The problem is people who bought it early and still say "It will get better". I am one those who ia waiting without buying so EA has to fix the game, add content and discount the game - EA would not like to do that so I win.
"Blah blah blah New Man's Sky." Like, rather than these games redeem themselves, I'd rather games straight up do what they say on the box from day 1. Fuck off with "roadmaps"
What hurt the most was that they dropped support for Battlefront 2 and Battlefield V in order to put all hands on the next game and they also even dropped the campaign to focus on the multiplayer. It makes you wonder what they’ve been doing all this time
Especially how battlefront managed to turn it around near the end of its life cycle. Right as that game was really hitting its stride and during a time where there’s more Star Wars content than ever
Everyone said BF2 was a bad game when it came out and now it's a tragedy that they dropped support on it? According to logic like this in a few years time people will be saying BF2042 was an unreal game
“Don’t worry the game will be good in 6 months” then delay it by 6 months! Consumers aren’t testers. Testers are paid to play and give feedback about an unfinished product, players are paying money in order to have a complete product!
True, but so long as people keep buying this garbage these companies don’t feel obligated to release a finished product. Why would they, if you think about it? They are still getting their money from these fools regardless
Im wondering if they actually hired any testers because it doesn't look like they did. what these testers people gotta say about this release because this game is completely unacceptable, super fail on behalf of EA and I hope they wont get theirs numbers they deserve that.
I think it's safe to say Battlefield 1 was a true highlight in the series, at least within recent years. The game had a beautiful launch, with only a few minor bugs. I don't ever remember having any server problems on the game. The game had so many modes and maps that are a blast to play on. The guns were authentic and setting was amazing. The game was well polished overall, from gunplay, to movement, to vehicles, to flying, you name it. The game still looks beautiful too, in terms of presentation and graphics.
@@Bradderz407 I know. Me and my frie do were hyped for 2042 and the new possibilities awating us. But we never expected a bland gameplay with missing features.
Jake hits the nail on the end with his final points. Fans are now conditioned to accept trash from video game companies and so they push out hot garbage and polish it as they go along and make more money. People need to stop giving them money and shrugging saying "it'll get better eventually". You're encouraging more of this behavior. They'll only listen to fans once you hit them where it hurts, in the wallet.
Sony AAA Playstation exclusives especially on PS4 & PS5 is probably the place where you'd rarely get let down. If only they can release a multiplayer based game again!
@@Equatis So that we buy the next battlefield. if they were gonna release another World War based game I wouldn't have gotten excited and would have shrugged it off like I did with BF V. However, because 2042 took a more modern approach like it was is BF3 and 4, I thought DICE and EA were gonna take those games as a rough sketch and work with that. Its all about reliability which for EA has REALLY gone down the drain
Imagine if we accepted other products like we did video games. "Sir, here is your cheeseburger. It's just missing the lettuce, tomato and bun but eventually we will get it to you. Of course I'll need you to pay for the whole burger..."
"Here are the keys to your new car! Oh, the hood and some doors are missing, the engine has some mechanical issues and the headlights are missing! But don't worry, we'll fix these issues eventually at no additional cost!"
Simply. This is not a new developer. This is not a new franchise or a new company. It an AAA title game which sells at £70 / $75 retail (whatever the high price tag) and deserves to be slated for making a game that is probably more worth £35 / $37.50 at release. Other games will have benefitted from BF2042 lack of quality and customers looked elsewhere. EA and DICE need to fix this pronto to avoid a bad rep. Internet talks.....
Let me phrase this in a way that’s relevant: I don’t go to the Apple store for the new iPhone at over $1000 only to find basic apps missing, touchscreen issues and other bugs and I’m told to wait two weeks, or months for an update so can finally use it correctly. When you release something, let it be working and worth the money you charge it.
The most praise for battlefield 2042 that I have heard is for the portal mode and it’s really telling that the best mode in the game is the one where you’re not playing battlefield 2042.
As someone whos been playin battlefied since bad co, the operator system is probably my biggest complaint with the game. That one change really made a massive difference in what i consider to be a key element to the battlefied experience for me. Which is being able to play as a nameless soldier, not a damn operator/champion.
It also doesnt feel like battlefield, it feels like apex a little. The functions of everything is different and no squad changing!? What the heck is that!? Ive been a huge fan of battlefield fan and this feels like a whole new team made this.
that's why nintendo games are always the best imo, they test the absolute sh*t out of their games and consoles before releasing them to make sure there are no problems. sure they have a hefty price tag but at least it's a finished product
@BaxiTube Geez man all they said was "modern gaming makes me sad", where did they attack anyone in their comment? No one's telling you that you're not allowed to enjoy the game. Chill out
Everyone who continues to support this practice of releasing unfinished games - everyone who preordered it without hesitation - y'all got what you deserved. If you haven't caught on to their bullshit at this point, I don't feel bad that you're stuck with a dumpster fire. At all.
Exactly. Even more confusing to me is how gamers are STILL surprised we are getting games like this even after continuing to preorder and buy AAA games on launch day. We are literally to blame for this. If people started buying cars that came with no engine and it was promised to be added a year later, no one would tolerate that. But gamers are fucking morons and always "need" the next game, so this is what we get, and it will get worse, because as a I said, gamers are fucking morons.
Completely agree. WE in all reality hold the power. Instead of buying things without doing research we need to wait, hear what the "professional" critics have to say and make an educated purchase. Don't settle.
Don’t forget there was many promises of a great game. A lot of people that pre-ordered the game also tried to get a refund but many console players were unable to obtain one. Plus there is an attempt to make a competitive community for the game but it’s looking less and less like anyone that preordered will ever get their money back because as usual, EA will always say “screw you give me money!”
I think a lot of times it’s release schedules that mess this up. Think about how cyberpunk got rushed to publish and that debacle. I think that this was a game to keep up with COD.
This feels like more and more games are released unfinished. It's so frustrating. There needs to be a solid return policy so that these companies need to feel the loss if gamers are dissatisfied.
@@MrEvtmazda BF3 was its own thing, while this feels like they were chasing trends (operators etc), wanted to make the numbers and the maps bigger not realising that the 2 kinda cancel each other out (fights don't feel bigger than what we had since BF3), and then they threw a bone to old-school fans with portal (which actually makes me sad because that means no real BF3 remaster like it was rumored a year ago). They wanted to do all the things and succeeded at none, plus they couldn't polish and balance all the shit they put in the game.
Right> I remember BF 3 was so great, and far along at first... Bf 4 I didn't play at release... Then BF1, it felt unfinished. Bf5 very unfinished... and now this. 2 lmgs, no TDM even. Like damn.. Was hoping the trend would reverse.
Games are just getting old. Call of Duty keeps releasing World War II over and over again, and people recently lost faith in DICE after Battlefield V. Y’all already know the situation with GTA Trilogy. And Halo infinite is just the same as any other Halo game. It’s the repetitive nature of these games that gives them hate.
It suprises me how many people don't know about battlefield 1942 and battlefield Vietnam, given the time they actually released they were extremely well done
The live service aspect is what has changed my perspective on multiplayer gaming. Ever since Black Ops 4, my interest in any of these big multiplayer titles has gone downhill big time. I had no problem in the past paying for most expansions and DLCs, because they obviously put in a lot more effort when there's a price tag. Live service and free to play are not good things for this industry.
I don’t mind live service games when they’re free (see Fortnite and Apex, both of which are honestly still really fun and solid), but I absolutely despise the idea of paid games being live service, as it essentially allows the developer to release an unpolished product.
@@ninjalemurdude I also HATE battle pass bullshit. Because it's literally "mandatory addiction or miss out". You buy into it and then you gotta play keep up before the pass expires. If you buy in and don't play, you've wasted your money. I just want to unlock things ON MY OWN TIME, AT MY OWN PACE.
This game is going to get the same treatment as Battlefield 5. They're going to get oh so far into the game development and then bail when they see or get tired, when it feels like enough is done.
Yeah exactly. I actually really like BF5 also.. once they get the money out of Battlefield 2042 they will jump to the next project to rush and grab money on. Well said.
Battlefield 5 is way better now. Most battlefield starts off trash and get better. Same happened with bf3,bf4, bf1, etc and yet people use bf3 and bf4 as the thing that people want because they are the best bf games
@@NarutoUzumaki-hj2hb bf4 was the beginning of the end. They keep disrupting the life cycle of their own games. Bf3 could have had another year before 4 and battlefield 1 had so much potential but they shit all over that. I no longer trust in their judgment or ability.

