I grew up in texas and we had something similar to this in fort worth. The omni theater. I believe it was one of the only theaters like it in the US. A wrap around 180 theater. Sadly they shut down in 2020 but planning to re open soon. It wasn't near as big as this one but it was amazing to watch 3d movies in it as a kid without having to wear glasses.
Not similar at all, and plenty of theatres around the world use that structure. Science World in Vancouver is yet another. This thing is a beast of it's own.
Nice Science World in Vancouver,BC Canada has one of those its a huge oval 180 degree screen. I havent been in years but as a kid i would go i think it's called OmniMax.
This appears to be the next step or progression of the IMAX experience. I remember when IMAX first came out there were only a few across the USA. I’m not 100 percent sure but I think the film company Big Sky has been around for awhile. I’ve seen lots of videos of London at night so I don’t see any problems there at all.
Its not a movie theater its a concert/event area with the giant screen inside and outside. They might play movies inside I guess but thats not what it has been described as of yet from what I've seen following it the last couple of years or som

This is a really great entertainment venue, but I think in a time where people are already unable to distinguish reality from fiction, this will do very little to change that. I've always loved the idea of a massive theatre type experience, yet it's the wrong era. I hope this stays in Las Vegas for atleast a few decades before they decide to move it to other countries. Society seems to only be progressing in luxury and entertainment standards, not so much in other areas of the human ability. And this trend is making us weaker as well, falling in love with material wealth to the point where you don't enjoy it, you crave it just for what it is. We need to see the effects of such a venue for a long time before deciding most cities need them.
I don’t think it’s that deep. It’s just a giant screen that can make gorgeous and encapsulating visuals. It’s meant to be a spectacle, and there has been no shortage of spectacles built by wealthy rulers over the last two thousand years. This is just another addition.
This is simply incredible! In recent years I have been doing a lot of research cinematic experiences and how they can be made better and better. 4K or even 8K. HDR/Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. All those things just give movies a new life. I have a 4K HDR TV myself, and 8K is something I'm dreaming of. But a gigantic 18K resolution screen that wraps around the seats, with an incredible sound system and 4D features just sounds unreal. I live all the way in Europe, but I went to the Southwest US last year. Vegas too. Of every city I've seen, I thought that was by far the coolest. Unfortunately, this thing was not there yet. I would have given anything to get in, even though I think the entrance fee is a lot less exciting.

I have to wonder what the power cost is for this thing. As a frequent Vegas regular for many years I have watch this thing go up the past couple of years and its financial vitality has been in question for a while. When you consider the limited seating and the overhead costs, I can not for the life of me figure out how they will make a profit. There are many smart people asking this question. People will only pay $600 for a ticket for huge events, and they need to fill it nightly to make it pay for it's self. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.

I live in Las Vegas and I love this amazing feat of architecture and all the construction it took to bring it to fruition... as a construction worker myself, anyone that was lucky enough to have a hand in its development my hat is off to you all. It's incredible.
Maybe you mean: As a construction worker you love money so much that you don't see the environmental crime your bosses are committing
Like I said you know nothing about the man, and women hours put into this achievement. The ones who worked there everyday do. Stop your hate.

Simply...WOW! Nothing more that I can add other than to say this is the most impressive thing I've seen in a very long time! Having worked as an architectural draftsman, I can say that every project I ever worked on pales "big time" when compared to this!
Yes, also it should be more acoustical for concerts.
U2 concert was not the best, but the band is no longer in their prime.
@@chefgiovanni Maybe they'll improve as they play there more often--every venue is also a learning curve which may be part of it as well. Very cool place from what I can see online--you were fortuante to have been able to go there. 🎸
What? You weren't given the opportunity to work on a terrible eyesore that is unique for a few months, and then just simply becomes annoying, and then hated then despised? Imagine living near this stupid think. Novelty wears off quick.
@@fuzzywzhe I see that point of view and yes, I don't have to live beside it--I do think that is undesireable. But regardless, it's a pretty cool structure. We know it's all about the big bucks and in locations like Vegas, everybody wants to outdo the other guy with the glitz to draw them in. In the long run it make turn out to be a flop--time will tell.
@@MrWilkat1 I never had any appreciation for Los Vegas. If you want to get a meta experience of that hole, go to some pawn shops and see what people will give up for another day of gambling. It's just a criminal town run by the mafia. It's disgusting.
How could this not be a success, I think this is going to be a world wide thing.

It's the definition of superficial, it's tons of bright light and wasted electricity. Las Vegas can do what it wants, but I surely hope this thing won't spread to too many other cities.
I read news nearly everyday and somehow... any mention of this never came to me until I actually took my Uber from the LV airport to the strip 2 days ago, and saw a gorgeous moon pattern on it passing by. What a marvel. Would love to see an event there
Beam forming sound has been around for decades, but to my knowledge, has never been used in a venue like this. Bravo!
I just love this, I remember being stoned in the sixties and daydreaming about a spherical concert hall. So glad the technology finally caught up with the daydreams of the past.

Since I went to the planetary education room in Genk, a city in Belgium, there was some kinda half spherical cinemaroom where they projected space stuff on the ceiling with a laser projector.
We need to see the effects of such a venue for a long time before deciding most cities need them.
spot on
One is suppose to be built in London
👏👏👏👏
I don’t think it’s that deep. It’s just a giant screen that can make gorgeous and encapsulating visuals. It’s meant to be a spectacle, and there has been no shortage of spectacles built by wealthy rulers over the last two thousand years. This is just another addition.
DUBAI is building a MALL with this dome technology - where your world changes as you shop

Well, all the money people are saving for being forced to keep their AC units off during summer days will let them buy a ticket to a single show!
