I also have a free to join WT Squadron if you want to join one. Applications auto accept! Tag is =rbYT=
me still chilling at 12,850 hours
Is there still squadron xp? Iv not had any for the past couple months but I don't know if its the squadron that's glitched or me 😂 so maybe I need a new squadron to join 😉
@@sasmozza7019 after a patch a while ago it doesnt notify you and instead immediately applies it to the squadron vehicle you selected to research so you can no longer save up a ton then get a new tank later on and instead you now have to put it into something else
thank you 🙏
I think I am the second oldest member in the squad (not including you), I had a really good time squadding up with you. You are extremely good at the game, I learned a lot playing an hour with you, my username is RenDev_Ios which you may or may not remember.
Here is my biggest tip: BE PATIENT. Everything goes back to patience. All of my best moments are because of PATIENCE. It applies to aiming, positioning, and everything else you can think of.
I adapted a new strategy: everytime I think now would be a good time to push, I wait 20 seconds and wait for the battle to unfold. 85% of the time I see movement and can either spot or engage!
I fully agree unless you are in a r3... then its if you aint first you're last!
Honestly yeah the amount of times I'm like "ok let's fuckinggggg gooooo push now" and then wait for a second and see a dude... Impeccable.
Yeah I played Dayz, I could wait at A for hours
Completely agree! Patience and reminding myself to play support give me the most enjoyable battles.
I think the most important tip people almost never mention is that when you're new, you're going to die. You're going to die a lot. BR 1.0-3.0 is populated with tons of very experienced players, either because they find low tier more fun, have a specific vehicle or lineup they really enjoy playing in it, are attracted to the WW2 vehicles, or just plain enjoy seal clubbing. These players will not only be better than you in skill and fully able to spot you even when you're a set of 5 pixels 500 meters away on the left corner of their screen, but they'll also have just diametrically better tanks than you. Their crews will be fully leveled up and their tanks fully spaded, and they'll have a lot of experience using them. When you get seal clubbed, and you will be a lot, don't be disheartened. It happens to everyone and you can only get better and get on the same skill level as these seal clubbers. So just keep trying
As a seal clubber I can confirm.
They give newbies a grace period where they only put them into games with other newbies and incredibly easy bots. Still, even beyond that there's a lot of sealclubbers around, mostly using limited run slightly OP event rewards.
@@ausaskar That grace period lasts 5 matches. Unless you plan on quitting the game five matches into it, which honestly not a terrible decision, the majority of your experience in-game for the first 100-200 hours of the game is going to be relentless seal clubbing
Ah so my 20% winrate and near instant deaths sometimes are normal. :-D
Should I stick to arcade battles in the beginning or would that just hinder me in realistic?
Even if you're really good player you'll die a lot because this game is unbalanced af.. 4.3-7.3 Russians is the baddest techtree in the game, while 8,0-11.3 Russians have the best Techtree.. It is a pain in the A** to grind russians from 4.3 to 7.3.. 7.3 is the most painfull thing you could imagine in the whole game. No Gun Depri, no usefull Armor, no rangefinder, no thermals and no stabilyzer.. Getting Long Range Maps the whole time..
ryan: i didn't particularly do good
also ryan: gets 5 kills
ah yes, spookston syndrome
Checks out lmao
I just have higher expectations for myself based on past performance, which is both a good and bad trait.
@@ryanberry_I'm satisfied with 5 kills per game at 2.0-3.0...
@@nvs0k100You guys are getting kills?
@ultraslay7635 not anymore I left for a few months and I kinda lost my skill so I might have to rewatch this
The worst feeling is when you get 13 kills and your team still loses@@ultraslay7635
A minor thing about peaking from behind a hill and ping.
This is actually a scenario where higher ping is an advantage, latency goes both ways, your opponent will see you peeking beyond the hill later than if you were having a low ping.
It would be a disadvantage if your opponent does the same to you, or when you want to respond to an enemy.
True. I honestly forgot about peekers advantage. Been a while since I played Tarkov 😂 😂
that why you get one hell of a tigger finger and fire just before they poke out and hope to god they don't slam on the brakes like i do and they miss most of the time
in most fps games this is called peekers advantage
This is not necessarily the case as the server quite aggressively tracks and corrections your position (think back to any time you've had high ping and packet loss for a visual example). What matters more is the "lines of sight" for each player's guns and their shell trajectories (and by extension: vehicle armour).
