Johan Ogie EDM is EDM. Dubstep is not the newest, it originated in the late 90's. Was popular around 2002-2005 then resurfaced in 2008ish. There is new genres and they're great in my opinion but this melodic dubstep will can never be topped. EDM genres seem to recycle so I'm sure dubstep will come back. Dubstep evolued, like A FUCKING GENRE NORMAL WILL DO, every genres evolue, if you compare the drum n bass of 2012 and of 2017, you'll see a lot of diference (maybe i'm getting crazy, maybe don't Has too much difference, but has DIFFERENCE), if you compare dubstep of 2010 and the dubstep 2018, you'll see difference, because THE DUBSTEP EVOLUED! Also, still has music with this old tune, but, is more "underground" . Rusko still doing this, like, "hot", look out, and, Always will has someone doing "old dubstep", lol
The first roots in dubstep do not belong here. Made in 2005, Midnight Request Line by Skream, was some old school dubstep, and I believe to be one of the first successful dubstep songs. Yes, it is quite different, because other artists later began adding more and more harshness into dubstep, morphing the hell out of it. Then Skrillex happened, making it so harsh that all we get today is the same repetitive songs.
Yak Lind Jake said in the original comment, "It is not ORIGINAL Dubstep roots but it is a great tune." Your point is invalid. And yes, while Skream (and pretty much all early-age dubstep producers) are excellent artists, you can't say that dubstep was further ruined as time passed. 1) This is a matter of opinion. There is no right, wrong, ruining, or perfecting. 2) If you can't handle the evolution of a genre, then don't even mention it. Dubstep has evolved greatly in the last 3-4 years alone, sound-wise and technologically. So what if artists want to go all out and make the craziest, harshest songs you've ever heard? In the end, music is all for fun anyway. Anyway, there's one thing we can agree on: Skrillex sucks. Although he's done a lot of things for the EDM community (and has even released a FEW good songs), he's basically ruined a lot of people's distinction between different electronic music genres.
This is the music that i listened to in the prime of my youth. Such pure nostalgia it brings tears to my eyes. Such awesome art. Shoutout to anyone who's listening with me here in 2024 and feeling sweet nostalgia

Dave Ganj I can see your opinion, this is when the pre "brostep" era happened but I liked it. It wasnt too OTT like it is now. The dubstep youre refering to is really old school dubstep. Some could say its the real dubstep, before when it was about additive repetitive basslines and a dark vibe. Back in the Skream, benga, hatcha, digital mistiks days.

Many comments about how much people miss Dubstep and I understand but, it's not just Dubstep, good music comes through every decade and just like that it goes away, many of you have great memories with this music and that is the reason you miss it, many have great memories with several types of music in different decades, for some is Hard haouse, I had the most amazing years with that music in the 90's, I even used to D.J. some others have drum and bass, dark step, basic house, progressive, trip hop, E.T.C. it all comes down to what you like the most and what is "IN" at that moment, you enjoy it with your friends and out it goes, new music will come along and the cycle starts again, it's also part of getting older. But good music will always be there, we just need to be open minded and go with the evolution of sound, music.
Just Ave0n ~ Recruiter I really think you're right - it _was_ a revolution. Dubstep was a pretty sizable departure from most other forms of electronic music, and with the advent of the internet and UA-cam, it had a platform to reach the world immediately. It changed our generation's views on and taste in music for sure. You don't even have to like true dubstep - it (and music like it) was just so huge in the late 00s that it led to a massive boom in electronic music in general that's still very apparent to this day. Pretty cool to have watched it all unfold, right from the beginning.
I had this stuck in my head i was like screw it i need to find this gold just wrote the words I could remember and here I am enjoying this legend. 12 years this music was stuck somewhere in my brain ...
+LAUS art I think what he means is that this dubstep is better. When do you find good dubstep that fits the song, or doesn't overdo the drops. Why is there all this snake charmer bullshit and random ass noise in the new dubstep? Clarified? Needs to be more chill for me.
MLG R8DR805 That's subjective m8, check it. What you like doesn't necessarily match what other people like. There are always people who say the older thing is better.
Early dubstep parties back in '08-'11 were so special.. I remember "Skanking" to this, completely dark, the only light was from the few of the 100 people with lighters.. Epic times!

Doing heavy research and going back and listening to the songs that made dubstep rise. I want to start Producing old school heavy dubstep like this. I'm done producing this mainstream BS I've been making.

But good music will always be there, we just need to be open minded and go with the evolution of sound, music.
but this shit was like a revolution , nothing compare to this was created before..
Tom McKenna agree my friend, this changed my taste in music..
Born in 89 🎉 anybody who still bumping this you have my respect
it's 2016 and this is still one of the best dubstep tracks... i hope we'll have a good dubstep year soon again :(
This banger popped into my head tonight from nowhere, Merry Christmas
I had this stuck in my head i was like screw it i need to find this gold just wrote the words I could remember and here I am enjoying this legend. 12 years this music was stuck somewhere in my brain ...
Gen Z would never know the true power of these legendary songs
Fr
such a jam
now days dubstep is watered down has no feel or raw emotion to it at all
Stop it with the generational bullshit already, what do u know anyway -.-
👀really?
Back in the day when Dubstep was actully good.
+EDM Owl ''back in the day'' My god xDD
+StreatBeatsAudio “StreetBeatzAudioZ3” Subwoofers hes right tho
+EDM Owl I dont understand these comments. There's loads of good dubstep still being released every month.
This song will never get OLD..😣
I have a feeling that maybe at the end of 2015/beginning of 2016 this kind of dubstep will rise again like in 2006-2011. :)
You can only say Riddim, mate,
Let's hope this happens! I want Emalkay, Rusko and Black Sun Empire back
Good thing is Kromestar, Loefah, Skream, VIVEK, Silkie and etc are still around :D
Ischi Vezon its sad how rusko wen tto skrillex's label and now his music is quite bad, but his old stuff was so boss
DolanPlaysMinecraft Black Sun Empire now make amazing drum and bass, dont take them away :(
This gave me goosebumps hearing it after years of years. 🥹♥️
Listening back to this nostalgia back in 2019, still gives me shivers.
Early dubstep parties back in '08-'11 were so special.. I remember "Skanking" to this, completely dark, the only light was from the few of the 100 people with lighters.. Epic times!
anyone here still in 2019?
Alivia Gladem me
Yea
When I look at you 😂
Whaddup??!

I first heard this in 2011, I was 15 back then. It was an absolute banger back then, and it still is now!

Amen ✝️💜
The background pic fills me with so much nostalgia
Doing heavy research and going back and listening to the songs that made dubstep rise. I want to start Producing old school heavy dubstep like this. I'm done producing this mainstream BS I've been making.
officialclinicalink I had that mindset 2 years ago when i ditched my old alias and made this one. I never looked back. Go for it mate, the only person that can do it is you!
Lmao this isn't oldschool dubstep
This was my first real Dubstep song :)
Gobberfisch mine too.
+Gobberfisch same, heard it on a WoW video and fell in love

I’m here, 7th August 2019 and just a few days away from my 23rd birthday and wow. Listening to this track and many other old school dubstep just time-warped me into a place of relaxation and just remembering the good old times. Ahhh....
