And depending on what is about to kill you, even (at least some) auto grip moves will proc the resonance unless I'm mistaken. It's really only not guaranteed with Sibex's Dialogue, since he'll give you the same dialogue if you're nearing or at 100%. {*Unless there are some auto-grips that bypass this, but that'd be the only time when it wasn't confirmed aside from kill bricks/void deaths}
about the autodidact part at 2:35 its also because of the adret race giving you 3 free stat points per power up meaning you'd get 6 per power up which is prob why you werent able to invest any after beating the alpha sharko

In chaser's fight, he takes damage even if you dont hit him when hes knocked, so even without prov thorns you can just keep destroying jars til hes dead.
You should do a run only under the control of vow of mastery commands (basically no doing anything yourself). to deal damage and heal i imagine the use command and potions or bombs might work.
