It’s incredible to think that AMC really brought us into the modern era of crossovers with the Eagle and especially the jeep Cherokee.

Is it true some workers sabotaged the cars in that plant?
@Conor I worked at a Dealer not the plant.
I've owned many AMC's over the years, from a factory V/8 Pacer, AMX's and Javelin, best of all two S/C Ramblers. Every one of the AMC/Rambler cars are fun to drive, less expensive than most others, and best of all, and unlike a camaro" when going to cruise nights you're likely to be the only one there.
My first car was a 1969 Rambler American. I've also owned a '68 AMX with a 390 engine, a '69 Javelin, and a '71 Matador. I loved the power and handling of the AMX, it's my favorite of all the vehicles I've had over the years-but I must say my 2010 MX-5 is a blast to drive.
I’m still hoping to buy up a sweet 81-83 spirit. I missed out on a pristine DL model recently. It’s also a dream of mine to have a Rambler Classic 770 coupe as a daily driver. They’re just such perfect looking cars.
my dad worked at amc 10 years in engineering then 20 in production he started in 1968 and was there through chrysler's takeover in 1988 retired as a superintendent then went to work for gm setting up the gmt 800 line in detroit
I have a 1987 Jeep Cherokee that was the very last from AMC, overall though for a dying company my jeep has held up well with over 320,000mi

A real dream. The big 3 need a proper American competitor again. Tesla focuses solely on higher end electrics, so they aren't really a direct competitor, and no other company has been as successful as they were

Great Video. I bought a 1973 Javelin with a '69 390 in it and drove that around for a couple of years until someone ran a red light and squished it. About 10 years later I bought a '69 javelin with the 343. Low miles, great condition, green. Had to sell it when I was going through hardship (it was my daily) and it needed a new camshaft. Great video, Thank you. Been an AMC fan since 1968 when I bought a new 1968 AMX. 343 with Go Pac. In 1973 I ordered a new Javelin AMX, 401 Go Pac, 4 speed. In 1975 I finally bought a 1969 SC Hurst Rambler, what an absolute attention getter it was in the day. Today I still own the Javelin AMX, as it sits in the garage. It is as an attention getter as well today, as one just doesn't see these or any AMC cars anymore. The Javelin AMX has been warmed over some with the addition of the 1970 AMC Rebel Machine intake and a larger Carter performance Carburetor. Other than that, the Javelin AMX is still all original, down to the factory Rally Wheels. So sad that AMC didn't last longer. When Chrysler bought out AMC in 1987, by 1989 they had completely demolished the whole Kenosha assembly plant. They didn't even give anybody the chance to salvage any of the factory parts, some dating all the way back to the 60's. Or save company literature and paperwork, they completely destroyed, and erased American Motors from the face of the earth.
Don't forget the Levi's edition AMCs. The seats were upholstered with Levi's denim!
The Levi editions didn't actually have denim, it was a denim "look alike". They couldn't put actual denim in cars due to the flammability.
