    deepwoken kind of went too much into the whole roguelike aspect. At first they wanted a brutal, unforgiving and scary world where exploration is important, but now the game is far too streamlined so more people are able to play the game.
    been watching antediluvian for around a month now, hopefully it's gonna have punishing gameplay and perhaps 3 life permadeath too (or even 1 life). as a fan of Made In Abyss I hope that the games has this feeling of "I better avoid confrontations, it's not worth risking it all" feeling that exploring the Abyss would have

      Yeah, the game is literally becoming a sandbox with all these buffs with items, you can literally farm like some crappy mid game boss for 30 minutes and then boom youve got yourself a curved and max power + bell all in 1 go (duke)

      ​@@flappyflap2693 i mean yea, but what I said about 3 lives was about Antediluvian... still, Deepwoken is far too gone into the casual "mmorpg + roguelike" state of the game to the point where they can't really just bring back old mechanics and make it feel as immersive as it was originally meant to be. Their last attempt at making the game less casual was back when Contractor first released, 10 grips in the depths to max it out and the community was ANGRY because of that (and kinda because it was weak at the time).

    they also ruined the feel of deepwoken when they made crypt blads and curved blades way easier to get to the point where everyone had them
    before legendary weapon users were very rare to encounter and you got excited when you got one now everyone is just walking around with glowsticks

    I was excited towards deepwoken release because it was a grounded medieval fantasy game, now it's just another fast paced anime battle arena with flashy powers.

    another game that emulates that desaturated feeling is "Lore Game", I dont have the link for it but you can find it by just searching up the name. at the time it was litterally what i thought deepwoken would feel like on release but what i got was nothing like that

      Bro exactly. Lore game has this mysterious presence that makes the game feel so alive compared to deepwoken. I love the fact that every weapon is special each individual to the game and really makes you feel like your on journey achieving all these cool weapons. But what I feel like is the main reason why lore game stuck out to me was the social interaction with the people. It never felt as if people where about to back stab me because they where trying to farm “exp” or to progress there character. It really felt like you where talking to actual people instead of a cringe emo edge lore void walker💀 what I wish deepwoken had more of was a since of “community” even sage4 pointed this out before stoped making videos about deepwoken.

    Bonzo, I really feel you man. Deepwoken's was really supposed to be a scary exploration game, one that makes you wonder if you wanna go there or there without knowing the dangers ahead.
    It was perfect during Wave 0 and early Wave 1, now its just 2 shotting every monster, and cheesing Chime with the most horrendous loser builds.

      Of course shits gonna hit less after you play through all of it but it dropped two whole years ago and a game based on exploration and the world you play in has barely updated that
      We got layer 2 and 2 new oaths after that and then no world update for like 5 months
      Then after the update they didn’t update the world for ANOTHER long period of time
      It’s crazy how the most lore we’ve gotten in the past 3 (or more I haven’t been counting) months is a short boss fight and new 5 sentences

    As a dev, it hurts to realize that deepwoken has strayed from the exploration it was as Drowned Gods, and still the combat is issued. Ill elaborate if anyone has complains. But the game requires further exploration aspects

    The way I see it, there are two different Deepwokens. There was the original Deepwoken that was being worked on, the one in development footage, the one that was grittier and more similar to Rogue, as the devs were just coming from that.
    Then, with the release of GPO and the GPO esque games, the devs realized that was where the platform was heading, and so switched the game entirely to become similar to that. I'm really sad that the game went this way, as a former Rogue player I was so excited for those early deep sneaks we got, I just don't get that same excitement for Deepwoken anymore.
    Hopefully Linnveil can fill that need of a modern, gritty, immersive game on Roblox

    Idk much about the lore but I feel like the devs should just say that the tester islands are lost to the depths and some sort of phenomenon occurs and they rise for a few seasons every few deepwoken years so that most players can experience those islands.
    And as for the old weapon swing styles I think it would be a good idea to drop all of the weapons with the different swing styles as “ancient” weapons. Maybe with that change we’ll see more people rocking the worshipper longsword or something (I love the worshipper longsword)

    I was somewhat hoping Deepwoken's conquest would be more like that from Tales from the Valley. That game is certainly not as "dark" and desaturated, quite the opposite in a way, but its very consistent in style and there are very few things that break the ordinary aesthetic of the game. You should check it out.

    The main reason for the locations being hollow is because, progressing slots got way easier. The irritating ways to uncap stats was a thing to make the game more punishing once you wipe a slot.