I wanted the vaulting, squad revives, and other subtle things brought into a modern setting with modern weapons and better graphics. Instead we got the same characters fighting against each other.
The maps in my opinion are the biggest issue with this game they designed them with zero infantry in mind. Also thank you gamerranx for pointing out the issues outside of the bugs and glitches. The core gameplay is without a doubt suffering from design choices.
Agreed. As an infantry player I've always enjoyed the maps of battlefield. They are good and they also come in different sizes. 2042 has little variation and the maps are pretty bad to play infantry on.
"it felt unfinished" bruh it feels like an Indie game made by 2 people, like the game is terribly un-optimised and there is just honestly nothing unique, its well a basic battlefield nothing fantastic about it.
The specialists were definitely a miscalculation on DICE's part. It seems like they could have just given every player the ability to create their own soldier with a different attire for each map and then given us 16 loadout slots and just given us the specialist gadgets/passives as loadout equipment. That would have been better.
Yeah Halo did something similar to this. There's different suits and they each have a range of customisation (now if only you didn't have to buy everything)
- Cutting classes. A staple of Battlefield & something that wasn't broken. - Fraction amount of weapons & vehicles as BF3/BF4 at launch. - Poor & fairly empty map designs. - Huge swaths of bugs & issues. - Cut huge amounts of animations from previous titles. - No proper scoreboard. - Aircraft dumbed down. - No proper scoreboard. - 'Live-service', 'Battle Pass'. Overwhelming negative feedback in beta but still released. It deserves the hate.
And it's still a fun gaming experience, and that's the entire point of playing video games. To have fun, not nitpick at every flaw in the game as if this is the only battlefield with flaws
@@shadowshood946 How can a game have all those issues and you still have fun with it? Why not just play a game that actually works? It's finally occurred to me that the modern naming convention is to state when the game will actually be finished. Cyberpunk - 2077, Battlefield - 2042. Pure genius! I came looking for a experience like battlefield 4 after 8 years the modern setting was back in my one of my favourite gaming franchise battlefield 4 ,1 were great 👍 games and reminders us that what we want from a battlefield game ,5 was not upto the point or quality of 1 but still I enjoyed it more than any battlefield game and the short stories were really great that's what I was looking for in 2042 but this game felt so off from the entire franchise that I don't think so that this should be called battlefield anymore even though there are alot of bugs and glitches but still at the end of the day if the game is enjoyable then it is good but 2042 is not even that!! 😂
The problem, IMO, is so many companies feel like they need "innovate" these days, and you really don't. They could have just made a "Battlefield 6" and made it a direct successor to Battlefield 4, i.e. modern military, not future. Include a campaign that kind of picks up right after BF4's campaign. Don't do this "operator" shit that COD already tried to do and it sucked. Battlefield 3 and 4 we're triumphs IMO. All they had to do was just follow that formula. But noooo. They basically wanted to "reinvent Battlefield" and failed.
Thank you why cant they just realize that is what people want. It's so unrealistic WW3 is better IMO when it comes to realism they have some stuff to work on but they did the right thing with cbt so they can have feedback from players.
Exactly, imo this is an updated Rainbow Six Siege with bigger maps and hints of BF. This should of been an updated BF4, which is loved and still played even before BF2042 release.
Exactly. And if they wanted to try all these new "innovations" they could've just made a new game tittle alone. Or just Medal of honor with operators When im playing battlefield i want it to be and feel like a battlefield game, not like a mix of Warzone, Siege or some overwatch. Bf 3 and 4 are still masterpieces tho.
For me is the destruction. Had so much fun with it before... you know, back when you could level down a skyscraper or at least a house. Now it just isn't there and I feel like they took the soul of battlefield away. Also, the maps could have had more objectives so there's more use for infantry and more buildings to level down... and less running on empty fields where you are vulnerable to snipers and vehicles.
Battlefield 4, which was released 8 years ago, had 83 weapons at launch. Battlefield 2042 has 23 weapons at launch. BF4 had a campaign. 2042 does not have a campaign. BF4 launched with 10 maps. 2042 has 7 maps. Explain to me how a game released 8 years ago launched with so much more content than this game. BF4 also only had 2 years of development time, whereas 2042 had 3 years. This game is an embarrassment to the battlefield franchise and a slap in the face to all its fans. The maps are WAY too big and feel completely baron, lifeless, empty, and soulless. When playing conquest you'll run around aimlessly forever looking for something, anything to shoot at. When you finally do find an enemy to shoot at, they're always a mile away which makes every weapon other than sniper rifles completely useless.. I would love to know what the developers were doing the last 3 years. Not to mention I have a 1080Ti and a I9 and the game can only run at 50 FPS on any settings/ resolution and the only solution is to buy a 3090 to get an extra 20 Frames. Its horse shit. This is by far the last nail in the coffin for getting hyped for any game, it the same old shit of devs pushing out half arsed finished games to please the " Big guy " . I hate to say it and its the only time Ive ever said this about a BF game, ( and ive been playing since BF1942 ) but 2042 is hot garbage and by the time they fixed and optimized the game 6 months later I would be completetly have had lost all interest in it and nothing but a bad taste in my mouth due to this clusterfuck of a shitshow games released. I hate to hate but this is the only franchise im strongly passionate about and Im appaulded and deeply dissapointed. smh. what a fucking let down.
Battlefield 4 also was basically unplayable for 6 months due to major crashing and net code issues. But I agree at it’s heart it was still a better game
Maps are excellent as they are, large and allowing you to flank the enemy much more easily and similarly to the earliest BF games. I love the fact that I can actually route the enemy by flanking them and all the morons are bunched up looking the same way because their used to not being able to run but so far.

