Live in Texas and I’ve got mature, combo skin with a pretty oily t-zone, a ton of texture, large pores and a LOT of discoloration.....and I absolutely ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ this foundation. My days are 16+ hours long and this has been THE only foundation, out of over 100 tried, that did NOT settle into my fine lines.....that one shocked the sh*t out of me honestly. I use a brush and do a finishing tap-around with a sponge. Set very lightly with powder per usual. It worked perfectly with all my serums/moisturizers/sunscreen/primers.
When not just your female coworkers but your male coworkers as well, comment that you look great, it’s def a keeper 🤣
The most impressive “wear” of this foundation is 1) ZERO settling into lines/wrinkles or pores, 2) smoothed out texture like NOTHING else I’ve EVER seen/tried, 3) it’s staying power and 4) it looks extremely skin-like without any cakey-ness whatsoever.
Bottom line, you truly have to try foundation for yourself. It honestly could go either way and how it performs for one is not necessarily how it will perform for another. Holy grails (etc. ELDW....worst foundation EVER) can be failures for some, and vice versa 🤷🏼♀️
Did you use the McGrath primer? Since Angie did not buy the primer, I was curios if that might be part of the problem.
Oh my gosh! Yes, I totally agree. I commented above that total strangers have been telling me all week that my skin looks so good. It really looks like skin, I'm shocked at how skin like it looks. Also, most days I didn't use a primer or setting powder and it lasted all day. Yesterday I used the Rimmel stay matte powder and it stayed completely matte. I'm in loveeee, like you I also own many many foundations this is definitely my ❤😍
shivondevi thank you so much for your response...much appreciate! I live in Austin!💕
Diane Miller actually, no, I did not buy the primer nor powder. I considered it but thought I had spent enough by that point, LOL!! I follow my typical primer routine(s) which goes like this: use tatcha primer all over, concentrating the majority of the product on the “outer” areas of my face and under the eyes (this has been LIFE CHANGING for my under-eye area 😳); a pore filling primer in areas that need it.
I change up my primers sometimes “just because” but still use whatever I do choose that day in the same manner. Smoothing primer on the exterior of face and under eyes and pore filling where needed.
shivondevi when I got home from work on the first day I wore this foundation, I was sitting in my car with the door open, just taking a breather and my 20yo daughter came outside and said “mom, your foundation looks REALLY good! What are you wearing? It looks so smooth, like, wow!” and she eyeballed me half to death, all up in my face, literally within inches, lol!!
Mind you, I get up at 4am, I’m at work by 6am. I often work until about 7-7:30pm, never take a lunch and I work from a “standing desk”.....which basically means I stand all day, I have no chair. I come home and hit the ground running with a hubby, 5 kids (8, 10, 16, 18 & 20) and two of the cutest Pomeranians known to exist who happen to think they are glued to my feet as soon as I walk through the door.
Needless to say, I’m one busy woman 😝 I consider myself a pretty hard/tough critic when it comes to foundation......honestly, my expectations are prolly unreasonable. I don’t have super-model-perfect skin nor do I have a simple issue or two.
I’m VERY red in the face, uneven tone, large pores, fine lines and texture.....texture is THE worst, I swear 😭 This foundation smoothed over my face like some freaky “veil”. I was looking in my car mirror (worst mirror EVER!) and I kept staring in disbelief at how smooth my skin looked.
I encourage everyone to just go and get a sample of this (or just buy it, you can always return at Sephora) and try it out for yourself! Maybe it will be HG status for you, maybe it’ll suck balls..... you’ll never know until you try it! 😊
Side note, I’ve heard many people prefer this one without a primer. I’ve not tried it that way yet, but I think I’m going to try leaving out my primer tomorrow.
Hi!
Who uses Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 because of Angie, and are really pleased with this mineral sunscreen? clicks thumbs up!!!
I'm Angie! It's been a great solution for sunny days and as a primer before makeup!
I warmly thank you for all your commitment, work and sympathy in sharing with us your knowledge and experience with so many skin care and make-up products!
