- there was a lot of controversy surrounding the downgrade in Mary Jane's character model in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games on PlayStation 5 being dramatically changed compared to MJ's model in Spider-Man on PS4 & PS5. Overall it looks like she aged 20+ years and could have literally been Peter's mom at times. Well it has recently come to light that one of the key writers for Spider-Man 2 at Insomniac has self inserted herself into the game in the role of Mary Jane which would explain the downgrade in her appearance and overall awful writing and character development in Spider-Man 2, as well as the continuation of the long detested Mary jane Missions which literally serve no purpose other than to pander.

My Marvel's Spider- Man 2 (PS5) Review which is developed by Insomniac Games as an exclusive for Sony's PlayStation 5, PS5 Digital, and PS5 Slim Console. Overall I wanted to like this game going in but once again Sony releases another game where the majority of the game is something you watch instead of play. 60-70% of the game is literal cutscenes and the story and combat that is there never really pulled me in or got me even slightly interested in the game at all. I would say if you didn't like the original Spider man game on PS4 or Miles Morales you are gonna think Spider Man 2 is Trash or Spider Man 2 sucks. this is more of the same with no real significant changes. there are certain moments in this game that are genuinely enjoyable but my overwhelming sentiment towards the game is definitely negative. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is another prime example of the Generic, Boring, and Mediocre Sony PS5 First Party Exclusive formula in action.
Insomniac Games & PlayStation have proven to be Hypocrites once again with their claim of being LGBT "Allies" by removing all the woke missions from the Middle Eastern version of the game. This goes to show that the only reason this stuff was ever put in the game in the first place is blatant virtue signalling to the point where they can literally just remove it with literally zero actual effect on the game itself. This is also ironic considering that when Spider-Man got a PC port a few years ago, users were getting banned by modding sites for doing the exact same thing and replacing pride flags with American flags but now Sony and Insomniac are putting out an official version of the game doing exactly just that - Ігри

Concept artists often get to work hours and hours coming up with fantastic ideas that'll simply go down the drain because someone up above in charge of the narrative doesn't like a particular aesthetic choice. Seems like a lot of people are using your argument to move the focus from what's pretty much already in our faces.

What makes this even more funny is that the devs lied about Mary Jane's face model being the same as the first game after some people complained about her looks on Twitter. I don't know why they decided to replace the original face model with an ass ugly girl who looks like she eats nothing but Doritos and mountain dew and smells like cheese. They're really trying to push the "ugly is the new pretty" propaganda.
They didn't fucking lie dude. It is literally the same fucking face model, you can look her up online and honestly she does look very similar to MJ in SP2. I'm willing to assume that the fact MJ looks bad in some instances is because of the difficulties in translating a real human face into a game engine, but you guys are going to be bad faith and assume malice.

From what I understand, the writers for this game basically turned Mary Jane into Amber from the Invincible show.
I couldn’t believe that Scream fight had FOUR identical phases. Who thought that was a good idea..
The writer didn't have to remove the Mary Jane sequences from the game to make her a badass, just had to keep in mind that this is a Spider Man game and make the supporting character actually support the hero. Imagine if instead of this we had something similar to Black Widow and Hulk from the first Avengers movie! Instead of countless sections of Mary Jane killing people, make one great horror sequence where Peter goes on a rampage and she is terrified but doesn't give up on him almost costing her life, then have Miles come in and save her, turning in an epic boss fight! This would make MJ seem extremely empathetic and sweet, it would also show that Peter could be an unstopable force, AND it would show that Miles is capable of being Spider Man on his own.
It's nice to have a character who is strong and capable, but a character who is kind and loving is just as admirable, you just have to look at Snow White and Luke Skywalker and how their modern iterations made fans so angry.
I don't know if this goes against the comics but they could have made Mary Jane be this amazing person who always seem to handle every problem with intelligence, humbleness and a smile. It would make sense why Peter is so infatuated by her and everyone who played would be too.
But i don't know, maybe that's just me.

MJ was a supermodel and a popular actress on a daytime soap opera. The character was vastly out of Peter Parker’s ‘league’ but she loved him anyway, and she loved him before he confessed to being Spider-Man. She fell in love with the Huuuuuge Nerd, which gave hope to all of us nerdy comic readers back in the day 😂

I am happy I found this video. You are literally voicing my exact thoughts regarding MJ in this story. The internet is making me feel crazy for disliking the story. Tbh the gameplay in the MJ sections felt good but for an average person to take out the enemies MJ took out completely ruins the enemies in the game and makes them feel like they aren't a threat. The Scream section made me laugh so hard as Peter just nonstop apologizes and the bitch saves herself... god this game's story sucks and now we know why

They most boring parts of Spider-Man 1 was the MJ sections, can't believe they doubled down on this in 2. I was really looking forward to the story of 2 but after seeing a lot of footage (MJ sections, riding around on a bike as Peter, etc) the game looks kinda boring.