I’ve been playing every BF and enjoyed each one immensely since BF1942. For me, the first red flag since way before release of 2042 was the concept of the specialists. Insanely stupid idea. Then it became a domino effect of bad concept after bad concept that led to me deciding to never buy they game - sad to see such a franchise I’ve grown to love become such pile of trash. Really shows the disconnect between what franchise fans really want vs. what “trends” or “popular concepts” developers think we want. We play different games for the different experiences each genre or developer has to offer. We lose interest when every single developer goes “oH, We CaN Do wHaT OtHeRs ArE dOing tOo, SeE?” Battlefield has always been a unique experience and formula. Why change what has made your game incredible from the beginning? One really cannot rationally grasp what confused persons leading the ship of DICE/EA really are actually thinking.
@@chriscangelosi9438 exactly right. The fans have always loved Battlefield because it’s different. And it was gaining more and more popularity with each release because it stayed true to its formula. Now, they lose all of the die hard fans. It’s sad to see.

I liked Battlefield because it felt like I was in a war. The atmosphere and climate it made, especially in bf1 made me feel atleast a pinch of what war was or could be like. I like video games because they bring me into a new world, and bf1 let me experience what a world in war is like with friends and other people in a fun progressive manner.
The part that irks me the most is that when they dropped support for Battlefield V and SW Battlefront 2, they said it was to go all in on BF2042. Don't understand how we got from that to where we are now. There is a big piece of the story we are still missing I think. Popular theory is that BF2042 started as a BR, and for one reason or another they pivoted back to something more traditional to the BF IP. Not sure I buy it yet, but it does have merit when you break down the argument. Nice vid, ty.
Also they closed the servers in Africa, forcing those players on EU servers and by this dragging down the whole experiance for all players. At this point I could see the writing on the wall and I was pissed
Wouldn't be surprised. I'm sure this started development soon after BF5, and when they saw how poorly that game's BR mode was received they changed gears. BR was a mistake.
same counts for GTA, PKMN D/P, AOE4 etc...and yk what? I still enjoy all this games more than a 0.8 metascore rating or whatever. I do enjoy it but I am not able to do that sometimes because of youtube.
This year is the first time I didn't buy COD or Battlefield in 15+ years. I really hope these companies listen to the fans and take all the time they need to make a great game.
Good for you cod is just the same recycled garbage it had been for years and battlefield came out a mess we shouldn't reward company's with our hard earned money for there unpolished turds I also havnt bought either of them
Once again (how many times I can no longer count) I can say “this game has so much potential but is more broken than any other game I’ve played”. Seriously, this game is amazing in parts and then completely ruined every 60 secs when you’re pulled out of the immersion by yet another ridiculous “can’t believe this is even a thing” glitch.
The game should have been delayed for two years tops. If they wanted to really wanted a success they should have put focus into QA, getting class systems for the classic title features for Battlefield Portal and more weapons. Then it would have been a more complete experience and would have actually sold on the new stuff and also on the nostalgia. Now it is a mess that doesn't cater the players who want the new stuff and the old school stuff. I was severely dissapointed in how Battlefield Portal turned out because that was the only thing I was looking forward to in BF2042. So much wasted potential and they could have remastered the campaign with the old motion capture and dialogue with Bad Company. Kinda like how many remasters have done in the past (eg. Yakuza Kiwami, Uncharted, etc)
And the whole reason all the games are bad now is because we have been gaming all during the pandemic, and video games get boring after you play them alot, and the players start to rush the devs, then they release and everyone is mad because it’s “Broken and it’s all there fault!” Even though it’s ours because we chose to rush them.
Apperently, the problem was the leadership at DICE. Someone who claimed to be an employee left a review of the company on GlassDoor where they stated that the leadership would only listen to positive feedback and ignoring or maybe even chastising actual criticism. And they allegedly also decided on which features and modes to include by who made the proposal. In a way, this reminds me of the leadership failures at Bioware that lead to Anthem crashing and burning.
Straight up.... look at the comms from the Devs.... This is an alpha that we are paying to test. Not only the technical issues, but also premise and execution. Dice is not playtesting and doing any market research on their own before release. They are doing it now. Using us... and we are paying them.
Maybe peeps aren't old enough to remember.... I've been a gamer for over 50 years Back in the day, devs hired people to work out a great deal of issues. To iron out concepts and tech used. They hired playtesters to do just that. To fix and tweak vehicles, balance issues. Address bugs and glitches. Dev's over time stopped hiring playtesters and then asked for people to volunteer as alpha and beta testers... These testers are unpaid and under strict NDA's. Now they don't do this at all... So to your question. I get his idea from facts, experience and reality. If you read what Dice wrote recently about update #2. And what is coming in update #3. This is how things were done during development before release. Testers would get this type of info so they knew what to focus on during testing. I used to work on mod and dev teams. You work to achieve dev goals before release. These goals are comprised of much of what we read in Dice's post. The latest comms from Dice show that they are using us now as unpaid testers. Cyberpunk was the same.... Most games today, especially AAA titles are done this way now.
@@sethyork1164 remember BFV? They did the exact same thing to it. Never pre-order and never buy it within the first month. Let them use their own cash to fix half-assed problems they skimp on.
I'm sure DICE will fix all the technical issues and introduce more guns within the next few months, but they will need much more to bring back the soul of Battlefield to this game