Happy weekend!
Maria (from Portugal)
Maria Nunes I use it as a primer, and sometimes I mix it with bb cream or liquid foundation... I love it, and I thank Angie for the discovery!
Me ! I love it !
Giulietta Ciambotti hum! Mix with bb cream or foundation... I’ll try that! Thanks! 😉
muoian yes!
Love the Australian Gold & so thankful to Angie for the recommendation! I just brush some Laura Mercier translucent powder over it & head out! Love it!!!
oh my goodness Angie, the fact that you go into such detail and try these foundations in so many different conditions is really impressive. I think you are the most thorough Foundation reviewer I have found so far, and the fact that your age and skin conditions are so similar to mine make this a slam-dunk. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do
WOW 😮! Haven’t gotten 1 minute into the video and I must say, this is the best I’ve ever seen your skin look with foundation.
Really appreciate your wear tests and close-ups, showing pores and oil! Thanks for being real!
Looking forward to your comparison on the Chanel Lumiere Velvet "Old Version" vs. "New". I love the original & hope the new version stacks up-Thanks!
when is it coming. out?
@@kimberligalvez2014 The new formula already has been released and the old formula discontinued
oh. thanks.
She did it already.
I know it's not the point, but OMG, your TOP!!! So, so cute with those sleeves and such a flattering neckline. Also, of course I appreciate how thorough your reviews are! :)
I love how thorough your foundation reviews are. They’re so in-depth & I really appreciate your hard work in reviewing them, thank you. Much love to your 💕 Looking gorgeous as ever x
I definitely use Australian Gold because of Angie’s review! Thanx Angie!
I just tried the new Anastasia Beverly Hills luminous foundation today and my skin looks beautiful. I’m 54 and have trouble with many foundations. So far I’m really loving this one.
THANK YOU for yet another GREAT "Foundation Friday"! You are so thorough, sweet, & thoughtful. I/we APPRECIATE YOU & all the HARD work you put into your efforts to help US! Hugs & Blessings 2U!
Angie, I really love the close up! It make me realise we all have pores and imperfections at this age! Thank goodness xxx
I’ve been following you for a few years now & really appreciate your foundation road tests. I’m 42 with oily skin & large pores. I’ve struggled with ‘polka dot’ pores with sooooo many foundations. Thanks for showing I’m not alone!! 😘
will you be trying the Natasha Denona foundation? i heard people like it better for large pores and mature skin than the Pat Mcgrath foundation...
Surprisingly, Natasha Denona foundation is cheaper..!
Which foundation?
I've got super duper extremely oily skin and I'm 65! I've long since quit worrying about it. I love this foundation and simply blot carefully throughout the day (per usual). It looks like I have great even skin without seeing foundation. I use Revlon photofinish primer but not on the nose area, where I carefully apply the Becca matte primer. I apply minuscule amounts of foundation at a time using the Stansout sponge. Love this!
Very pretty look...
I’m excited for your Chanel comparison too! I’d love to see that video, showing all your “holy grail” favorites at once. Just one each!
Stunning as always Angie, that top is gorgeous.... so excited for the Chanel review! xo
No sunscreen?!? This retin-a (thank you for letting me know about the benefits of retin-a) Australian is shocked! 😃
@@cath8820 Only at night... it was 7PM & the sun was down!
When you checked in after lunch on the last day I really saw a difference in color. It seemed like it was darker or more yellow. Maybe it was the lighting but I said, whoa!, to myself when you popped back In!
Wow! Her commitment to this!!
I always eagerly await your Foundation Fridays. I watch and go back and rewatch your past foundation videos when I'm looking to try a new one. So informative!!!♥️
I would love a video on how you disguised polka-dot pores! So many ruined makeup days because of it.
Lisa Thornton I tap on them with my fingers, when I set the powder I don’t ‘’drag” same, taping motion.
Will do!
And for awful fine lines. Everything settles in, I look cracked. Maybe I will buy that revlon candid powder. I use the LM translucent powder in medium 😞
would love that also
Yep, I feel like my forehead is cracked... 🤣
I absolutely love the variables you analyze when you do a review.