    FINALLY SOMEONE BRINGS IT UP! I have been arguing this for literally WAY over a year of how ugly deepwokens modernization and fashion is. The raw survivalist feel, in this huge open world was actually so incredible instead of this gross over saturated, bright, overly smooth and sandbox-like.
    Its not even just all the atmosphere changes, but oaths and enchants are just these beacons of pure light. If you showed all the obnoxious visuals to players/devs during testing-first couple months of release, they would literally view it as some sort of exploited modded game because of how far deepwoken has gone from its core.
    There is a difference between exploring things further in this world and evolving it, and just adding cool flashy stuff that appeals to the overstimulated "BRIGHT BIG = COOL AND OP"

    True, i lost the sense of scary and punishing game, but it’s because we already have put a lot of hours and we know most of stuff, but for new players like a couple of my friends (they started not very long time ago and still are scared of wiping) and i wish i could like feel the same like in my beginning of playing the game (almost at the release)

    If they added the southern luminnant I think it could be similar to the feel you wanted them to add. One dark and depressing authority outpost right next to the lighthouse and a couple more minuscule settlements driven to insanity before you go delve deep into the southern luminant. Wouldn’t be too long to add it’s just voidsea 2.0

    i really feel you man, and I would do anything to have old deepwoken again. the thing is that the game has only improved since then. the nostalgia isn't missing how the game used to be, it's how we used to feel while playing it. it was the sense of mystery and adventure that the game brought. thanks for the video.

    I agree with the islands and the animations, like some of the islands look so fun to explore like in the teaser for deepwoken you would sneak into that church, and the old animations actually look like your trying to fight instead of just static m1s. However I don't really care about the oaths or mantras, sure they don't look like old deepwoken but Its not really that big of an issue. I'm sure they could make oaths look cooler but its not a big problem

    i definitely can say that i also wished that the same atmosphere was kept on release of deepwoken. especially watching mikey's fake leaked deepwoken videos making it look so mysterious and vast even though that was far different from what came out. however with all games, it can only be expected that things will change and decisions will have to be made for the game to better it, rather than keep it in a place where the devs no longer have a passion for it. hopefully the devs see videos like these and take a step back from the flashy moves (dawnwalker) and other obnoxious colorings and textures to that same dark, adventure game we saw before.

    I know exactly what you mean, before verse 2 we had visionshaper and blindseer which were both dark and mysterious depths oaths then the hidden dark magic in the depths aswell and above the surface we have these magics that are known to be from below yet still work around the world kinda like avatar. When i saw jetstriker for the first time i thought it was fake because there was no way an oath looking that bad was im the game. I do think dawnwalker kinda makes sense with how new kyrsa is build but the whole breakdancing rainbows definitely doesnt fit dw and the l2 boss is supposed to be gale not wtv new kyrsa is. The darker oaths that theyve added just fit deep way better like contractor and linkstrider although linkstrider’s moves definitely dont fit its obtainment

    Deepwoken went from (kinda) brutal roguelike to bloxfruits/gpo bandit beater, you spawn, beat trial, songseekers, hive,duke, just to get max power and then go and beat other players (literally gpo gameplay), you are not rewarded for fighting people like in rogue lineage, so fights are just useless and the most of it are max powers ganking you when you are just trying to lvl up

    I agree about the disappointment at the release of the game. It just felt... off. It just didn't have the feel that the deepwoken directs had. The animations looked so much better in the directs, with yes, variety with many different swings, and you don't flourish until you HIT three times. In game today, it's precisely fixed animations, being the same no matter what you do, and you kick after three swings no matter if you hit them or not.

    Seeing old deepwoken sneaks or clips made me wanna play it cuz it revolved around lore and medieval atmosphere with simplistic mantras and design but now when i hop on game i wanna leave cuz its just another game with lots of anime references and flashy skills, basically a dress up go to chime simulator and enchant and gem rarities are fucked up now its not rewarding to get like it used to before and lastly the bosses are just anticlimactic when u realize mid way in the fight u gotta do the same patterns for like 30 more minutes.

    deepwoken has become basically a generic anime game, I was so hyped when I saw testing footage about a year before the release of the game, since it was a game with actually grounded combat, that you don't just use absurd tp moves that fling people around and it was a dark game with actual dangerous npcs, but the devs went for the thing that appeal to the bigger audience, that are the guys that just want to build an anime character that has flashy huge magic, that jumps and teleports around.

    i feel like your argument on dawnwalker is fairly important but if anything the only thing i feel they should change is the map design. the whole idea of dawnwalker is your radiance, your ability to light up any area and never encounter a shadow. if anything, they should just increase the contrast. keep the character color or radiance, and desaturate the map. i still wanna look cool while playing.