They need a trilogy package of Bf3, BF4, and BF1 updated graphics package with optimized accessibility, Especially BF1. BF1 needs the least amount of work graphically but it’s interface needs to be accessible have modes like hardcore, frontlines playable all the time in quickmatch. I’m picturing a Halo Chief Master Collection, if they did that it would be gold. Not gonna happen but that’s what I’d want.
One of the gaming industry’s biggest issue is “re-inventing the wheel” Instead of building on what worked in the past, they instead water down what worked to a point of in-operability and include one or two new features to generate false hype. Not to mention the toxic ass trend of micro-transactions and season passes. Also the overall lack of creativity and risk taking.
Lack of creativity, yeah? Dice tried to make something different for BF 2042 so they added specialist. Now they're getting the hate. How are you suppose a dev to be creative if everybody hates change? And what do you say lack of risk taking? Now see what happened to BF 2042 after Dice tried to take the risk. The BF community is just noisy. BF 2042 ISN'T bad, it's just don't suit your preference.
@@mhazg6621 regardless of your opinion bf2042 is a bad unfinished game that shoul have come out 6 month later ! but i hope you can still have fun on it PS :the amount of gun aviable is disapointing and nobody wanted a "hero/operator" system in bf
@@mhazg6621 Dice has always had a bad habit of “useless innovation”. Sometimes they add things that the community never even asked for I.e the specialists. Another example was with BFV’s attrition system and BF1’s sweet-spot mechanic. If the community DID ask for specialists and we started complaining about their addition, then that would be a whole different story. But we never asked for this shit, and it’s sad that newer Battlefield players are defending Dice and EA blindly because they don’t know what made the previous titles so special in the first place.
"Battlefield 2042 and Portal will be a love letter to all of our fans" How a company took everything I loved with BF and promised to amplify everything to max but gave us a sad joke of a wannabe completely void of the core, soul and mechanic that was the love for Battlefield. I'm seriously so sick and tired of all these mega corporations who have systematically taken over the entire love for games from gamers and game developers and turned it into another monopoly. The lie, they steal, they make stupid anti-consumer refund policies (on verge of unlawfull even), the hype, the promise, they ignore, they've secured in-game shop and mounths of planned released cosmetics in advance. The same people also went to Epstein's Island, pushed their staff around, abused the women (mostly but not only), payed for silence, controll the news outlets in gaming-media and the list goes on and on. These things are things that got out to the public. Imagine what we DON'T know.. It's clear to see these demons should be put in place and easiest way to do that is by your money. Don't pre-order anything EVER. Not like we're going into better times any time soon but at least you'll know you didn't sponsor these people. Game over
Those same people also drive away women who want to develop game into another nurse because even if it a few asshole who do it which explains why most developers are male even in tech in general most worker are male bill gate hang out with Epstein maybe the problem with every kind of abuse is bigger than anyone think in any industry we already got so many people who are over work and underpaid and that big problem on it own already
BF 2042 was such a disappointment. I pre ordered the game, and once it finally launched I couldn't even play it. Every time I'd try and join a game, I'd get stuck in the loading screen. Also I couldn't adjust the screen borders, so all menus are clipping outside of my TV. I decided to just let it sit for awhile in hopes it would get fixed. I picked it back up a couple of days ago and it's almost just as bad. Finally I can join a game, but the game play is not very fun. The maps are a bit too big to make playing infantry fun. The guns don't have any form of controllable recoil like in BF4, so your always bound to just waste ammo. Not enough guns to choose from, Operators suck, certain weapons seem to do barely any damage, some vehicles are way too strong (like the MI-240 Hinds), NOBODY REVIVES ANYMORE!!! The game feels like it's a COD game trying to be a BF game. If this is the future BF is heading down, I want no part in it. I'd rather just play BF4 or BF1. Those were the last good ones IMO. BF5 was alright, just the amount of weapons you could choose from was really small.
I've been playing Battlefield since 2008 and Call of Duty since 2003, and too me BF has always stood for a more mature and realistic experience. The tactics, visuals, sound design and overall tone in the storyline have all contibuted to that. I haven't played 2042 but this time around i'm giving it a pass. Seems like BF lost it's way. Hopefully change may come from this and the next installment hopefully is back to the roots.
As far back as BF3 it has never been a realistic experience, it has been about chaos, teamwork and “battlefield moments”. These elements are what they have leaned into with bf2042. Modern Battlefield in the last two decades has never been a Milsim experience so no idea why people expected it to be now.
It's really simple actually. This is mostly our own fault. Especially the people who pre-order games are to blame. How dumb are you in this time of unfinished games, games as a service and micro-transactions to still pre-order your game, when you know 9 out of 10 devs have pulled this crap and let us gamers down again and again.
You are right, but is called exploiting. Is terrible, but who’s at fault? Who TRUSTS? Or who Backstabs? If you like FPS on consoles, there isn’t much choice COD, R6 then BF. What should I do? Should I Stop gaming because of greed and incompetence? It’s my hobby since I was a child. Can’t change it now, people should stop BUYING skins. The problem isn’t the pre-orders but the OVERPRICED -micro- transactions. When I boot up the game 25% of players ALREADY have bundles and skins. You want to know why there is no GTA 6, yet? -micro- FUCKING transactions People should stop spending money on NOTHING Not the pre orders. Stop buying useless junk that DOES NOT make your experience better. People see the state of the game, and think yea lets buy 30$ shitty skin, so I can show to every stranger on this game HOW MUCH IM DUMB
I no longer buy any games at launch. I always wait for a sale. Sure, the servers might be emptier by then, but I’m just not willing to gamble on any games nowadays. Plus if it’s a good game, then lack of servers shouldn’t be an issue.