It’s always nice to have a new foundation in the arsenal even though it might not be a heat and humidity friendly foundation for oily to combination skin. Thanks for the thorough review and the look at the foundation with no sunscreen. I’m glad the addition of sunscreen didn’t seem to make a difference because that is a skincare step that is a must.
Yay been waiting for you to review this! I love a sheer glowy foundation, not sure if I'd drop that much for a foundation so I'll just live vicariously through you. I thought your skin looked beautiful. Thank you for the great video as always!
Angie, I’m 53 with normal to dry skin and I LOVE this foundation like you...without primer, just a bit of Tatcha silk canvas on nose area and sunscreen. It doesn’t get shiny on me at all and it’s the first time my husband has ever said “you should wear whatever that face makeup you wore last week was” (when I tried the Fenty he made this comment to go back to the PM)! I do NOT like the primer because it makes me too mat but I honestly think it might work really well for your skin! I can send you a few pumps of mine in a sample container if you need.
Awww, you're the sweetest Sarah! So happy this works for you & hubs likes it too! No need to send, I can get a sample at Sephora, but thanks for offering!
Thank you so much for your commitment to bring us an honest and in depth review of new foundations!! Even though I have dry skin your reviews really help to know what to try and the ones to stay away from! Again, thank you so much for the time and work you put into your videos!!
Thank you for trying the foundation without sunscreen. It is truly appreciated!
I use Australian Gold because of you, but only when I’m going to be outside a lot. I find it hard to remove. My favorite is the Paula’s Choice, which I also use because of you!
I literally wait for your videos to pop up. Though I do not use makeup, I always learn something from you
I am eagerly waiting for another skincare one though ... just saying 😜
You are amazing! I have been following you for several years now and you look more beautiful as the years go by. Thank you for your extensive research and reviews on makeup. I absolutely trust your opinion and love that you have a good balance in price ranges.
I find that adding an HD "white" setting powder (like my dermablend sample) over a primer pr my Australian Gold sunscreen provides protection for many different foundations in addition to adding a setting powder on top.
great review...no can do in FLA...I find the heat and humidity here just doesn't support heavy makeup application in the summer. thanks...I hope new Chanel works..have a great weekend!
I love what you've done with your hair! Shine and dimension!
I love your in depth foundation reviews. I always wear sunscreen and have large pores so I really appreciate your wear tests and reviews.
A gloriously thorough review! Thank you so much!
I tried a sample today and liked it. I only used a really small amount and used my fingers to apply. Have no complaints about it. I have normal, reactive skin that is feeling rather dehydrated at the moment thanks to winter. Could have used this with no powder.
Your reviews are so helpful, Angie! I appreciate the time and effort you put into testing these foundations. You are my source for foundation purchase decisions! Thank you -
HAHAHA!!!!! I got caught looking at your under eye area! So funny!
Great learning about this foundation and hanging out with you.
Remind me to ask if your air conditioner is working before I ever come visit! Lol
Ohh, Angie, can you review the Kevin Aucoin balm and the Charlotte Tilbury new one?
Definitely the CT!
One huge yes for KA
I really appreciate this channel, because my mom recently told me that she wanted to try makeup again after not wearing any since the 90s. So I've been doing some research and this channel is amazing for help!
I have traditionally preferred a lighter coverage, bb cream or tinted moisturizer, especially after clearing up my cystic acne, decades ago now. Love the Australian Gold tinted spf 50 mixed with a very small amount of foundation. Because of the dryness of the zinc it really mixes well w serum and Waterweight foundations. I have you to thank for the discovery. Love your product reviews and your vids in general!
You are always so thorough in your videos, and I really appreciate that!!
I actually like my skin showing through for a more natural look. So, this foundation is a hit with me. I also live in LA a very dry climate. I’m in my 50s and it made me look 10 years younger. My coworkers have commented on what have I done different. I usually don’t use products with alcohol and didn’t notice it here. Last all day without touch up. It’s better than most products out there now. Thank you!