This is also ignoring the rest of the problems with higher ping.
Peek*
You peek over the peak of a mountain.
Squad ping also can be used for alternative distance calculator. Simply ping your enemy, then see at the bottom of the tactical map how long 1 square is. Example: 1 square is 200 and say that your enemy is right in the middle of 5 square ahead (4x200 +100=700). Boom now u know roughly the distance. This is very useful in distance more than 1km and if you have low skill in range finder. Not only it's quicker but also if i am not wrong the manual(without laser/range finder mod) the distance is cap at 1.2km.
It's actually capped at 800m, glad to see other people recommending the squad ping method for ranging. You can also use it to accurately ping the map for your team or call artillery.
@@covenantslayergaming6362 the cap increases along with the rangefinder level (along with rangefinding speed).
My highest limit was 950-ish meters
@@rokairu0-216think I have my M51/Sho’t crew up over 1km at this point.
I just found you a few weeks ago and I'm honestly blown away by how good you are at this game. And that's on top of being so clear-headed and positive despite how frustrating WT can be. Really appreciate the videos and I hope to be even half the player you are one day.
Much love brother. Just tryna share the good times 👌
I realised waiting for enemies to come to you works. But when i was using t34 85 i was able to get 11 kills. I was moving around.
Biggest part of that is to just remember it's a game and don't get pissed off just because you got popped. Learn from your mistake and don't rage and keep repeating them.
As a 5000h ground forces player myself, that tip about third person aiming over ridge lines is incredibly helpful.
Not only do I hardly ever use third person to fire, I really hate how dirt and especially snow blocks your view while enemies can still hit you.
I already hate it when third person sometimes screws up my gun position due to parallax, so I avoided third person firing most of the time.
I forbid myself to third pesron aim, because in 100% cases my shot simply doesnt pen unless I aim weakspots through sights
Bob quit cooking burgers to become a war thunder streamer…what a time to be alive
Just found the channel, good tips. I think one of the biggest, yet undiscussed problems people face is being too anxious/aggressive. Sometimes it's okay to let one kill go if that nets you multiple kills later. Especially when you're simply dealing with someone who's more skilled or in a better position than you, it's okay to find someone else to shoot at if you have little chance of actually winning the confrontation.
Patience is key for sure... I'm very guilty of impatience a lot lmao
One thing i would mention is you can hold mouse 1 while in your binocular view to keep the gun alinged with the binocular view, this way you can get better picture of the target before firing your gun on the target by coming out of your binocular view by pressing (B=default). This way its easier to get accurate shots through ground clutter. Anyway great tips for people that aren't familiar with the game mechanics
I did briefly mention that in the beginning but yeah, I really should have given that point a more detailed explanation. I personally hold click at almost all times when in binos
I wanna add one small thing on the audio part if im not too late is trying to remember and know what you're listening to, each nation's tanks kinda has their distinct sound on low, mid, and high tier. Knowing how atleast each kind of vehicle (Medium, Heavy, Light, TD, etc) sounds can make a world of a difference on how you wanna engage it, especially if you're being sneaky picking the right moments and the right targets to engage is crucial.
Absolutely. Knowing the exact tank you're facing before even seeing it is a great advantage. At the very least narrowing down the possibilities. It will take a while but eventually you'll just know 👌
I learned right away that if you're playing bottom tier and it sounds like someone is mowing their yard nearby, theres something soviet on its way to ruin your day.
I'm really glad because I didn't start to play this game "on my own", I have a great buddy that's playing this game since 2015-2016 and he showed me so many useful tips, he showed me range finder, binoculars, he also explained to me dogfight tactics, what are the most "OP" vehicles on every BR, and honestly I've been surprised 'cause I didn't expect that I can play with a 3.3 YAG 10 'till 5.0 and still being a great player. Also he showed me the weak spots on many vehicles and I'm so glad I can kill a damn tiger with a single shot from a vehicle lower in BR. Silverbullet, u clearly deserve that name, you're a real one
What I really like about the binoculars is that they're always the same zoom level regarding of the vehicle so it's useful for guessing ranges based on the size of the tank in it
Yeah the fix gun direction will defently help me improve my gameplay.
