I can see the comparison, but they really feel and play differently. With the lack of real time and dice rolling to determin what you do this is a much more strategic affair.
Looks like a mix of Forbidden Island and Betrayal at House on the Hill (without the actual betraying). Seems pretty interesting, I may consider backing it. :)
