Passengers always ask me the same question, why does the bus go slow. I always say that the bus has to go slow a) to keep to a schedule and to avoid stopping at timing points for a considerable amount of time b) to keep the ride comfortable c) to regulate the flow of traffic d) keeping the customers safe Last but not least e) to keep myself in a job which I love. Hope all is well Taylor and good video by the way
I think car drivers should be of the mindset that professional drivers for the most part are experienced, skilful, and know what they are doing, much more so than the average car driver. Therefore they should not hoot and hassle them, but show a little respect.
Glad you mentioned the your view about being late on the bus - I found it interesting and it possibly explains a few things I've seen too. Also, you said something else I find very true. For me, 50mph feels slow in a car but the complete opposite in a bus. (I'm not a driver, but still considering)
Good video man. I have no idea why buses are slow too as well, hope these buses need sorting out as fast. Our RML2760 is originally owned by stagecoach london as well
Great video Taylor and totally agree with everything you are saying if a car driver would be sat in our position and see what we have to put up with hopefully they would see the error in their ways but i doubt it. Cheers
Most of the complaints I hear about slow buses are not so much the speed when moving but the time they spend at stops wasting time to regulate the service etc, I realise of course drivers need to allow more time for elderly and disabled passengers.
People just need to understand that buses aren't meant to be fast and it's out of our control when we have to wait at bus stops if we get instructed to wait we have to wait if we don't we get reported to the garage manager and we can face disciplinary action for not following instructions from the controller.
Nice video👌i like it when you give advice how to behave on the road around buses and large vehicles because I'm only about a year away from being able to drive so it should stop me being d***head driver and more understanding towards road users when I drive on the roads👍
Good Afternoon Bus Driver Taylor, I just wanted to drop a quick comment to say I’ve been watching your videos for about 3 months now and I’m currently studying for my Mock Exams to be a bus driver in London and your videos have been sooooooooooo informative that I honestly feel like I’m already a bus driver. When i do become qualified i won’t forget all the help I had from you and you didn’t even know it lol Keep the videos coming as they are honestly great and I hope to also VLOG one day. Inspired bro 😎
@Zen Dog you should be provided with a link to all the material once you have passed the interview process etc....however you should be able to source the below via Amazon etc... Driving theory for All, this includes the study material and hazard perception.
Saw you again earlier today mate. I was at the Woolwich Road / Charlton Lane stop after school. Was gonna get on your 177 but too many people had that same idea so got the 161. Take care mate
Buses are only slow in urban areas where stops are frequent and traffic lights are in abundance such as Central London or Manchester; go to the countryside and ride an interurban bus through rural roads and they tend to be a LOT faster
It doesn't help when a bus behind you tries to get round you when there are temporary lights right in front. He went round me and I had to bib my horn at him to stop because it was a red light. He was now blocking the road, if there was another bus coming the other way, the road would have been completely blocked.
Unfortunately you’re going to get idiot drivers everywhere from cyclists all the way up to lorry drivers it’s unfortunate but there’s nothing that can be done about it some people just don’t care about others
Taylor, buses are not slow at all, if you get the right time of day/right driver, there is some awsome drivers out there, and infact even in the bus world, there is such a thing as fast bus and slow buses, at PD, you have E400 H Enviro Hybrid which go like a rocket and can beat cars off the lights, then you get the bog standard E400 which is so slow and takes an age to get going. Your a new driver so probably don't remember the old buses, PD used to have over 165 ALX400 TA buses, proper buses, they were quick. Me personally I cant stand slow bus drivers at 20mph.
I know buses aren't slow I drive them for a living it's a question I get asked a lot so I thought I'd answer it and yes I remember the ALX 400s who doesn't remember them
@@TaylorStraub They were wicked mate, PD had at one point over 165 of them, some better then others of course, PD also had the bendy buses on route 453, are you like proper into your buses or just a job?.
I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with the service we provide you are more than welcome to use another form of transport if you are unhappy with the bus service in your area. Many thanks for your comment.
@@TaylorStraub well this problem only happens in the UK. If you’re running too early for instance, please be kind enough to inform your passengers to give them options before jumping on your bus because you guys do not refund us once we get on the bus.
How fast are buses ? Not too fast but if you take them out of eco mode helps allot and if you don't have an absolute loon driving the bus like you see in this video it's an Enviro 400 just like the one your on there matey and this is how he has the god dam thing shifting I Don't know how he managed it truth be told ! Buses just aren't meant to be driven fast most of them are speed limited yes it is satisfying to drive at high speeds in a bus but it's too dangerous in my opinion purely because of the stopping distance needed when travelling at high speeds
@@TaylorStraub 100% Agree though the few that we have that don't have as the drivers here call it eco no speed they will give it a bit of a thrash but never when it's not safe to do so unlike the example seen in this video ! I Can only imagine what the buses passing him were thinking I Seen at least 1 flashing him so they must have wondered wtf was going on for sure...

My local, the 38 has a PVR of 60 yet the fastest drivers😂, how was the 96 and 122?
The 96 is great I didn't get to do the 122 as they swapped it for a 96 duty last minute
@@TaylorStraub That's not a bad thing, you don't like the 122s
That’s alright then, two days on your favourite route
Can you try upload a bit more we love your videos very entertaining
Would you have gone that slow if there wasn't a bus lane 🤔
i have had 70 mph out of a 6cyl e200 on a country road downhill in cornwall
Yeah you would get that in the country not in London
Fantastic UA-camr.
Thank you for your kind words!
