I was a new Christian, recently baptized into Christ, in a swimming pool at 1:00 ini the morning by a guy from work who was studying to be a minister - Jeff Chase. He asked me the million dollar question, "You want to receive the Holy Spirit, don't you?" I shouted, "YES!" I started attending a local church of Christ where I heard this hymn for the first time. 4-part harmony is BEAUTIFUL and I fell in love with that church, the minister and the brethren. My new little girlfriend sang Alto and I remember listening to her sing. She was so good. I'd bring a cassette tape recorder to services and record the singing. At home, I'd listen to them over and over. I went to the Areawide Singings every chance I got and I learned to sing bass. I learned to read the shaped notes. _I Need Thee Every Hour_ is probably my favorite hymn. Oh wait, _The Old Rugged Cross._ No, _Great Is Thy Faithfulness._
What a blessing from such a dark time in world history. And the echoes continue to resound down through the years. Thank you for this. #everyhourineedthee

I understand that sometimes "simple is better"...but why is that harmony so simple if you have literally 10 people singing and a lot of potential in that song?
