WOW, this Z06 is a BEAST !!!! Nice review Kevin ! If i was ready to buy my Corvette, this would definitely be in the running against the C7 Stingray with 7 speed manual ! I’m about 4 years away until retirement and around the time when I’ll be ready to get a Corvette. For $28k this would be an absolute bargain !! Ive had a few black cars and obviously it is the hardest to keep clean, but i would overlook that if i had the chance to get this one... Believe it or not Mike (Brink of Speed) suggested to me about a month ago to NOT go for a C6 (base model) and go for the C7 Stingray... I agree, i think the C7 Stingray has a better designed interior with much better interior quality craftsmanship. But if i have the opportunity to get this Z06, it would be TOUGH comparison to a C7 Stingray... Currently a 2016 C7 Stingray with about same 50k miles is going for about mid 30k... so does the $7k difference justify a 2016 C7 Stingray over this one ? MMmmmm. I dont have to make that decision but it would be fun if i had too. TBH, I probably would go for this Z06 if had to decide today. Keep your reviews coming. by the way, what is your full time job ? Seams to me your UA-cam channel is a passionate thing that you do as a hobby ?
Yea he's not wrong the C7 still is the superior vehicle no doubt but I have to admit the connection you feel to older cars is next level. I still think a stingray with a stick would be amazing for street driving with the skinnier wheels. Yea this is definitely a passion project for me but I definitely want to do this full time as I take these car reviews very seriously. I have a black 08 C6Z with the tinted windows much like this car, but with C7Z wheels. While I have more exotic and faster cars, this car is still one of my favorite cars I've owned. The raw, analog, yet exotic feel/looks can't be beat for what I paid for it many years ago. Prices on them have gone up, but this is one car I think actually should be selling for more than it was selling for. Even at today's prices, it's still a bargain for what it is. This car was prowling the streets back in 2005, it still looks amazing (thanks to GM trying to make it look more like a Viper), and it's still a force to be reckoned with all these years later. Not to mention doing the heads, cam, and intake will add almost 200 hp... naturally aspirated. Let that sink in, a 700 hp NA car that weighs 3100 lbs, with sharp looks, excellent brakes and handling, all for under $50k. This car will always be a legend...

I've told myself maybe I'll get a C7 or maybe a C8. All though I have found the C6 is so roomy and comfortable on long rides, a great daily car too! Massive congrats and yes value is untouched. I love all the American performance rides but the Vette really is special its a dedicated sports car chassis and so far C6 Z06 has been the most fun enjoy my friend
I have a 09 c6z. I thought ide sell it after about 2 years but there's no way and I'm going on my 5th year of ownership. Just amazing car, the 7 liter engine is something else. The timeless design is just beautiful. It just looks so low, so wide, so aggressive. Light weight and very powerful = lots and lots of fun.
Trying to decide between this or the Camaro. I’d way rather this car for speed purposes, but the 2020 Camaros are cheaper and have way better technology/better interiors and they’re still pretty damn fast. Tough decision
The C6 is the last of the big cubic inch engines I’m not selling mine, these cars will go up greatly in value in the future just like the big block cars of the 60’s and 70’s.
24 Years old and owner of a low mile 06 z06. The car is a dream, my car is mildly built to 600 crank horsepower, 510 wheel. They're beautiful and everything's fluid ecspecially the shifting. At 3100 lbs, the car handles like it's in rails! 505 horsepower is alot, 505 horsepower on a 3000lb car is a force to reckon with. The remarkably engineered, the only downfall is the ls7 engine which is a ticking time bomb with the valve drop issue.. But if you have a z06 you don't wanna keep that bad boy stock anyways, so just get new heads and add more excitement to the car. I couldn't ask for a better car!
That is incredible my friend heck of a ride and 24. It truly is as good as you say an engineering masterpiece to be so light and have so much power. I honestly preferred driving this to the new C8
I just bought an '06 Z (21K miles) a couple weeks ago; stock with CAI. And then I read about the valve guide/valve drop issue. Wasn't happy at first, but after concluding the only solution was to change the heads, now I'm excited. I'll be having West Coast CNC heads, a bigger cam, and headers installed within the next few days. The shop that's doing it says I can expect about 570 whp. Wouldn't have thought I'd be seriously modding it two weeks ago when I bought it, but agreed...as exciting as it is now, it'll only make it that much more exciting to drive. And the peace of mind that the possibility of catastrophic engine damage could occur at any moment is eliminated, is invaluable.
That Exhaust note is divine. Gotta hand it to GM, may not be built with quality, but they sure can make it sound good. ~ good review. loved 4k filming. keep on keeping on!
Chief not sure what you mean not built with quality but I’ve owned 8 Corvettes over 40 plus years, every generation but a C1, and there was a quality issues in the 1970’s and 80’s but any Corvette in the 2000’s don’t have many problems. I race a C5 Z06 with 120K miles and beat on it like a red headed step child and it takes it all day long.
This car is one bad ass car. I have the Ron Fellows edition and absolutely the best car I have ever owned. I actually traded my c7 to go back down to a c6 and don’t regret it one bit!
Wow that is incredible yea you def made an excellent choice and you know what, I just drove the C8 corvette, hated it, I prefer this and the C7 to the new C8 as crazy as that sounds to most people. Something about the older vettes far more fun and connected
Exhaust Sports Auto Thanks brother. I just can’t wait. I was sitting in one the other day and I was so inspired. Came from mustangs but now I feel like I’m with the corvettes
Yea I don't think you can go wrong with any of the American performance cars but the vettes are special. Also looking into the none Z06 regular C6 is still amazing im sure with 400 hp and a manual could get one in the lower 20k range best of luck!
Yeap the C6 is definitely one of the best looking Vettes. It still gets a lot of attention. If I was in the market you definitely made a compelling argument for it
I've got a 2018 ss 1le h/c, fbo, on e85 or 93, lth x pipe, mbrp, while I love my car the c6 z06 is my favorite car and actually looking to buy one. You've done a great review here. 👏