Do you use a primer with it?
Can you do a tutorial on your eyeshadow in this video please? It is absolutely beautiful!
Farah Pathan you’re right. It is gorgeous! Unfortunately, the Nars palette Angie used is sold out everywhere.
Lori Pare yeah I was looking for it on Sephora and Ulta’s website, but it’s not available.😞
Thanks for another great job on Foundation Friday. Thank you, too, for your honesty-so glad I found your channel. ❤️
Good morning my dear. Happy Friday to you. Hehe. Love. It’s Chanel. Just one n. 😉👍🏻
Hi Angie, I think the first shade matched your skin color better.
Hi Angie, I have always loved your lip colour so today I went to Sephora’s and picked up a lip liner from Urban Decay but my colour is Peytoe. I came home and put it on and I love the colour and now to see how it wears. Thank you for all you videos, I watch you every Tuesday and Friday. 🇨🇦
Hi Angie, at $68 dollars it should do your dishes for you too!! Love your videos and up close and doing the best wear tastes out there. Have a great weekend. Hugs n Love to you xoxo
@Denise D You took the words right out of my mouth, verbatim. I work too hard for my money and the $68 price point for an ounce-ish of product borders on obscene.
Your reviews are the best!
Hi Angie. What an interesting vid. So many varients to this foundation. Such a huge difference after blotting and powder. The biggest difference for me was with and without primer and sunscreen. Thanks again for your wonderful information and thorough vid. Sending you sunshine from Oz xxx😊🌞🥂
For $68, I will be passing on this one! I love that red lippie on you!!
I do use AustralianGold because of you! 🥰
Me too. I use it alone without foundation. I can’t find a foundation that looks any better for smoothing out texture. And it’s really inexpensive!
Me three. I mix a big dollop of Australian gold with about 5 drops of Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet (sob!) and mix them together and then apply-sets up and covers nicely.
Have you had your Color IQ done at Sephora? I’m a 1yo8 and the colors they suggest for foundation are spot on and takes away the guess work when choosing a color. Thanks for your reviews. I think sunscreen really changes the way foundation sits on the skin. I see a big difference in how my foundation sits and wears when I apply it during the day with sunscreen and in the evening without sunscreen.
I had Color IQ done a couple years ago but it never matches me right... happy it works well for you!
I know glowy/shiny isnt your fave, but it looked beautiful on you at its glowiest, you can pull it off ❤️
Was hoping you would review this! I knew you would give us a thorough run down on it!
I would love to see a Foundation Friday with the Kevin Aucoin Balm Foundation!
Such detail- love it! Thank you for your hard work. Angie , your eyes are beautiful.
I love this foundation. I have combo skin in summer and every foundation goes shiny on me by the afternoon if it isn’t a matte foundation (which has other issues.). it didn’t settle into my pores either. I do use primer and I did dust on a little finishing powder, but I always do that.
Hi Angie! :) I was looking forward to watch this review because usually what works for you works for me too. I love testing new foundations but to be honest Pat McGrath is not one of my favorite brands. I was somehow willing to test it if you have said that you absolutely love it but I'm quite happy that I get to save some money now. Thank for the awesome review as always. xoxo
I wonder if it would work better in the winter.
I’m currently visiting Florida and any makeup I’m putting on is dripping off within 30 min... ordered some of your favs I can’t get at home so looking forward to trying the Colleen Rothschild hair stuff, elta md 44 & Paula’s choice sunscreen, and some shades of L’Oréal true match and Revlon candid foundations. Thanks for trying all the products and giving us really good and real reviews.
Great video! When you are reviewing drugstore foundations would you consider reviewing No.7 Match Made Custom Blend Foundation Drops? Lisa J recently reviewed and it looks amazing- I would like to see how it is on more mature skin! Thanks!
i have the drops and use sometimes with primer. i like them. can't go wrong for $14.00 worth a try.
