I pay for Disney Plus. I haven't even looked at the description for The Acolyte there. I have no interest in The Acolyte. My disinterest was spawned entirely by the "THIS IS THE GAYEST STAR WARS EVER" interview that the director and main actress had. I didn't need to hear from hate watchers to know how bad the show was going to be.
They are measuring the watch minutes of the actual show to determine if it gets renewed or not. Now with D+ most of their stuff is the same agenda driven crap regardless of the franchise, so it does make sense to stop wasting your money on it. With Netflix or others, the garbage is not so universal and unsubbing for a the occasional bad show is not as clear cut.
Good thing then, that it's easy to watch something without having to do that.

I wouldn't mind if people started promoting the movies and shows that we should watch. You know, I don't only want to know where not to spend my time and money; I also want to know where to spend my time and money.
First off, how can we know what we hate if we don't watch it first? Trust people you don't know to decide what you watch for you? No thanks. At some point you have to do your own research and give things a chance with an open mind. Secondly, it IS productive. The goal is always objective critique. Everything else is secondary. We need to recognize the bad before we can appreciate the good. Go watch EFAP sometime to see how it's done in very long form. Calling it "hate" is silly.

Man I hated seeing Osha forced to live in the cupboard under the stairs. But when a space wizard came and took her to superhero school, where she learned how to modify the spaceship from Mr T, I knew this series was a keeper.
Bit disappointed she didn’t outbox Rocky but I guess it’s only ep3. Plenty of time to find the reactor to the Batcave and convince the Matrix to let the Jedi live.
I don't watch the shows but I watch reviews as a lesson on what not to do when writing.
Yeah I was gonna say I pretty much fully consume Star Wars and marvel content through reviewers now. Not always the best way I know but when the very premises of the shows or movies are bad I don’t need the details myself.

All sorts of folks try to prevent that of course, and we do try to support good shows to the max. But mainstream is as mainstream does. Most still think the government (ie civil service) works for them and police are their to help them.
If they close down the options we just go elsewhere. get old shows. read fanfics. watch streamers. even -gasp- touch the grass. And that is why their society is collapsing - the models built on pure shite don't work without eyes and buyers. Many people are too apathetic to watch Disney Star Wars content but are willing to watch UA-cam channels.

I decided to go one step further, I cancelled my Disney subscription.
20 reactors giving us the run-down is more preferrable to millions accidently "hate-watching" and making it successful which means they all will be responsible for them making more and more and going even further into dumbassery.
Disney+ has never made a profit. You won't have to worry about making anything shown there accidentally successful off hate views ever. lmfao
There are many channels that don't simply complain or joke about how bad something is...they go into detail about why it is bad. Explaining why something is trash cannot be argued against in any meaningful way. Such channels are required, as hopefully they will at some point generate sufficient influence to bring about change. Trash films and TV shows have to be called out, along with those who are responsible for them. It's a public duty. Knights Watch is obviously one of those channels.
Here's an example of something LITERALLY NOBODY talked about: The Apple adaptation of Isaac Asimov's "Foundation".
I grew up reading the Foundation books in the 1980s. It is one of my all-time favorites in the classic "hard" sci-fi literature genre.
Amazon did a MASTERFUL job of BAIT-AND-SWITCH. The very first episode is an adequate compression of Prelude to Foundation and Foundation chapter 1, but with two SERIOUSLY DISASTROUS changes: (a) they gender-swap an important main character into a tiresome "girl who is the key to everything", and then (b) have her MURDER the main character. The guy we're all supposed to care about.
Secondarily: they also gender-swap Demerzel the ageless robot, manufacture a ham-fisted sexual relationship between this new girl who is the key to everything and the main character's adopted son, invent a sub-plot involving space terrorists who blow up the space elevator on the home planet of the empire, and turn the exile journey into a floating soap opera complete with relationship dramas, abortion debates, and other stupid "ripped from the headlines" horse poop.
I gave up completely after 3 episodes. The production quality is very high, but the entire show was nothing more than a vanity power play. They will stop at nothing to vandalize EVERYTHING THAT CAME BEFORE THEM. Everything.
Wait, wasn't that Apple, not Amazon? I've hardly ever heard anyone talk about anything on Apple's streaming service.
It's a huge shame, though. I enjoy the books.

Should have stopped hate watching after the force awakens, but the casuals can’t break their addiction for nostalgia.
I'm guilty of that. I watched all the movies in the theatre, but even after the The Force Awakens disaster, I kept hoping it would get better. The only one I can recommend is Rogue One. The problem is we collectively gave Disney billions of dollars, thus encouraging them to start putting out a series of even worse TV shows, though I did enjoy Mando season one but stopped after that.