So many times i have been killed because my gun is aiming down after a bump in the road or by using binos or free look and the gun is so slow raising again.
Thank you for this tip Ryan.
Also i would love you to make some videos of you sharing tips and tricks on mapknowlage. Good positions and strategies etc. Would be a much appreciated video i think :)
I do have a vague concept for going over a map or several maps in one video. Like a "Why X Map Is Broken" type video that addresses all the positions on it
@ryantheberry Yeah i think that would be fun to watch. You seem so knowledgeable so hearing your input would be great 🙂
And tbh i don't think you even have to make a dedicated video for only that. You could just start implementing your opinions into your regular videos. Just talk about why you go to what position and why you like it etc.
And why this position is broken and show us etc.
Gives you something to talk about aswell.
Fun gameplay mixed with good info and tips to improve or do good in a game etc.
That's one of that things that should be enabled by default.
That third person pre aiming is really awesome, I didn't know it works with normal dirt's, so far I only know it would certainly works on snow map, definitely would try this out :D
Something I would probably want to add about binoculars: Binoculars are, unlike the gunner sight, stabilized or at least they allow a much more smooth observation of your surroundings while moving. Binoculars also are better to see through, since you don't have a ranging-sight blocking your view. Moving enemies are much easier to spot than enemies standing still and a 'stabilized' observation of your surroundings allow for better recognition of movement in the distance, which again, the binoculars do a much better job at.
Also - peak around corners in third person before going around corners. It's not game-mechanics abuse, 3rd person view is free for everyone, and while a bit fiddly, it will definitely save your life.
And a thing about squad markers: Even planes can place down squad markers, but the marker will appear where the nose of the plane is pointing at that very moment. If you are in a fighter, out of ordnance and without enemy planes to chase, you can provide a fairly decent scout for your squad mates on the ground aswell.
Since knowledge is might, an eye in the sky is a battle half won.
And in the lower BRs, most 20mm cannons can penetrate engine deck armor and some/most belts include 1 or more AP rounds, and machine gun fire from above can easily distract an enemy and provide a pretty pin-point marking of an enemy position for your squad and teammates, provided you use tracer rounds.
Im not gonna lie the fixed gun position setting is a must have for me
An extremely useful feature of the binoculars is that you can use them for aiming, great at long ranges or for shooting form behind bushes which obstruct your gun sight. When you press down LMB while looking through the binoculars, the gunner will always move the barrel exactly vertically over the target, regardless of any uneven terrain. You just hold down LMB and then fire instantly by pressing shift to switch to the sight view. This can allow you to shoot long range over hills with no direct line of sight through the gun sight as long as the expected and actual barrel position indicators overlap (the small semi-transparent and opaque circles).
As a new player this was so much more useful than the beginner guides that just kept reading out the tank stats as if I knew what they meant
5:35 “Unfortunately, he decided to survive so we’ll have to shoot him again”😂😂😂
I love your videos, this one will definitely help. After watching your videos I’ve employed some things and developed my own. Since doing that, it’s made the war thunder experience a lot better for me
i started war thunder roughly two months ago, iv been having loads of fun, but most UA-camrs give all the same generic tips, this video has helped me ALOT especially with mapping controls.
Loved the video! You presented some very very nice tips that I did not see before from other content creators. Also, mad respect for playing on such ping!
I cant say how much i enjoy this content and how much it helps me play, thank you so much
5:37 gold. both the hint and the commentary
These are, without a doubt, the best and most useful tips that also include the controls setting screens that I've seen since starting to play this damn game last week. Especially learning to use gun look around lock, and mapping machine gun, that's fantastic. Thank you. Shame none of the bigger War Thunder UA-camrs couldn't ever be arsed to do something like this.
Hey man you got some really great tips! You're very educational, helpful, and your sense of humor is amazing while showing what war thunder has done to you ☠️
Awesome work my friend. I found your channel today and iam glad i did. Your tips will help my WT experience a lot.
Been playing for quite a few years now. I come back every so often and I’ve never been amazing but fairly competent player. I find every once in a while I need a refresher coming back to the game. Great video!
Really helpful video Ryan maybe you could do a video that shows good positioning on some maps
Just found this channel, honestly very impressed.