I was in Sephora last Saturday and found a perfect match. I got a sample and have tried it once. I really really like it but I just cant bring myself to pay that much. I just feel like I can find something else just as good at a more reasonable price.
As always great job I'm so looking forward to you trying the new Charlotte Tilbury Foundation that is all the latest rage
Thank you for this! How you review foundations is the best for really understanding how the product performs. 👏
Please revisit this in the Winter. I'm also very oily, yet I'd Love to see your Winter review.
Love love your Foundation Fridays for Over 50s! This one would be a No for me because of the three P's: Polka dot Pores and Price😁
Thanks for the review and saving me money! now I don't have to try this one. I recently bought the Uomo and Dose of Color Foundations which are both beautiful on oily mature skin and long lasting. I just ordered the new Kevin Aucoin Balm which is supposed to be good for oily skin too. Would love your thoughts on that one. I love that you have supported Lisa J and her BK brushes, I am a fan of hers will be ordering those soon too.
Hi Angie, I picked up the full set, including the primer and setting powder. Like you, I think it is such a pretty foundation. I also have had problems with primer interacting with this foundation though. Including the Pat McGrath. I have normal skin in the summer, and normal to dry in the winter, and did not have any problems getting shiny with this foundation. My review video goes up on Monday.
How come you’re not in every major brands launch PR list? Your reviews are a must!!
Thank you for all the work you do for these foundation video's!
Is the L’Oreal serum one similar or better?
Honestly, i bought so many high end foundations , one i still miss, La Praire but next week, so i tried occasinally Beauty Blender foundation which is not high end at all , and it is the best on my oily-mx skin. Thx to the review, was ready to order from UK this foundation..
I have been mixing the australian gold with the make prem, and it's a really good combo!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blouse!!
Good morning, Angie!! I just got this and tried so hard to love it, but wasn't enough coverage for me--and for some reason mine seemed to stay so tacky--probably because I used more for coverage--great review, I should have waited! ❤️ 💋 Lisa
LisaLisaD1 have you tried mixing a tiny bit of Dermacol in it to get better coverage? Just an idea to get some use out of a very expensive foundation. I sometimes do this with foundations when I want more coverage.
I love a more sheer look for foundation! Funny how we all like different things! xo ~a.
I have oily skin and loved this foundation but I'm 99% sure it made me break out. I have a sample that has seemed to last forever but I'm going to clear up my skin and drop the other new product I was using at the time and try again.
Hi Angie, catching up on your video. Appreciate this review as I use Australian Gold because of you and this helps so much. Thanks for the extensive testing and nice to know how long it will wear. Looks a little better with the Elta MD which I also use. Those Pros and Cons are awesome, Have a wonderful week. Hugs.,....Sherry
Got a not very generous sample of the Pat McGrath at Sephora. I apply foundation very lightly but the sample was just about enough for one use. I applied by dotting it over my face that had been primed with serum, moisturizer, SS and primer. I patted it in and then blotted with a damp Beauty Blender. The coverage was a light medium. The shade I picked was a perfect match. My skin is normal with small pores. I saw a little settling in pores, but other than that, the finish and lasting were outstanding, but no better than the Koh Gen Do Aqua I'm currently using. I thought it was a tiny bit more drying than the Koh Gen Do. Since it has alcohol and fragrance, I'm going to pass.
Beautiful foundation but it faded FAST throughout the day and I am not that oily....for the price better options. Love your videos!! XX
Thanks for reviewing it so thoroughly.
Wow Ang. that was a great review! It will be double that price in Australia, so I think I will give it a miss.
Love your earrings!
I have dry skin and I am NOT using a foundation with alcohol as the fourth ingredient. I don’t care how many other ingredients it has to counteract that drying alcohol. Just doesn’t make sense when there are lots of other options without alcohol or it’s much lower down on the list.
Hi Angie, I love your reviews and find thag your foundation preferences are close to mine. I discovered Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet and CYO Lifeproof thanks to you! Looking forward to your views on the reformulation of the Chanel foundation (which has been out here in Europe), and hopefully also Suqqu’s cream foundation which I love (alongside Sensai’s cellular performance foundation), which I have found to be very comfortable to wear. Thanks for your videos!!!
