Great video Taylor! You were most certainly right about the school kids too haha. Also, look on the bright side of having to drive in Lewisham, you might bump into Mike some day on the off chance! Anyways, keep it up!
Good to hear you are on the 122 and 96 next week Taylor! I’m sorry to hear about the school kids as they’re probably from my school. 😢 I’ll let you be rest assured that there are many kids at my school who actually respect the drivers (including myself) and listen to the rules. The naughty ones annoy me probably as much as they annoy you.
I prefer the buses on the 96 because it's nice to drive a good old fashioned diesel bus feels like real bus driving. I do love the hybrids and the newer buses they are very easy to drive but it is good to drive a diesel only bus once in a while. I am very much looking forward to trying the Enviro 400 EV City buses when the 180 comes to us.
Each garage must have a route that nobody likes doing so it must be easier to put new drivers on that route? How do you get off a route you don't like?
Once you get onto a rota you just put in a request to get onto a route you want to do. However, it can take a long time to get onto a route you want to do because you have to wait for a space to open up on the rota so it can vary in terms of how long you have to wait.
I know what you mean about school kids and giving them free travel was the most ridiculous idea ever, lazy kids going a few stops and fare paying passengers can't get on. I would have thought that the 122 would be better than the 177 although obviously opinions will vary. Is the 96 the most popular route at PD? I remember a PD driver saying the 99 was a nice route when you had it.
A lot of drivers say that the 122 is worse but like you say opinions vary between drivers and yes the 96 is the most popular at the garage which rivaled the 99 when we had the route before they stupidly lost it to Arriva. The 99 was their most profitable route so they really needed to keep it but the stupidly lost it to Arriva. The only bad section of the 99 is Slade green in my opinion.
I used to be a bus driver day time and teach English at night but now I only teach... I dig everything you feel on good, bad routes, cheeky students signalling with their feet, long hours and such... But I liked it, made a million friends passengers and fellow drivers... Your vids are quite nice! , frank and friendly... It's a pity I can't drive a Double Decker... Must be so cool!
Scania's aren't hybrid the 122 and 177s are required to be hybrid vehicles they are only used in extremely rare circumstances where they don't have any other buses
Make sure you have all of your documents first and foremost! They will just ask you questions about the job to see if you have knowledge of what the job is about, safety questions etc. If you are successful you fill out your paperwork to apply for your provisional and you get your medical booked that's it really
If you got the extra ride on the 177 wouldn't you get paid double (the holiday + the extra ride) because of the Bank Holiday? Can't you ask for a change of route? Since you loathe the 177 (even I loathe it just to hear you talk!) and prefer the 96...
Because i'm on the spare list I have to cover duties so I don't get a say what route I do. Once i'm on a main rota after my probation period that's when I get to choose what route I do.
I personally haven't had stones thrown at my bus but I've had snow balls and pure ice thrown at my bus the most common thing people throw at buses are eggs that's all to common in london
It depends on the company you are looking to work for some companies offer more hours than others it all depends on the routes the operate and the duties
When you talk about the 96 we can see the sparkle in your eyes! That's real love!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I've been enjoying doing overtime this last 2 years, more than the previous 15 years, when I stopped doing overtime in 2005.
No one cares son

F##k overtime.
School kids, Shut the doors, until they stop pushing. If they don’t, drive on.
Yeah there's been a few occasions where I've called the police to get school kids off the bus

I’m gonna go out on a whim and guess that you like the route 96.

Yeah they love to push and shove and not listen to my instructions
Great video! I personally don’t like the 177 as a route though I prefer the buses to the 96’s allocation... imo 96 would be better with B5s

Every time bus drivers come to pick up people from my school the drivers always end up turning the engine off and calling the police😂😂

@@TaylorStraub can you request to be on spares forever
@@HACKERHITMARKER333 No that's not allowed
@@TaylorStraub Different Garages/companies have different rota's Enfield has a late spare rota for those who only want late duties
I love you so much Taylor x ❤️ x
in israel all bus drivers do overtime most of them work 260 hours a month a few over 300 my record 338 in 1 month
Great video would you go out on any other bus garages and if so which one would u go to ??
Probably not to be honest the only one I would think about going to is Dartford because it's really close to where I live and my dad works at Dartford
@@TaylorStraub you should come to Bromley. We could team up on a video or two.
How much can you make a week ?

You'll be fine!
Once’s your on a route and you go onto another can you take yourself off the old route?
When you are off the spare list and on a rota you only do one route so if you switch routes you only do your new route
@@TaylorStraub oh makes sense so how comes your not just only on the 96s can you take yourself off the 177 and 122s
