I’ve been looking at your rig , and it appear to me you have the line kicking away from the point of the hook , as a carp angler i alway want the line exiting the back of the hook , so that when the fish turns its head the line pulls the point into the lip , can I suggest you watch Matthew Collins , hair rig videos , he gives some simple examples of the does and don’ts . Tight lines .

Hair rigs are pointless just cover the entire hook with corn all the way to the point of the hook. Toss a handful of corn and throw hook into chum pile. They will hook themselves.

      @@covidisevent201@covidisevent201 'Hair rigs are pointless'...
Yup, ..but the hook point isn't pointless 😁.
..And that hookpoint, including the whole of the hook bend is entirely free to penetrate the fish lip when using a hair where the bait is put on.
Furthermore, using your hook with nylon line coming from the inner side of the hook eye - or using a lign aliner with braided line! - you'll hook fish in the bottom lip when using a bottom lead and a rig up to 25cm's.
And yes, on easy waters a big hook with maïs on it may hook a fish, but the hooking ratio is defenitly way lower than in situations using a hair rig (or D-rig) and a line aligner of any kind so underwater video's show.

@@meanmr.mustardthey are pointless there expert. I'll catch just as money without it. Been fishing for carp for a long ass time dont need some clown telling me I'm wrong when I've tried them all and a simple single hook works just as effectively as a hair rig.

Match the hatch seems to be the answer. The carp only eat the odd bait by accident or after they clear the most common bait. That is what I learned from your videos.

Here in Australia Carp are a menace. We fish them out to destroy them. The easiest way is a running sinker with a long leader, a gama shiner hook with 4 or so corn kernels. I catch 20 or so in a couple of hours.

      You can catch that many!
      That's amazing.
It's unfortunate that they need to be eradicated, but each country has its own regulations, so it can't be helped.
It would be nice if there were a way that didn't involve eradication.

Take a can of cream corn poke some holes in it tie it to a string and toss it out by your chum pile then use corn for chum and use a corn covering the entire hook or a worm both work. Hook like you have it sinker up 8 to 10 inches from the hook. Give them a little room to pick it up before they feel the sinker. They will hook themselves pretty much everytime.

I fish for carp for 35 years now, seen much of the rise and development of carp fishing and modern techniques, ..and in the way you tied the hook to the line I was TOTALLY surprised you hooked any fish at all 😁.
Try googling what the 'line alinger' effect is, ..and you'll see you're tying your line completely opposite to that extreme functional idea 😉.
    Nice underwater footage though 👍.

'The line aligner effect,' you say? I'll look into it.
So, my difficulty in catching fish might be due to how I tie my hook!

      @@extremefishcrossing No problem.
When using nylon line for the rig try using the 'no-knot' method of tying you hook, being careful (!!!) the line must come out of the hook eye at the hook point side. So inwards. Even if you still like a couple of sweetcorn particles on your hook and not on a hair this knotless knot is really usable.
Furtgermore when using nylon line for your rig, don't use hooks with in turned eyes - meaning towards the hook point. You can use a straight eye, but only if the hook shaft/shank is not to short. Because with a short shank model there might not enough room left between the nylon line and the hookpoint to grip flesh. Better use a 'Chod/Choddy' model hook with a bit outward bended hook eye and a straight hook point when using a nylon rig.
When using a braided rig (there's stripable coated braided material aswel) just use some krimp tubing and steam it to create a line aligner or buy them pre made. But still always be sure the line comes out on the hook point side of the eye and check the hooking functionality of your rig on the palm of your hand after you made one. Because the hook must flip over gripping flesh like it should do on the bottom lip of the fish.
..It's all to be found on you tube 😉. Have a good one.

You're absolutely making the wrong assumpsions!
Spitting boilies out is no problem. Did you see how many boilies the fish had eaten before they went out again?! Hooking a carp with a decent self hooking rig on the way IN is the idea, ..and this carp had taken a lot of boilies in!
So who cares a carp spits bait out?! In other situations I've also seen fish regurgitate magots and even corn.
Fishing (sweet) corn is good for (margin) fishing during daytime, but an absolute nightmare for night fishing with a lot of bream, roach and whatever small fish in the swim - especially after multiple nights it wears you down. Don't even talk about distance fishing out of casting and spombing/spodding range. Don't want to go out with a boat to put a corn baited rig out and again hooking a bream after 10 minutes...
Furthermore (home made) boilies can be (made) way more selective in hardness, size and ingredients. I can create a boilie that may lay pre baited waiting for days for carp that just aren't around at that time on large waters. I can make boilies which may compete with natural foods on the long run, thus carp will really keep focusing on and keep on eating. None of that is the case with corn. In fact you can really overkill - in more than one way - with a not really nutrient, shiny yellow bait like corn...
But man, ..do I love some (sweet) corn for instant fishing.
