  • The first commercial shopping center in the Vegas Valley dominated the 1960s and '70s before plummeting after 2000. Decades later, businesses new and old say another renaissance is in motion.

It will take a few years but this is a great headstart it’s getting! Now fix Huntridge so we can open the park again!

You seem sure that the economy is going to rebound, cost of living is going to lower, and things will just be all fine & dandy like nothing ever happened. Sure you have not been eating too many edibles?

i remember doing some hvac and restaurant repair work for a few customers in this place (2007-2009), all of the businesses were connected by a central corridor where under the table hostesses could covertly come and go between businesses that also paid them for the same specialty, one place had a hole in the ceiling through the roof, the chef would holler up to someone on the rooftop orders for freshly prepared squab and their eggs, within a few minutes, a bamboo basket was lowered down into the kitchen, the chef would slosh the squab around in buffalo wing sauce then drop em in the deep fryer, crackling like a mf, the health inspector didn't like the grease hood spray painted red and chrome, and made em strip the paint off, but seem to be ok with the hole in the ceiling since there were bonuses for that kind of stuff, no renaissance for that building, haul it off and build something new, the parking lot there was a regular migration route for the world famous vegas high heeled street hikers, at the time it was called "hooker parade" i thought i'd throw a little history in, regards

I used to go to the cue club back in the 90s, and also Mary k's arcade. Nostalgia coming on strong.

Commercial Center needs some landscaping!! It always needed landscaping. It is all cinderblock and pavement. No shade anywhere.

I thought there is a law that says commercial properties has to have a certain amount of landscaping (trees, bushes, etc)?

@@SteveSabbai - today they have that law but in the early 70s, nope.

Can’t wait to see this place continue going. ASAP Gallery and Core Contemporary Gallery are amazing, and Arty’s is really shaping up & it’s not even open yet!

Anyone else remember Mary K's Arcade that used to be there? We used to go there all the time back in the day.

The cute club was the place to be in the late 90s. We used to hang out there all the time when I was in my very early 20s.
