Wonder if we'll ever see these in ETS2; still waiting on that tuning pack. Much as I would love to get and drive a real one, ETS2 has been the closest thing.

Would probably look like any volvo city buses today. Why would it need different design as current volvo buses have low floor, lots of space and have great visibility.

They are allowed. At least in the country where i live in. It was confusing for me too. And the idea of bigger truck doing the same work as a bunch of smaller trucks / vans. The reason to use vans instead of trucks is for example bread delivery. Bread is baked at 3am and needs to be in hundred stores by 7am, so you need many vans rather than a few big trucks to deliver on time.
The thing that is most important for companies that will buy those trucks are how much they can save in $ not if they are Eco friendly or less noisy or better for the workers, the most important thing is COST SAVINGS you forgot to add, or did you actually forget...
Volvo Trucks has a strong commitment to responsible sourcing, use and disposal of materials. We closely follow the development of recycling technologies and participate in several projects where electric vehicle (EV) batteries, reaching their operational capacity limit, can be transferred to other applications such as storage in solar energy systems. Batteries represent a substantial value and when capacity has dropped below usability, there are several options. Re-use in residential or industrial energy storage is expected to be a major application. As volumes of batteries increase, remanufacturing, recycling and reconditioning will become a viable and increasingly important option as a complement to using virgin materials. Today, recycling of Li-Ion batteries is mainly driven by economic interest of cobalt and nickel. The Volvo Group is a member of the Global Battery Alliance (GBA), and we are working towards a battery passport. We are also a member of the European Battery Alliance (EBA).
How can an electric vehicle improve congestion? Maybe nose congestion, because it wont liberate gases (which are very clean with new cathalizers) near me. But the power obviously come from somewhere, which is some fabric using petrol.
luis felipe Wellenkamp trucks like this can drive in urban areas in the middle of the night without waking up people. Trucks driving at night don’t need to drive during day time. Hence less congestion.
The only thing that i disagree with is that electric trucks make the job more enjoyable as the sound of a trucks diesel engine means a lot to me. It is a trademark of those vehicles.
I totaly understand that, however I guess it's important to move on as well. We have been using the cumbustion engine for over 100 years on this planet now.
@@jacobski5726 I'm not saying i'm not a fan of electric trucks because the concept is a good idea but a big turbo diesel straight 6 has a charm that no electric motor will ever have.

Dear Volvo. If you're going to tell us about how great electric trucks are, also mention that electricity is much cheaper than diesel, and more importantly, you don't have to remember to fill your adblue. Now both beancounters and drivers want them...
They not telling us they can only do 3 hours work fully loaded and then its back on charge to get zapped from that lovely nuclear plant that cannot get rid of its waste
The range depends to a large extent on external conditions such as the weather and wind resistance, together with the weight of the truck and the driver’s driving style. We all know that we need to find alternatives to diesel, electric trucks being one of them. However, all new technologies are developed over time. There are already plenty of possibilities to use electric trucks on shorter routes that only require overnight charging at the home depot, then the charging time is no problem. As a network of fast chargers is built out, electric trucks can perform increasingly longer transport tasks. The development of batteries will also improve rapidly in the near future.
Well when it’s made and out of the factory it’s better for the environment but making one (normal car battery, not a truck) is as bad for the environment as driving thousands of kilometers with diesel or gasoline so I think you should use LBG (liquified biogas) instead Here’s why: It has a little bit more energy than diesel and gasoline Its cheaper (biogas is measured in kg and not liters. One kg is about 1,5 liters gas or diesel) It almost doesn’t emit any CO2 And I like the engine sound

Yes, EV's are much better for the environment than ICE vehicles, yes even if you take batteries into account, yes even if the powergrid is not very clean.
