I wonder if you put this playlist in the description, if it would make UA-cam put the commercials between the songs instead of during the songs? Wonderful Oscar Peterson concert!!!! Thank you for posting!!!!

Jesus, I had forgotten just how remarkable this great man was.. I saw him live I think the same year as this and was transfixed.. then I got to spend a bit of time with him one afternoon while I was on contract in Hong Kong.. a beautiful human being, and we were blessed by his presence..
This record is something else. One can only imagine the amount of preparation that must have gone into this performance, including all the other concerts in the lead-up to this event. Incredibly thought-through, imaginative arrangements; masterfully executed on top of that. It listens as if a whole orchestra was playing, from start to finish. And Peterson's command of the piano here just beggars description - especially the way he handles dynamic changes, also the transparency with which voices are being led. Plus, some of his solos are simply stratosferic! Not only the pace is impressive, but how clearly articulated they are as well.
One of the trio’s best live-gigs. The Japanese are dedicated jazz followers, as you can hear folks. Superb swingin’ stuff that makes you feel alive. So enjoy the ride, G’day & Cheers!
I first hear Mr. Peterson in the early 1970`s when I found one of his records in a second hand store in Boulder Colo. .. I remain a fan peace to you Oscar & thanks for all the music
I saw him live in 1960 on a British tour. There was a belief that he had concentrated on technique too much over the need to swing, but I never believed that and this performance from a few years later showed that brilliant technique - he seemed to get notes from the cracks between the keys - as well as wonderful jazz feeling.
@@horasefu1438 Thanks! I also thought about the Keith Jarrett Trio now, although his sound comes closer to that of "The Necks", and also the man himself is quite a dick when it comes to his behaviour towards the audience.
An hour and forty minutes of eargasm. This trio was so tight! I don’t mean only in the sense of being of one mind and soul (which is patently clear), but also literally: they positioned themselves so close to each other that it would have been impossible to find a way through.
The best performance from them ever and my favorite jazz record of all time, because of your video i know this album exists and ordered it from japan yesterday. The state-side record released in the united states had to been the one the tour in the late 80s (87 i believe, which its still a good recording but nothing compared to this)
Wow. Never heard this before. Probably the best live gig I've heard the trio give. I first saw this trio in Leeds, UK in the mid-1960s and I certainly don't remember them being so exciting and dynamic.

You are one blessed individual. This music is beyond description. Live long & prosper
yeah me too

Wow. Lucky you. Hong Kong, my home of almost 30 years. Out of curiosity, what were you on contract for there?
I was on contract to the Hong Kong Hilton as a trumpet player and drummer
Anyday I get something new from Oscar is a fabulous day. Today's a great day. Oscar in his prime.

The King ...I saw him playing fifty Years ago..What a magic night!
Thats 1973..what were your sights and sounds, feelings and experiences, kind squire, from heart and memory?
Once upon a time in Blues City. Bravo.

Jazz as an idea was so prevalent during the reformation of character in the international art scene.
The moust perfect record ever oscar played.....tancks for inspired me of the age of 8years of age 🙏❤️🤗

I always think I have heard all of the cool jazz there is, and then this...
Genius, all three of them. Never was a better trio, probably never again.
I would at least mention the Hiromi Uehara Trio, even if only honourably.
@@oliverbender3764 good call, I up this absolutely without a second of doubt.

Gosto muito..... Oscar Peterson e incrível.......tenho em vinil
1964, what a year
Bagulho de extrema qualidade, irmãs e irmãos!
As far as I'm concerned...Oscar should have won the Oscar for his MASTERPIECE Soundtrack for The 1978 MOVIE The Silent Partner
Thanks Papa Peter. #2
I mean #1
thank you
Deleitarse con esto es sencillamente sublime, y más cuando en estos tiempos lo que abunda es el pésimo gusto, por ejemplo el reguetón.
Bien dicho...
Greatest fans of the greatest era
Perfection of playing..thats the really jazz fraises ....❤
love it
60 years later, nothing comes close. Why?
1 part technical brilliance, 1 part soul. 100% Oscar Peterson Trio
masterpiece
Will need to rebuild civilization soon…..Oscar Peterson shall save us all….thank you Tokyo

I hear voices in the background, it’s only me?
No it's not just you. That's Oscar himself vocalizing along with the notes he's playing. It's a musician thing.
Didn't Toni Harper tour with Oscar around this time?
Comentários: Uma passarela de vaidades!
Where was this concert in Tokyo?
17:30
why is it only oscar peterson records where i feel like i can always here someone talking???
is oscar peterson "singing" the notes at the same time he plays, if you watch videos you will notice it. (or maybe that's not what you mean hehehe)
Errol Garner was famous for making "jazz noises," too
1964年と言うとピアノでもベースでも同じくドラムでもジャズなどを演奏できるプレイヤーなど日本に居なかった時代だが、ピーターソンのようなアメリカから本物のジャズプレイヤーが来てみんなビックリしたろうな。