I can totally appreciate the pass on the set...that’s a little pricey. I love the fact that you actually talk about the ingredients and what they do. It makes my geeky side happy. I don’t think you do a lot of of reviews of fellow youtubers but I know you do a little bit (brushes recently for example). So, I’m hoping you’ll put into the queue a review of Nikkia Joy’s setting powder. I’m curious about how it works for you because I think our skin is pretty similar. I know...so many product requests so little time. If you can’t, totally understand. 🙂
I have the same skin type, issues, age and colour as you so I really value your opinions. I think this is way too greasy for me so thank you for saving me a ton of money x Can you please try the new Charlotte Tilbury one please?
I’m a “I always wear sunscreen - 2 diff brands” kinda gal. For $68 the company should have tested this foundation over sunscreen! Angie, do you let the sunscreen set for 10-15 prior to applying your foundation?
Good morning Angie... I think I’m passing on this one. Yet the new Airbrush by CTillberry seems very nice. Although I wonder if I should stick with my holy grail Lancôme Renergie. Love how that foundation makes my skin look. As well as your holy grail. The Chanel.
We have so many new launches... I’m like. Seriously they are pumping them out this year.
Although you really like this one. And I’m stumped. Your recommendations are always spot on.
I got a sample of the new CT from sephora this week... it wasn't enough to do a whole face, just enough to help with shade selection BUT, it looks so good on!! I ordered it today so will have review next week! Fingers crossed, it's a good one! xo ~a.
YAY! Another look book coming!!!!!
Thank you for this fabulous review as I had purchased all the sunscreens you mentioned from your previous reviews and had also purchased this foundation the other day on my own. I hadn't tried it with the Elta Md so I'm going to try that and see if it lasts a little longer. It's a beautiful foundation the first few hours so hopefully this will make it last longer.
OMG what a great and closeup review. This is the type of reviews I look forward when i need information about a product, for me this is a foundation that would not work for me is too expensive and it just don't justify the price the texture consistency and way that makes the skin looks is a pass for me. Thanks for ur review i really like, nice and honest.
Not sure if you already know but your favorite foundation just got renamed to Chanel Ultra Le Teint Velvet
But I’m unsure if the formula changed
SweetPerfectScents I was told this by a rep and Stephanie Marie here on UA-cam
Thanks for the info---yes, they reformulated. Have you seen it in store?
D Smith Not yet. I’m wondering if it’s better or worse. Maybe Angie will do a foundation Friday on it!
Yes, I heard and have been talking about it for a few weeks. I got the new version this week and I'm putting it head to head with the original. Video will be ready for you on Tuesday!!
@@AngieHotandFlashy If you like it they should give you a lifetime supply! You are responsible for so many people using it!
Thanks! I hoping you would test this foundation. Especially that you used the Australian Gold because I use that sunscreen.
I’ll stick with my Lancôme foundations. I just got a Tom Ford stick foundation per Michele Wang recommendation, so we’ll see about that, would love the ease of a stick that will actually work for me.
Thanks for the review Angie. I just got my BK brushes today. Happy dance.
Thanks for doing this review!! I could not find a cool enough shade, and for the price, I expect not just a good match but an excellent one. xo
Glad you reviewed this- you saved me from purchasing it.🤗
Angie, since you’re always interested in healthier options, have you heard of Inika Certified Organic makeup? My hair salon has started carrying it. Thought you might be like to check it out.
How do you keep from getting marks from your sunglasses in the make up on your nose and upper cheeks?
Also, thank you so much for being so thorough in your testing!!!
Thanks for the review - for that price it needs to be perfect. Even though I have normal skin, I don't think I want to take a chance.
What a pretty look! Might you do a tutorial on this please?
Thank you! It's pretty much the same look from this tutorial except I switched up the shimmer color from the pink one to the taupe one: ua-cam.com/video/DiM6CpBjNwk/v-deo.html