    I've been waiting for someone to come out about this since Deepwokens release.
    I hated those damn swing animations when I first played the game
    The atmosphere was completely different from what we were promised in the directs.
    I remember people literally making guilds before the game released because everyone wanted to form groups, and explore together.
    To have that same feeling we had when starting Rogue. An entirely new game to explore, and an unforgiving one.
    Now we have a very bright game, the completely opposite of what the Directs brought us. If you had showed me 3 years ago the combat of Deepwoken now,
    I probably wouldn't believe this is Deepwoken. Every color, affect, down to the animation is not you nitpicking. It's you pointing out exactly what people would have pointed out 3 years ago or so.
    I quit the game in layer 1. And Layer 2 at first looked amazing, or atleast promising. I was wrong.

    maan layer 3 has to get deep back on its feet istg, i just hope when it drops it gets very rare enchants and legendary weapons, more secret islands and maybe make it so when you reach a point into the void sea where it becomes unstable and randomized islands spawn like in arcane.
    and also pointing out, arch made enchants and legendary weapons way more common because he didnt want them to be "impactful" to gameplay like are you fucking serious?? i got my first enchanted weapon in a whole year and guess what, he drops laplace 2 weeks after

    ur lowkey rambling but i feel you lol. deepwoken's old vibe & bleak look that we saw in testing is one of the things that made me so interested in the game in the first place, it was very appealing to me & alot of other ppl. still though, even now, with how far the game has shifted away from that style, deepwoken still looks better than pretty much every other game on roblox right now, so there is that..

    I dont think its generic but rather the deepwoken world is modernizing. Lore became way closer to players than its ever been. Dawnwalkers and starkindred and all that. The dev wanted players to feel not only included in the world, but strong as well.
    Which explains the flashy visuals and all that. And the conquest map, its honestly kinda fresh to see a non edgy map from the devs time to time

    I honestly like the style we have for deepwoken today but I get it I genuinely think the reason why they add things that just make it so you don’t have to parry trade are just so weaker players have the ability to compete at a higher lvl which kinda sucks cuz I’ve spent so much Time just mastering the combat and I’m getting fodderized by someone who can’t parry

    Back then deepwoken used to look scary asf, but now deepwoken has gotten alots of remodels, difficulty changes and lightning changes. Which made the game lost it's feeling of the first actual game. I wanted to feel on how playing deepwoken for first time again, those were golds. Truly a golden era for deepwoken, where everyone started fresh, not knowing anything of the game.

    the answer is pretty simple:
    they just modernized the game out of doubt of their original concept being too "underwhelming" or "not interactive" while forgetting about how people loved their games because of its vibe just like in rogue lineage and how you blend in so well with the game's environment along with the psychological warfare between you and some other player and paranoia of something going terribly wrong due to all of the dangerous factors of certain places and people (like ultra necromancers)
    but they removed it (and i think scrapped/deleted all of it?) and tbh, they COULD bring this type of deepwoken back for layer 3 while removing (but keeping some) the current aspects of deepwoken, it would make the game much more loved by the community but it probably wouldn't get as much players as before because it wouldn't be as modernized and brain rotted as the typical 6 yr old would like

    Now, it's better for pvp players. The outlines, indicators, ui displaying cooldowns ect improve gameplay quality in fights.

    It's still just as unforgiving as ever, we've just gotten good enough that we're able to avoid those encounters. When they do eventually catch up to us, though, we are reminded once more what this game truly is.
    The style of the game has changed a ton. But I kind of like it, actually. It's like the game itself is evolving, changing.

      how is it unforgiving at all? you can run away easily from pvp and pve danger with new mantras, if you are in the depths and you don't want to risk wiping you can just jump into the void thus guaranteeing survival, pve is easy even on pvp builds now that the mantra damage against mobs has been buffed, monsters aren't even a bit scary compared to release and verse 1 when people were scared of fighting squibbos and corrupted owls. this is all just off the top of my head. this is no longer an RPG game or a souls like/roguelike game, it's just a repetitive sandbox. in verse 1 there was a risk of wiping no matter how good you were, but now if you are experienced enough nothing will kill you, this promotes boring repetitive gameplay and makes permadeath more of a nuisance than a challenge and a gimmick.

