    Tulsi is a holy plant in Hinduism and the leaves are used in many religious ceremonies as well as being used in ayurvedic traditional medicine. It's considered very auspicious and spiritually valuable if you are able to grow it - which is often difficult in colder climates.

    With the paper/seed method, I do the same except I spray the paper with water to aid germination. Once they develop 2 leaves I lay the whole sheet on potting soil and the roots go through the paper, into the soil and eventually the paper desolves. Once seedling are big enough to handle, I transplant them. This year I had 42 plants from half a tomato!!!

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  Рік тому

      Oh my word! I'm going to try this! So, to be clear, you do this when you remove the ziplock from the frig in January, or so, and spray it. But do you use lights or heat during this part?

    • @MsFlipper1969
      @MsFlipper1969 Рік тому

      @@Latebloomershow I don't keep them in a fridge but a paper envelope in a box once dried. However, the tomatoes I grew this year were from a shop bought fresh tomato. And used to same technique. I just grew them on a windowsill until it was warm enough at night, transplanted them and hardened them off in a mini unheated greenhouse.

    I love all sorts of basil except when it blooms and turns bitter. I'd much prefer to have the leaves then the blooms. Promoting a life of love, peace, and happiness and supporting freedom, or noncommitment sounds just like our hippy movement back in the sixties and seventies. That sure was a fun time! But, I'm so glad I made the commitments I did in life. My commitment to Christ, my commitment to the Word of God, learning His truth, commitment to my husband of 47 years, my two daughters and four grandsons ... Love, peace and happiness comes in psychedelic colors!

    I could never find holy basil in the nurseries but I found package of seeds today so grabbed it. Can't wait to see if I can grow it from seed.

    My newest homesteading skill build is herbalism. I have planted some medicinal herbs in an apothecary garden I created, and have been harvesting and drying them for use in teas, tinctures, oils, etc. I have thoroughly enjoyed this project, and love curating knowledge along the way. Thank you, Kaye and Daryll (Darrell?) for helping expand my knowledge base!

    Loads of good information on this video, nice job!
    Love Tulsi tea! Steep 1.5 cups of fresh leaves
    1/2 gal jar
    Raw honey
    Some fresh lemon juice
    Pour boiled water over leaves, let set for 1/2 hour
    Strain, let cool to warm
    Add honey and lemon to taste
    Iced is refreshing!

      Linda, I dehydrated some a few months ago. Do you think I could still making a tea with it, I'm sure the ratio would be a lot smaller.