I got stuck/bored in 3.0-4.0 BR germany, currently getting to tier II US tree, and these tips might just help me a lot
so many usefull tips, i am definitely putting some of these great tips into my own gameplay
I've put 400 hours into WT (mostly ground) and this is by far the best tip video I've seen. So much stuff in here I had no idea about. GRAMERCY!
I am thinking of (re)starting to play WT. I liked this video a lot, your style of explaining things is something I could get used to. So yes, more please!
Ive played plenty of air RB but I’m only just starting with ground RB. This taught me lots of new tips that will hopefully help me get better at ground RB. The good thing for me is that I always have a good CAS for the BR
This is one of the best War Thunder Ground Tips vids I have watched. :) Thank you!
The comeback to UA-cam has been phenomenal man, good stuff
This video was really helpful man! Subbed right away, hope to see more from you!
Hey man thanks a lot for this , some settings here i wasn't aware , especially the sight thing i always had to to my mouse extra buttons , but on scoll wheel is so much better , thanks a lot
Best damn tips I've seen so far! Great job and Thanks!
This video had lot of very useful tips, some of them I didn't know about after 2k hours.
Those first 3 tips are a game changer for me TY!!!
another tip for binoculars, you can hold left click while in the binocular view and then go back to gunner view to instantly shoot where you are aiming
Ryan, I'm in a squadron thats in top 100... I showed one of your other videos and it got a good response... Could you do a video on how you use your spotting for effect... I have watch many of your videos and how you spot thru walls and terrain and then use that knowledge effectively to get your insane kill totals... I think that would help my squad mates immensely... Thanks again for all your hard work creating these videos.
This is really useful thank you, I was pretty good at ground RB but recently got out of practice and I’m pretty ass at it rn so this was a huge help :) 👍
Damn good advice, map knowledge is a really important part of doing good, since you don't choose what map you'll play it can't be easily learned expect for dying over and over again
Yes, we need more of this, thank you!
unreal vid, been playing nearly 7 years and this helped me
Really great tips, thank you!
Played 1000h war thunder and didn't know a lot of controls to bind. Fix gun direction is a must for me now because i always find my barrel pointing the ground when i'm trying to shot someone. Thank you
I actually play WT for a while and actually learn something new, great video lad
8:14 OMG! I legitimately did not know about that! It annoyed me so much that my gun wasn't fixed. This is super helpful and will now stop me from dying stupidly.
Great video, thank you! Really helpful tips.
Really useful video
I found how to use binocs on my own but squad marking and 3rd person shooting will be very useful
I have been looking for the fix gun direction for literally YEARS! I came to War Thunder from World of Tanks where that is the default, so I was used to using it a lot because it's just so useful. Thanks a bunch!
Same here, I had some strong muscle memory from WoT for locking the gun. It's not perfect but it does the job
I've got at least 3500 hours in the game with a mix of planes and ground. You've still expanded just little bits of my knowledge which I find amazing. Have a like sir.
Helped a lot thanks!
Great video ! I have way too many hours to have found 90% of this useful. Yeah you can thank me for making the grind a little easier 😅
I never knew about the fixed gun option! That setting will safe me a billion times on hills, thank you!
As 3k hours player I can confirm this tips are useful, nice video 🎉
Thanks for the help, specially at control binds.
This helped me alot, thx mate.
very nice tipps it helped a lot more than the "basics" like angle or else in other videos :D
Some good tips. Thanks!
Thank you. Three year player who has avoided RGB until now. I subed ya.
Thanks this helped me get started in wt and not get absolutely demolished by experienced players
w bro i rly love the content your js one of those hidden gems in the wt community u deserve more support ong
fr fr ong honestly
I dont subscribe to many people but you definitely earned it with this video i thinj i might be the 20,500 sub since it was 20.4 before i hit the button. Congrats.
i started last week and some of these are really helpful
Thanks a lot, i play only WW2 tanks, but some of your tips helped me to make my first 11 kill / 0 death with my Tiger I E (especially block my turret when i'm in free cam)
Nicely done bro! Happy to hear some tips still helped!
I just started to play this game, thanks for the tips.