@@AncestorEmpire1 I still didn't like The Force Awakens since it was just "can I copy your homework" for A New Hope, but I still had interest in giving Star Wars media a shot until the last episode of Boba Fett. 30 minutes in to episode 8 is when I gave up on the Star Wars movies then episode 6 of Boba Fett is when I gave up on all Star Wars.
I hear a lot about how good Andor is, but I don't care anymore. I can't be bothered. The story is too far gone to be salvaged.

Wheel of Time is my hate-watch. Because I've read the books and watch it with a friend who hasn't so I can rant to her about everything the show gets wrong. Which is a lot.

I never hate watch anything since I'm not getting paid to do so. I do love joining in on the massive wave of mockery of all this stuff in a number of different channels because it's cathartic to mock the freaks who are ruining things. A reviewer has to watch it if they are going to review it though. You can sail the high seas or you can pay for a subscription to watch it because it's part of your job. If people are upset about that just point out the fact that you are deterring far more people from watching it so a couple of memberships don't really make the difference.
The whole reason I watch channels like yours is so that I can know what's going on in the show, without rewarding Disney with a watch/subscribe 😊

Fun and interesting video conversation... I think the real apathy, and moment where it will really "die" as people guess for it's future... You really will not see that till after the end... The hate watching for this show, while it will artificially boost viewer numbers, as the discussion stays a hot topic... You also need to take into account the curious viewers... Peeps who would never have watched it at all, if it were not for such a bitter back and forth between Disney, Access Media News, and the general public majority dislike... Those peeps will now watch it, just to see what this is all about... That will also boost viewership, at least in these early days... Issue for Disney, is that while it feeds them firewood for their viewership numbers, it's still burning... But now even more people are seeing what is going on, and either chiming in, or moving on and may never return, even for a good show... Disney is dashing to try and put out the fire, playing the blame game, telling lies, and even being toxic themselves in their deflecting of what's happening... Are there some toxic folks out there saying some really hateful stuff? Sure, but instead of Disney acting like an adult, they are being just as toxic in their rebuttal... Again, marring their reputation even further...

I gave up on Star Wars after episode 7, it astounds me people "hate-watch" something that is made to spite them and insult them. I suppose masochism is a thing, but didn't realize it was THIS prevalent. To me, at least, it makes more sense that they are simply lying about the numbers and that the majority of those watching are literal bots they are getting these numbers from.
It's not prevalent. That's manufactured buzz. The hate watchers want you to think there's some grand mass of hate watchers, alerting us all to the evils of whatever show or movie catches their ire. In reality, there's millions and millions of people who just don't care, like you and I, who never even watch a hate watch reaction clip.
Also, no, the companies aren't using bots. Investors and advertisers are willing to sue companies into the f***ing ground if they think bots are artificially inflating numbers.

While I agree that Disney Star Wars has proven that it doesn’t deserve our attention, criticism of it is still worth while (and praise, to be fair, if it ever did anything worthy of it - I’m looking at you Andor). What people should be doing, rather, is ending their D+ subscriptions and telling Disney exactly why. That’s a message they can’t help but pay attention to.

I really don't believe people "hate watch" in any significant number. I think when people chastise others for hate watching, they're really complaining about people watching reviews and analysis. They believe that engaging with the bad media in any way gives fuel to the bad media and perpetuates it. I don't actually think that's the case.

I stopped watching modern Disney after Kenobi, but I wish I stopped long before that. I only watch Disney Star Wars through you, Drinker, Nerdrotic and EFAP, cuz you guys actually make it a fun, entertaining experience. It’s obvious that Disney only wants middle aged lesbians consuming their content anyway, so it’s a win-win I guess.

For some programs (specifically thinking Amazon, so Wheel of Prime and Rings of Prime) the shows are signed up with an original multi-year contract. These shows are not “surviving” because hate-watches are giving these shows the illusion of success. These shows were always going to reach season 3, because it was in a legal contract.

I don't hate watch shows but to each their own especially if you're a UA-camr that reviews it honestly. If a channel like Nerdrotic or Drinker with 1M+ subs convinces even 1% of their audience not to watch this crap that's 10,000+ people not tuning in or even outright cancelling whatever streaming service.
I've never believed the "any engagement is good engagement" mentality, if it was they wouldn't keep calling us istaphobes & trying to dismiss our opinions or criticisms, they'd just ignore us. They hate us because we're effective, it helps make the masses aware, look how something like Panderverse affected normie perception. Negative engagement takes time but it does have a negative impact long term. I'll say this - if you really want to hate watch something, wether it is The Acolyte or anything else, don't do it legally. Don't use official streaming platforms, because then it doesn't matter what your intentions are. You are paying to watch it, so you're willingly giving the money to the people you're rooting to fail. So don't pay them, it's super easy yet people still don't realise it.
Midnights edge did a vid' covering that even torrent pirate channel aren't even bothering so much with this show as it's that bad! You still can of course, just not as prolifically.✌
