I've did my cbt driven bikes 🏍 5 years my hazard awareness and gutt instinct you sense incidents in slow motion I've seen drink drivers behaviours drivers on phones 📱 so bikers tend make great bus drivers and hgv drivers And made me better car driver So you're right
Just passed the exams for Dublin bus. Looking forward to take my bus on the road. Definitely I’ve learned a lot. To respect pedestrians, cyclists, bikers….traffic lights. Thx pal
Hi do you think an hgv rigid driver would have an advantage in passing the pcv test as opposed to someone who has never driven a large vehicle because although the answer seems obvious the hgv driver may have a lot of bad habits and the complete novice may be more open minded.
I tend to find lorry drivers use the might of the vehicle and are heavier on the brakes, whereas car drivers are more cautious when learning in a full size bus or coach. That's not always true but you can see when it is. Also even the most experienced drivers tend to start-stop too much. I demonstrate "one-pedal" driving and expect my trainees to be able to use the gas pedal to slow down rather than depending on the brakes all the time. It's like making a cup of tea, if you put too much sugar in you can't take it out, you then have to add salt. ( Use the brakes) Also lorry drivers suffer less from the "Tom and Jerry syndrome" as I call it, where they chase smaller vehicles into impossible gaps.
Tremendous stuff. Its a real benefit to listen to someone who knows bus driving and how to train learner drivers.
Thank you Craig !
Thanks Chris please keep us informed as to how you do...
Thank you🫡

Regarding habits, it varies from person to person. More important is the Psychomotor function of the brain, peripheral vision and experience.