Yeah that mpg from all that low end torque and only weighing 3100 pounds. Amazing vehicle i dont think gets enough attention. Also rocking a dry sump oil system
I bought my wife a '06 C6 two weeks ago. 37,000 mile car from the original owner. 3300 lbs, 400 HP. She kept saying...... PINCH ME, PINCH ME....IM DREAMING.
The road noise is from the fact that G.M. fitted virtually no sound deadening materials in order to cut down on weight and as you said, wide rubber,it's worth reading about the extremes they went to in order to cut kerb weight.

Crazy they had that car for sale for 28k two years ago. Today that same car with the same mileage is worth 40k. Who ever bought that car made a great choice.
It’s crazy, actually I wanted to buy this car but didn’t have $28k at the time 😅 someone from Virginia drive down and bought it the next day after I filmed this vid
Great review Kevin. Your words in this video are prophetic, because as of 2022, I just read that GM has decided to end production of the Z06. I believe the entire Corvette lineage is in jeopardy. Reasons?: Poor sales and high price point. Plus, cost of production is sky high, all of which equals loss of revenue, Ravi Peiris M.D.
Thanks so much my friend I'm humbled by that and yes I would love to try those vehicles. I know I can get access to a CTSV coupe but hopefully in the future I can. Do those cars you mentioned
Haha yea idk why that was there and yes aggressive city driving for a big V8 that is pretty realistic but not terrible like a hellcat getting 9 mpg city lol
Mine will get 28mpg at 80mph on the highway with the ac on. Around town it'll do 20mpg but you have to stay out of the power which is impossible to do.
I've always been impressed with GMs ability to get amazing cruising mpg out of the LS engines. A 16 valve pushrod v8 with 427CI of displacement able to squeeze 28mpg on the highway is very impressive.
I’ve heard that LS7s can have valve guide issues that can end up blowing up your motor, and that even preventative maintenance by replacing the parts only stalls the problem (it can come back). Can owners here confirm this?
No your good. They believe the heads where machined wrong but It was like 500 cars in the first year and most cars where recalled. But if you where really worried just do the heads and your Gucci. But to be honest 08 and up you have nothing to worry about.
@John John I am aware of the problem. My car was allready checked and will be in a couple of months again. Then arround 130.000 km and no issue. Maintanance is done by a treu specialist on Vette's.
You said the C6 Z06 with a stick is the one you want... But that all they made then. The Z06 did not come with an automatic transmission option until the C7. Before that they were all manuel transmission. Which is only C5 and C6.
Yea people were right...need to explain everything to a T on the internet. I guess I can't blame you, You're not a mind reader. I was referring to how manuals are dying and highlighting this Vette is a stick but vette freaks took that as their golden opportunity to show off their knowledge and try and make me look like I didn't know that these only came in a manual.
Yes looks are amazing with this thing for sure haha. I'm with you I never cared for the trans am.growing up I doubt many did but I guess it just looks cool today due to all these cookie cutter cars. C6 has a good look I agree especially for 05. I want to review a holden lol
