree, it does happen very rarely.
When i joined WoW in 2004 i knew that it was addictive, i vowed to myself that i wouldn't get addicted... But it was already too late... I am now mindcontrolled by WoW's Music
One last time? Nah! With a Time machine, we can just experience those great memories over and over again! Like, the time when I first downloaded WoW and saw the TBC Login screen, and I just thought that I was in for a great time.
Glory to the Sin'Dorei!
