This is one of my favourite movies ever!! The scene of a desolate London was filmed super early about 5am on a Sunday morning and in editing they brightened it to be full day time. The scene on the M1 (motorway/highway) was a pretty big deal as they got permission to shut part of it off, which hadn't been done before. They had a rolling police escort for one hour, so regular traffic could follow behind without much inconvenience. The choice of camera was deliberate. It's gritty and raw, reflecting the sudden trauma of a pandemic , social abandonment and the grey uncertainty of the future. The cinematography is outstanding because of the directors choice of using a whole bunch of "shitty" cheap cameras. Also, the music while Cillian rescues the girls from the rapey squaddies is genius.
thanks for the info! wow, there was a lot of efforts put to play to create this awesome movie. the camera choice makes sense. and the acting was so good plus the director made the family element draw you in. this was a really good one for me! thank you for your time and have a good day.
@@randomlyreactandreviewfirstEzy Honestly, the director is brilliant. He's made some of the best grittier British films. I recommend watching 28 Weeks later too. It's a different director but it runs with a very similar flow to this one and family is even more significant. The opening scene...just be prepared 😂 You've got yourself a new subscriber, I really enjoyed your reaction and insight 👍🏻 have a great weekend
@@LandPirate1 hey thanks! I will have the sequel reaction out soon. I'm happy you like the video! and welcome to my community I'm glad to have you here. you have a good weekend as well.
Yeah, cameras, editing etc are all deliberate choices, the only thing I can add is that the infected scenes are filmed at a different frame rate, to make them appear more frantic. They do the same with Jim towards the end to confuse you as to whether he is infected or not. There's also an alternate ending, where Jim dies, Selena fails to rescue him in the hospital. Fun fact, she's Tia Dalma in Pirates Of The Caribbean .
@@Sandy-dd4le hey thanks pal, yeah I've seen the alternate ending as I stated in my video. and yeah I seen in her resume she did the Pirates of the caribbean. thank you for your comment.
for sure there wasn't enough time to completely loot everything. what I get from Saleena's companion's story who she killed after getting infected, he describes how he lost his whole family in a split second! too quick of a virus spread so that market where they got the food would be full as well.
yeah, this soundtrack is really good! these movies were a game changer in the Zombie Genre. I will have the second part out after a few more movie reactions. thanks for checking my video. ok have a good day.
this movie stressed me out bad the first time i seen it. sad part is that no matter how it happened, Frank was gonna die anyways at the hands of those soldiers.
Fun fact: There's a comic series set after the film. Jim does end up dying, in the most anger inducing way possible - he ends up being executed for murder, as him attacking the soldiers in this film is seen by the rest of the world as a crime. Never mind that it was literal self-defence - the world decides HE was in the wrong. This causes Selena to lose faith in humanity again, and she reverts to the person she was. It's really sad.
thank you for this. did you watch the alternate ending to 28 Days? Jim didn't get a positive outcome their either. however, I did feel that's how it should have ended. (more realistic after being shot in abdominal up close)
@@randomlyreactandreviewfirstEzy I did see the alternate ending, and I actually agree - I think it's more impactful and more realistic. Apparently that was supposed to be the original ending, but test audiences felt it was too depressing, so they changed it to the theatrical release you saw.
yeah, I agree a lot more impactful, and Salena and Hannah walked off too bad ass! it appeared as if they were going to kick all the ass. I felt satisfied with that.@@LordofFullmetal
When Jim kills the soldiers, I love how it symbolizes that we as humans are no different than the infected, both are capable of showing the equal limit of pure rage. Only reason this movie shows it is because we are able to do this too.
Same! think it's the great cinematography and super saturated digital camerawork. Unique soundtrack and just visually stunning really. An art house take on the genre.
28 Days Later went through many different endings. The most well known one is where Jim dies from Major West's gunshot wound. A second ending (only storyboarded) had Frank survive by Jim replacing his blood with Frank's and the third ending that was only floating around as a concept had pretty much the entire event be nothing more than just a dream of Jim while he was in his coma.
Well I kinda jumped on to watch while I do a treatment and just usually grab whatever is on top of my feed youtube suggests. Just watched ur 28 Weeks Later, cause it was on top, then it suggested this one so Im watching these backwards, lol. Either way Id be doomed with these zombies. Yep, DOOMED! for my honest point, the first movie is by far the better of the 2, because the second movie is very, VERY bad write, the only one good thing the second movie has to give is the opening, the rest of the movie is mediocre as fuck in writing
he reason the camera quality sucks is because this was one of the last small-budget but big films. I think it was recorded on a camera you could pick up at best buy or walmart back in 2002
true, and I also got some research that was saying the movie was chosen to have an apocalyptic feel from camera but yeah, I have cameras better than those. thank for commenting.

No matter how bad the world got I’d never violate a woman. Especially a young girl (Hannah) that’s just fucked. Doing that kind of shit would make you worse than the infected.
I always thought it was goofy how lame and ready to go them soldiers were. In 2016 I decided to try to be celibate for an entire year, and I managed to do it. Right, that's a fact those guys were just creeps in normal times and decided to let their true selves come out being no punishment would happen. I was angry during their scenes. and Frank just was murdered by them. I feel that was a setup from them coming right after he got infected.
@@randomlyreactandreviewfirstEzy agreed, I think they planned on killing him anyway. I think they kept Jim alive for the simple fact he was another another man and probably potential soldier in their eyes
They were probably like that before this whole thing started, but the difference is there's infected people around, and most of the people in the UK are dead, and for all they know the world. So they justified it as repopulating the world (not that I'm defending them, but it's different you deciding to do it)