I have always been a big BF fan. This is the first one that I played once and didn't feel it at all. Because of this, I actually advised others to not buy it. It doesn't feel like Battlefield. It feels more like Apex meets COD. This, to me, is what happens when pencil pushers look at graphs and charts to decide what needs to be put in a game. Return to the time of BF3 and BF4 (at the end of their cycle) and just make it look better. That's all you have to do. STOP trying fix what isn't broken. Of course some of the blame has to be placed on the player community for this. With players demanding new mechanics all the time and saying that "the same ol" is a bad thing is what helps drive developers into attempting to implement new mechanics in games that don't need them. And yes, we all know EA pushed this out too soon and also chopped it up to be sold later.
exactly, I hate the idea that say a new call of duty for example has too be so quote on quote "different". Like if they just keep what works and is good and improve upon it they can take my money, I wanna play a good call of duty not some different game, same with battlefield, now every shooter is a cod hybrid, even cod lol.
I feel like this is an over-exaggeration. By no means is 2042 the best battlefield I will give you that. But as someone who has jumped in and out of battlefield since Bad Company 2, this feels like a battlefield game. I do dislike the newer pinging systems and the specialists are a little silly but for the most part it plays and feels like any other Battlefield game I've played. Hell if you play the Rush mode from BC2 it feels more or less just like how it did just a bit more polished... so I think you're just bitter, which is fine I do agree that BF4 style with modern graphics would've been a better route, but this isn't 'that' bad. The only Battlefield I wasn't interested in in the last 10 years was V.
You ask "why wait?" Because the game is unfinished. If you don't pre-order a game then the devs have more incentive to make a complete game. This isn't a go fund me project, it is a game as a whole. If we sit and watch reviews then not buying the game because it is broken then they learn a lesson..
If we've learned anything from these last couple of years, it's that buying a game at launch is foolish. This industry can't even get remasters right. Wait a year for it to get patched up and buy it on sale.
Id say this goes for most multiplayer games and any solo game that gives the idea of "massive and interactive world" cause using that means they are filing thousands of line of code into one line to make it fit. You kinda need to look at track records and use your brain to determine which are actually going to fulfill request and which is going to be dog shit. I fell for the whole Cyberpunk thing and decided to now analyze more closely what games are promising.
Jake, I agree with everything it’s totally unfinished and it breaks my heart. 💔 I’m a battlefield veteran and it disappoints me to come to this conclusion. Hopefully they hear the fans and fix the bugs, we might still be able to get the 2042 we were promised.
I agree with you, in before the "cant fix fundamental problems" crowed piles on... I am having fun despite all the issues and that's all I can really say, I am having fun.
I think DICE Stockholm is done, there's been a lot of spinoff battlefield games from other developers over the last decade and I think the time has come to move on. DICE LA/Ripple Effect seem to still have it though, but EA has a habit of killing everything enjoyable due to greed.
@Daniel Jamison It's time to move on man. Stop giving EA and Dice your time and money. They no longer care about their customers anymore. All they care about is money. Battlefield is no longer what it used to be and it's a damn shame.
@@YungKashewz I've had waves of fun but mostly frustrated. I still get loadout bugs every other game. They just needed to make a modern battlefield and add the plus system. I also don't like how everyone on both sides look the same.
Battlefield 2042 was the best decision I ever made. It made me lose the desire to play games, I deleted all my games on the PC and made me deal with the essentials in life. I am now more involved with investment and it looks very good. Thus, a big thank you DICE/EA, my 60 euros you have but this for the last time! Great game!
As a BF fan, I can admit that I still have fun playing 2042..... But I can also admit that this game is a shell of what it should be. This feels like a high-end demo.
Agreed, it feels hollow sometimes, but I still have fun. A week after launch I experience fewer bugs and server issues, but yeah I wish there was more content
Battlefield was a massive disappointment. And that is coming from the guy who thought that cyberpunk wasn’t that bad on a last gen console. The game is unbalanced, glitchy, poor lighting, and the hit registration is terrible.
What is funny is that I put 200 hours into cyberpunk back at the day 1 version of the game, I was so hooked to the story that I endured through it on a base ps4, I need to try and replay it now that they've fixed a lot of stuff and the game is playable. But what is indeed curious is how I couldn't stand playing more than one match of BF2042 during the beta because the map was so boring, the specialist system was so bland, and the optimization + gameplay in general felt so underwhelming, meanwhile, I have almost 1000 hours of bf4 on my ps4, and recently bought bf4 on pc, and have already played almost 150 hours of it.
Specialists should be faction specific skins with the option to choose faction specific "generic" skins - specialist equipment should be made into a free choice box and abilities should be like a perk. It's so difficult to work out who is friendly or foe when they look the exact same as you.
There's a theory going around that this game was originally a battle royale game. That's why the maps are so big and why we even have specialists. But something didn't work out so they had to re-use and re-tool what they already had. They should have just left the specialists in whatever mode they have for BR.
Nothing will ever change because as long as pre order sales exceed production, they won't care. Everyone likes to buy it right away and then complain to everyone else. STOP buying games right away because it just lines their pockets and shows them they can release whatever shit they want and fools will buy it.
At this point I'd take a BF4 Remake, that was the last great BF game imo. The progression system, amount of weapons, customization. And on top of that the absolutely insane plays you could make were addicting. It hasn't been the same for me since.
Caspian border conquest in portal mode is great.. it's was my most played map back in the day and BF3 was my favourite by far.. I might be a minority but I'm enjoying battlefield 2042 on my gaming laptop
Gutted is the word. Haven’t played a battlefield game in years and this got me so excited and I loved it initially but that’s because I was wanting to love it and ignore the huge flaws, now I’m just sad :(