This was awesome. I've played around 50 hours and didn't actually play any tutorial or pay much attention to the tips/hints... so I had no idea about binos. I play mostly air, but this stuff was great for improving ground games.
You got me subscribing with that video.
Great video, thanks. Just a "heads up" a lot of the locations for your recommended controls to bind seem to have changed in the "controls' menu. To find them people will need to use the search bar at the top of the menu screen
Here is what I go with:
1) Play all crew slots. You get 5 with just silver. It doesn't matter if you only have low tier trash left. Any vehicle can cap points. Any vehicle can be a distraction. Any vehicle can spot an enemy with gunfire. It doesn't matter if you already have that vehicle aced, xp still goes towards the grind and improving the crew.
2) Don't bring aircraft. Aircraft are ok when you already control the map. When you are losing they are terribly expesive respawn point coffins that can't play objectives.
3) Put others' engine sound to max, your own to minimum. Sound is a massive aid to awareness.
4) Game going poorly is not a defeat. Quitters sink games, stay in the fight.
5) Pay attention to bonds shop. There are decent premiums to pick up now and then.
love this vid, thx mate.
Very helpful, thanks
Super useful, thanks
Im surprised by how little importance people give to audio. In an urban map audio is literally wallhacks and not just hearing, using it against your oponents is a super easy way to improve if you arent already.
Once i got killed by a really smart player, we were hesring eachother around some streets and neither of us were advancing because of it, we were aware both of us knew eachothers location. So he dropped artillery on himself to cover up his engine audio just long enough to go down the other street and appaer behind me. Be like this man, get Ws
I've used the arty dropped on me as a cover multiple times but i never thought about dropping it myself
On par with sound settings, you can also change some video settings like brightness and post-effects. Play with them. Right setting can improve ease of visual finding.
started playing back in 2013 and still learned a thing today, thx
Damn, ur ground vehicle tips gave me a massive boost for my air RB controls on PS5.
Sounds a bit weird, but yes 😂. Thank you
AWESOME content. Especially for new players like me.
This was a great video for me as a beginner.
Good stuff, thx💪
great video man, a lot of these tips are super helpful!
side note: 5000 hours, and not max crews... yet gaijin sees no issue here. its what holds me back from starting more nations, i hate having low level crews and the crew level grind is so abysmal
I mean max crew isn't a huge deal, I only care about Reloading, Targeting, Driving and Leadership. After that it just needs to be high enough to expert the crew and I'm happy. I also play every nation equally
@@ryanberry_ that’s understandable, i just wish it was a bit quicker to level crews. also that wasn’t suppose to be an insult to you, just a gripe with the game, sorry if there was a misunderstanding
@@maverickjhett Oh for sure dude. Crews are also so critical to being even remotely competitive as well. They're the most impactful and most pay to win aspect of the game. Would be nice if they grinded a little faster
I like this style of content.
I actually have a tip for mid-low rank ground rb, especially for newer players, when you ping on a map (or easier and more accurate - use yellow squadron ping ) you can look at minimap and calculate the distance to the target manually in head, usually faster than the rangefinder and over unlimited distances, by looking how much one square on the minimap represents (usually between 150 and 400 metres, but can be more), counting how many squares are between you and the enemy, and then multiplying the count by the width/negth of one square. Also be patient :)
Nice info 👌
Great stuff...thanks man...
I noticed that scouting targets now tell you the distance - this really helps in tanks without a laser and avoids you having to rangefind at times. Got my fair share of distance kills that way
These are actually good tips
Patience - most important thing in this game. I started it 5 months ago. Usually 1-2 kills for 5-6 games. Now I’m at TT with 8-9 kills pervgame
Fun fact, there is 2 different ways to aim artillery, one by using the map and the other is 3rd person camera where you just visually aim where you want it to go. You can toggle between the aiming modes. I can't remember exactly how though since I use map artillery 99% of the time. I imagine the other mode could be useful for line of sight artillery targets though.
Thank You Ryan, very important tips. Pls. share if/when you got some more.
I watched nearly one hour guide of this game and didnt know anything about tips on this video ❤👍👍👍
Actually very helpful video
Wow, I am a pretty good AB and a decent RB player with more than 3000 hrs in, but even I found some things new!
Thank you! :D
"Unfortunately, he decided to survive" Lmao