    for me the game got ruined when shrine of order got addeed, just ignore that i sound dumb and analyze for a second, the game was built in a way that you get certain points on a atribute, you can get certain talents, and with shrien of order you can just have these talents while having those points on other atributte tog et even more talents, and no it doesnt adds build variety, every build thats usable goes for meta talents pre shrien like show stopper ghost reinforced armor and then aftershrine the build get the max dmg multipliers possible and get a high dmg combo like judment and eclipse kick for example

    yes!! yes bro finally someone who sees shit clearly and doesnt need a whole lightshow to see properly. though, really early verse 2 style was okay and i even liked it a bit, but mantras now are just a whole puke of particles that makes u not see shit. people are not doing "PARTICLES META BUILD" for nothing, its because the amount of particles there is just abuseable, when in older deepwoken elemental mantras were not closing off your view but still distinguishable when used. shadow with its blind path is so much more useless in making your opponent blind compared to dawnwalker, black flames, white gale, eruption path, blue thunder... old quest and puzzles seemed much harder because steps were not as obvious and wasnt in PLAIN SIGHT, which half of the quests and oath obtainment puzzles now are. saltchemist? girl literally tells you who to find and where to go. fadetrimmer? most obvious shit ever, just spam one button 10 times. i have hopes for saintsworn, but its probably gonna be obvious anyways.(its not even released but i know how to get it)
    curved blade of winds is another example of the game becoming "lego". you look at the first ever model, its ugly ahh, but the second model is so much better, looks big(almost matching its hitbox lol), its relatively dark and doesnt react to light so much with pretty dim white neon lines. first anim rework of its dual wield stance was nice, but the second rework of anims is bs. third model? oh yea, this tiny(doesnt match its hitbox at all) ass dagger looking, puke-colored, reactive to light(becomes snow white when in broad daylight), piece of plastic with $3 amazon white LEDs attached to it, hides itself in its own wind particles... with a white traveler cloak, dawnwalker and specter path becomes undistinguishable. again, im referring to the particle meta
    people were using ironsinger heavyplate, alchemist hat and alloyed tanto because it was dealing 40 damage per m1 with only damage multipliers being ones u get for getting alloyed tanto requirements (i think its 80 light), with, someday, obfuscation enchantment stone smeared like shit on it, with every single starkindred mantra in the hotbar, a flame blind to confirm ascension, to then with allat confirm m1s that were dealing damage of a heavy, eating armor like scrapsinger, swingspeed barely readable, hitbox of a medium weapon PLUS the accessories and the enchant hiding the 55dmg (if not fucking more) toothpick, just to confirm m1s, and get some juicy elo for which they only get a colored name in the playerlist, and a slight ego boost provided..... but it HAS to be a glass cannon build? no lmao it has 560hp, reinforced armor, 40% physical resistance from equipment alone, exoskeleton(10% phys res, stacked with vesperians chitin, 13% phys res),reinforce(5% less dmg), charm talents(another 10% less dmg received) flame wisp(was healing a bar for FREE before rework), flame of denial, to get half a bar back and get up instantly when knocked. keep in mind i might havent listed something here too.
    new released paths being straight up gimmicks(u give up utility for damage), with only specter and twisted puppets having JUST a bit of variety aside from being just stronger than regular version of the attunement...
    last example, the saturation update. when they made deepwoken bright as hell with the saturation update, they pretty much just said "fuck yall edgy teens, we only care about children that get bored of seeing just a bit darker than usual image" and let off its darker aesthetic, becoming SHALLOWWOKEN, because nothing is scary in this game anymore. they dont care about lore too
    there will be so much grammatic mistakes but IM NOT READING ALLAT 🤦‍♂🤣 to check if there are any

    I think the game would be much more interesting if the power scaling wasn't as high either, don't get me wrong the game is fun but it would be really cool if every monster wouldn't die in 3 hits once you reach power 20. It would especially go good with that original art style it had as well.

    Deepwoken is very colorful and stupid now.
    They started to abandon their lore and style since layer 2. They keep making this game more and more casual, they focused on pvp, making it worse and worse with every update ( I think it is because shitty weekly updates. Remove them. I would wait for months just to get a really good quality update).
    They dont listen to community and keep any shit they add to the game without asking if players like it ( they ask aga only).
    They even said they won't add any new islands or luminants to the game, saying "There's no good reason to add them". What the hell dude? Your game is about adventure, wake up already please...
    About lore. For example : Forge of the SIn, the ancient artifact of the god ( purple fire yk), Duke is used to be protecting forge from Lord regent so he doesnt get it and use it for his plans. Now this artifact spawns everywhere in the sea in very frequent way.
    There's a lot of lore things they messed up and it makes me upset that is not the game i expected to be.