Jake you have a tendency for pretty much EVERY game you review that's overwhelmingly bad to suggest people "wait a few months" instead of stay the fuck away from the product. Idk what kind of soul searching you've done but im proud you're finally suggesting people don't buy or play a bad game. Battlefield in particular has had many apologist over the years(myself included) but this is unacceptable that this dared to be released in such a state, as someone who's loved Battlefield sense "modern Combat" on the PS2 and seen several changes to how the game is played and quality assurance this is it for me.
I think Jake just really hates negativity, and doesn't want to be one of those UA-camrs (a lot of gaming content creators are straight up whiny). It's cool to see this redemption arc though. where he's clearly just had enough. Which makes sense, because gaming is in a seriously bad place right now.
We need to form a coalition of passionate gamers and convince others to place an embargo on buying these damn games. We achieve that and the be AAA Game developers and publishers will get the message quickly.
I'm already on board. Haven't bought a cod since black ops 2 and now I'm avoiding this game like the plague. Bfv was the last straw, especially after what their last CEO said about us fans. On a side note, if age restrictions were enforced then little kids would be forced to stay on Fortnite. Leaving adult rated games to us and cutting micro transactions in half. Fuck EA and Dice.
Amateurs. I've been boycotting battlefield since battlefield 4. The launch of that game was disgusting and I never bought a new battlefield since. You guys are cute.
You can't convince dumb people with money that their money is valuable. People spend on impulse buys. Hence why Sims 4 has released 8 YES 8 kits in 7 months. If we had it our way, Maxis would be sold. Anything to get them away from EA
The biggest problem with 2042 is the absence of the original class system. These archetypes or specialists kind of break the system that makes battlefield fun. Yes it’s nothing like Arma III or Squad but the tactical chaos of making sure the assaults destroy the tank or the supports are giving ammo makes the system of battle the loop of the game. I think these specialists can work but think of it like this, you need something general before getting into specifics, if you loose the general the specifics become the general and now it feels bloated and unfocused. That’s really my only complaint as far as actual gameplay goes but yes, the industry needs to learn to delay when it’s needed.
Exactly, the player base is largely male, largely white males if we're. Wing honest. And you're going to MAKE us play as a nonbinary black chick in order to use the wingsuit or as an old white lesbian to be a medic! Cmon! I don't mind them as options, but if they actually cared about "representation" offer customability! That allows rhe player to choose what they want to look like and everyone is happy.
I bought the game a week ago since it was on sale and I wanted to see if it was as bad as people say, honestly I had so much fun playing it and maybe it’s just because I’m a huge fps fan but I just got on and played for hours without getting bored of it. The only problem I’d have with the game is the slow level up system since I’m not even level 20 yet and I’ve probably put a good 15 hours in by now
Yes, the game is in much better situation now. But the first few months there were many game breaking bugs and glitches. At this point the only thing I don't like is the lack on content, I have about 400 hours and I am level master 64. You guess, I have unlock most of the things in the game. There are few 2042 weapons and maps.
I honestly thought about that whole "The game will be better in the future" thing. I'm starting to think that the bigger developers aren't paying for game testers or something. From a business standpoint I could see the mentality of: "Why Pay for play testing when you can ship it and patch it later." It's getting unbearably annoying to build hype for a game then on release its a buggy mess.
That's BS. Of course they are paying the testers and they have a lot of them. It's just the rush in which they're trying to make the game. At this rush you either push the developers to crunch and overwork, or release an unfinished product. There is a healthy way to release a game, which is waiting for years, but big companies don't seem to like that much.
The fact that games like Vanguard had been in production for over 2 years and had so many developers working on it and still was a mess when it came out is unacceptable, people are gonna just give up on the franchise eventually.
Modern Warfare should have been their last game. People loved the warzone so much (not is much myself), the guns felt amazing, they could add spec ops and story content for years to come. But never update spec ops, warzone map is the same, no more story. Hadn’t played Cold War or vanguard and I won’t.
vanguard is alright honestly not horrific i’ve definitely played worse cod games but i honestly think game companies just don’t care anymore they’re only in it for the money why take the time to make a finished game when you can drop a game that’s 80% done and still get the same amount of money
I think Vanguard is a much better game than 2042 at its core. The game shipped with an excellent campaign and serviceable multiplayer. Zombies is a bit lacking at the moment, but is supposedly supposed to get some more content in the next week. Hearing about how they supposedly rushed it to meet the deadline, it's incredible that it's as functional as it is.Battlefield on the other hand......😬
I love Battlefield, but the direction they've taken with this game is just unacceptable for me. I know Battlefield wasn't a super realistic war game before, but it used to be enough for me to get immersed. The whole "no-pats" specialist/operators thing with no allegiences and stupid quips after each game, really makes it hard for me to be immersed. Other issues such as balancing and bugs can be fixed, but a game design flaw like the operators is pretty much unfixable, because it would make it an entirely different game. Probably a better one, but still. Battlefield Portal is the only saving grace for this entire game, because it lets you play the earlier and much better games. Even then, you'd have more fun by actually playing the old games.
But even BF3 and BC2 in Portal feel more like 2042 with the animations and weapon/vehicle handling. They really need to work on making them feel like the originals games they're based on.
🥺😐☹️ I invested in this game twice (bought a copy for myself and my brother, both ultimate edition $240 total) because we were big fans of the game since Battlefield 3. I even saw the trailer for Battlefield Portal and was jaw dropped on how clean and new the maps looked on each of their respective title. And some gamers that I spoke with online are saying it will get better just have to give the developers time to fix the known issues and to make things right. Sadly, this is where I say "I'm done". I can not and will not buy another Battlefield game as long as they are with EA or they keep making misdirecting, irresponsible, illogical, greedy and time wasting decisions. I am past beyond my breaking point. I can't cover extra shifts just to spend my extra earnings of sleepless nights on a game that will not properly function on day one. I know those that are either in charge of this project or managing the release only care about the numbers of their bank accounts and not the sweat, tears and blood consumers shed to earn enough for at least the basic edition.
I really want Battlefield 2042 to succeed, so it's a pain it was released in such a buggy state. It feels like the game was meant for next gen consoles during development but with the shortage of consoles they were forced to release it on the last gen consoles as well was being rushed. Why not give it another 6 months to polish it up?
Hay I have no interest in it but two of my favorite all-time games were damn near unplayable when they launched hope the game improves so you can enjoy
I'm a relative newcomer to the franchise, started with BF3 and BF4 remains my favorite FPS of all time, and to me represents the peak of Battlefield (BF1 was a great change of pace and a good game, but didn't have the staying power for me like BF4 did). Stepped away from Battlefield after BF1 amidst the entire marketing/launch fiasco of BFV, and decided I would wait for a new release. I havent touched a Battlefield in about 4 years now, and 2042 had me excited beyond belief. A return to the days of 3 and 4, building on it and improving it. I essentially wanted BF4 part 2. This game fails at every possible turn to meet even the most basic of expectations for me. It feels like at every possible step they have backtracked, downgraded, and become less than they were before. That might have been forgivable, if they hadn't abandoned the identity, the core DNA of what made Battlefield *Battlefield*. 2042 isnt a Battlefield game, its what you get when the mishappen clone of Warzone cuts the face off of a Battlefield game and starts wearing it around. Everything down to the bones of the game feels wrong even when it functions. At this point I believe that the DICE I loved, that created some of the best moments of my childhood and my gaming hobby, is now irrevocably gone, and can no longer live up to their own legacy.
BF3 was ten years ago, I think you can say you are a veteran, lol. Some people who started with BF1 consider themselves as veterans, which is laughable.
I started with Battlefield 4 and I could not agree more. BF 2042 is kinda fun, but compared to BF4 it sucks. BF1 was really cool because it really made you feel as part of a war, getting in the mud, artillery blowing up all around you, being able to bayonette charge opponents when all of your ammo was expended, BF4 was amazing, modern day weapons, buildings that could be destroyed easily, operation locker was one of my all time favorites, the way each map had a big thing that could be blown up or destroyed, both of those games to me felt like battlefield. BFV made me feel as if the game was losing part of the battlefield identity, and now battlefield 4 just feels like they just deleted the good half of BF4 and just shit out a barely playable game.
I must be easy going nowadays bc I’ve enjoyed it since release, I just like to get on and play 2 games, get lost into the more realistic large scale warfare. I admit I enjoy sports games more so I’m easy going on shooters, but I’ll take this over the crazy fast paced nonstop cod stuff
Quite a few game publishers don't daf and are too arrogant to realize these games can't be half assed and expect people to buy it and be okay with it. Actually they don't care just as long as the a$$ kissing, impatient, people who pre order these games before they're released is enough money to cover the low cost of rushing a hot garbage game out to make investors happy.
See the thing is sure a lot of people are complaining avout the game but guess what the complaints are coming from people who already bought the game so they already made there money they have no reason (other then bad publicity) to try and make the game better
EA in a nut shell. BF is now Madden. Decreased effort by developers and increased cost to consumer. It can stop if ppl simply don’t put their money where it is not worth it. Stop buying Madden and don’t buy this shit game until it’s fixed.
I think I speak for a lot of players when I say we quite honestly would have liked to see just a constant set of updates and maps for BF4 and 1 with perhaps some of the quality of life and movement changes from 5... Those player bases have really healthy numbers still and for many represent a perfect balance between immersion and ambiance with 1 and the expanses and messy fun of 4. 2042 doesn't achieve anything that these 5-7-year-old games do and it's just heartbreaking. We don't have Battlefield but we certainly don't like where its gone.
My comment on the trailer 5 months ago: "9 years ago I started BF3 when my son was born and sick. He would stop breathing in his sleep, so I stayed up to watch him and play online. Today he is well and I'm still T-bagging you all on the Battle Field every week. Can't wait for this madness 😘" . . After a week of playing this.. Heavily disappointed, and I'm a grateful guy appreciating life.. If i had a physical copy of this game i'd burn it. Back to BF 5, see you all there. 😘
"Let's be honest. Everybody just wants a new Bad Company. Right?" There we go. You take your like sir. You've earned it. Just take BF3, and BF4. They were simple. Fun. They released a little unpolished, but the early game bugs didn't make the games unplayable. The maps were well designed. The different classes all played uniquely like that class, and if you needed ammo / health / enemy spotting, you knew who you had to find. They had good gameplay mechanics that were fair across teams. Easily distinguishable enemies and friendlies. Plenty of environmental destruction without going overboard and making every inch of the map destroyable. It seems to me that every release since then has been trying to make Battlefield more than it needs to be, and Dice dropping the ball with the new features. And release it as a Bad Company game, because I've been waiting to play as Preston, Sarge, Sweet, and Haggard again since the cliffhanger ending of Bad Company 2.
Okay so what would be different other than the box art saying bad company on it? Because I see this comment every BF release and other than voice recorded banter, nothing is different. The only difference between BC2 and BF3 is you can go prone….., and some how you think it’s a completely different game… Take a sharpie and write bad company on the front and you’re done.
I mean it’s very simple for me, besides the bugs and empty promises, it’s missing 80% of the features all other battlefields had upon release.. it is beyond a downgrade, and there is zero defending it.
The major problem for me is “loss of progress” Sure they’ll correct things but many times they change so much stuff you end up loosing all your progress
It’s a problem in itself that you need “progress” to enjoy gameplay. Just for the satisfaction of having done something meaningful. That is the smell of a bad game. Admittedly these modern games are completely locked away behind “progress” to fuel the feeling to keep going.
@@syproful I do not experience this. I do like to experience fun gameplay which I can in BF game. Nothing like have 20-50 players joining your fight in the middle of losing a point. Or facing 20-50 players bum rushing you. It is a battlefield.

The problem is people who bought it early and still say "It will get better". I am one those who ia waiting without buying so EA has to fix the game, add content and discount the game - EA would not like to do that so I win.
Yep, when they are getting ready to drop the next one

What hurt the most was that they dropped support for Battlefront 2 and Battlefield V in order to put all hands on the next game and they also even dropped the campaign to focus on the multiplayer. It makes you wonder what they’ve been doing all this time
Riding eachother
Making skins and dlc
Especially how battlefront managed to turn it around near the end of its life cycle. Right as that game was really hitting its stride and during a time where there’s more Star Wars content than ever

And they are posting what will be fixed in the future, i don't want to read that garbage that should be done before the game came out.
Clearly they didn't test this. Less money spent employing people.
couldn' t agree more
Im wondering if they actually hired any testers because it doesn't look like they did. what these testers people gotta say about this release because this game is completely unacceptable, super fail on behalf of EA and I hope they wont get theirs numbers they deserve that.
Bf1 was definitely my favourite, everything from the sound effects to the immersive gun play and destruction that game really had it all
It sucked compared to Bf3 or Bc2

Yes! It really seems like the only games to do live services right are free to play anyways. I HATE battle passes even more than loot boxes.
I don’t mind live service games when they’re free (see Fortnite and Apex, both of which are honestly still really fun and solid), but I absolutely despise the idea of paid games being live service, as it essentially allows the developer to release an unpolished product.

The specialists were definitely a miscalculation on DICE's part. That would have been better.

Alot of veteran devs left DICE , so the new generation felt bold and tried to do something new but well we all know how that turned out .....
Exactly. And if they wanted to try all these new "innovations" they could've just made a new game tittle alone. Or just Medal of honor with operators

That does make sense lol
Also they closed the servers in Africa, forcing those players on EU servers and by this dragging down the whole experiance for all players. At this point I could see the writing on the wall and I was pissed
When you play the game, it is as clear as day that BF 2042 was initially a BR. The maps are not designed for a Battlefield game.
Wouldn't be surprised. I'm sure this started development soon after BF5, and when they saw how poorly that game's BR mode was received they changed gears. BR was a mistake.
Lazy developers.
Operators are the worst thing in BF. The design choices are fucking awful. Bring back gadget and weapon descriptions, also bring back destruction

@@SpunkyGo0se That seems to just be gaming in 2021. Even Rockstar Games is making bullshit cash-grabs now. Everything is shit.
Ah, the snowflake mentality of the modern age.
Straight up.... look at the comms from the Devs.... This is an alpha that we are paying to test. Not only the technical issues, but also premise and execution. Dice is not playtesting and doing any market research on their own before release. They are doing it now. Using us... and we are paying them.
seems like good devs to me *says sarcastically*
Where u get that idea

Bro.... I was just telling my friend this yesterday. Word for word, I told him this shit wasn't battlefield this was Apex or call of duty
Pencil pushers looking at graphs- Sounds like Ubisoft approach. Everything is going live service.
I'd say it's more like Apex and COD did a ton of drugs, had a baby, and BF2042 was the crack baby that crawled out.
exactly, I hate the idea that say a new call of duty for example has too be so quote on quote "different".
Yeah that's the right way to go about it.

There's a theory going around that this game was originally a battle royale game. That's why the maps are so big and why we even have specialists. Been on that embargo for years, never buy new, always buy used so greedy companies like EA never see my dollar !

I’m still wondering how they messed up zombies so bad when that part of the game was done by Treyarch….
No. COD had been shit for years. If they stuck around after the sci-fi bollocks they’ll stick around forever.
Even then, you'd have more fun by actually playing the old games.
exactly, I think they're trying to be like apex with their quirky specialist dialogues, this just isn't it for them
The voice lines at the end are cringy as fuck! Miss just having the old scoreboard.
But even BF3 and BC2 in Portal feel more like 2042 with the animations and weapon/vehicle handling. They really need to work on making them feel like the originals games they're based on.
@@choutarokujo7686 I know the thing is Apex quips are not nearly and cringe
MONEY
Hay I have no interest in it but two of my favorite all-time games were damn near unplayable when they launched hope the game improves so you can enjoy
EA 👏
Pretty sure dice tried, but EA fucked then over
it still runs terribly on Series S and X anyway idk about playstation
I heard the frost or dice people got replaced. That could be a behind the scenes reason. The experienced coders and designers probably left
@@Keviekev115 Yes that is what happened, senior devs progressively left for retirement after BF1, that's why the series started to fall off with BFV.
I really don't get what is so bad about the game other than bucks?
Bf1 was a masterpiece. It's like Dice has their B team on 2042.
Battlefield One was great but I didn't like Battlefield V.
Aiden u keep ur legs closed over there
i second this. nothing could match the atmosphere in that game.
I just repurchased BF1 on PC, best decision of my life
@@fireboy1996 lol what? 🤣
My comment on the trailer 5 months ago:
"9 years ago I started BF3 when my son was born and sick. He would stop breathing in his sleep, so I stayed up to watch him and play online.
Today he is well and I'm still T-bagging you all on the Battle Field every week. Can't wait for this madness 😘"
.
.
After a week of playing this.. Heavily disappointed, and I'm a grateful guy appreciating life.. If i had a physical copy of this game i'd burn it. Back to BF 5, see you all there. 😘
BFV is dogshit tho... BF4 and 3 are where it's at.
@@DatBlueVQ I think that only heightens the point of his comment :P
Why
Your Average Otaku BFV is good
Glad your kids OK, sounds awful. I remember doing that the first few nights even though there was no real risk.
It feels like a free to play game
Exactly.
The only difference between BC2 and BF3 is you can go prone….., and some how you think it’s a completely different game…
Take a sharpie and write bad company on the front and you’re done.
@@tylerbrock4068 That's all you boil down BC2 to? LMAO, get your head examined.
what i remember the most was the audio. you can hear gunfire crack, every sound booms like a real warzone, Bad Company 2 with headphones is ear candy
BF4 was nearly unplayable when it was launched...
I mean it’s very simple for me, besides the bugs and empty promises, it’s missing 80% of the features all other battlefields had upon release.. it is beyond a downgrade, and there is zero defending it.
The major problem for me is “loss of progress”
Sure they’ll correct things but many times they change so much stuff you end up loosing all your progress
I don’t care what people think about this game the bugs give more challenge , I like that
LMAOOOOO
youre a badass