Excellent review. Had a C6 with a slightly built motor, Z51, came really close to the performance of that Z06. Gave it up for a 2019 Grand Sport, better tech, interior, mag ride gives PTM with e diff but....I'll go back to a late gen C6, you feel way more connected to the car. That car has heated seats which should make it a 3LZ.
Hey thanks so much David for stopping by my friend. That's awesome that you owned both C6 and C7 I def don't think you went wrong with the C7 tho its one of the greatest driving cars and most capable sports car chassis I think I would enjoy it more with a stick. Nice to know this review car is a top specs 3lz thanks for pointing that out as well
@@MeynMotorGroup Thanks for the reply, my GS has the 7 speed manual, took it for a great run on my favorite mountain road, yesterday. I'll be at a Track Attack event Friday.
dylan_mx_bmx bro these cars come really low stock but you can adjust the suspension yourself and there’s a thing behind the seats that prevents them from reclining
The horse power to weight ratio is the best in the market for the price range for stock. Def a sweet ride only issue is they still pricey it hold its value
I'll have to check my neighbors Corvette Im not sure what yr I'd assume mid 2000's but super clean black and beautiful paint I'll try to find more about it maybe I can buy it from her
To be fair the c6 and c7 have an almost identical chassis, so does the c5. Just minor revisions. The ride quality is mostly in dampening and the differences on the skid pad are mostly caused by the factory tires that were optioned over the years, obviously tires have gotten quite a bit better.
@@Kauffman578 not on a z06 no, on a regular c6 you could probably get away with a square setup. Z06 is 285 front and 325 rear for tires. 18x9.5 front wheels and 19x12 rear wheels, it's what makes the car look like it's going 100mph sitting still. The grip is amazing for how much power is there. Straight line stability is crazy for 505hp.
@@MeynMotorGroup a big block is a big block, the ls7 is a 427 cubic inch small block. A 427 in '67 Vette for example is a big block. Just different generations of motors. The ls7 is basically a big block sized piston in a small block. The ls7 cylinder sleeves are so big that they actually touch each other.

That’s a good price I can agree with. There’s two postings people with the same mileage asking 41Gs
You stole it for under $30K.
This guy did a good job with this video. Thank you sir for making this
Humbled by that thank you my friend!
Can not beat the power to weight ratio.... preferred track car still to this day killing them all still
Trying to decide between this or the Camaro. I’d way rather this car for speed purposes, but the 2020 Camaros are cheaper and have way better technology/better interiors and they’re still pretty damn fast. Tough decision
@@donaldbalboa7690 C6Z 100% over the Camaro.
Not sure if you've had the heads done yet. Please treat your LS7 to a long life, and get valve guides upgraded.
And the peace of mind that the possibility of catastrophic engine damage could occur at any moment is eliminated, is invaluable.
iTzTWINSiTz yeah that was fixed in 2008

That Exhaust note is divine. Gotta hand it to GM, may not be built with quality, but they sure can make it sound good. ~ good review. loved 4k filming. keep on keeping on!
Haha yes sir I def agree with that and thank you amazing viewers like you and your undying support make all this worthwhile
Something about the older vettes far more fun and connected
i want this
You can def have this my friend very obtainable
Exhaust Sports Auto Thanks brother. I just can’t wait. I was sitting in one the other day and I was so inspired. Came from mustangs but now I feel like I’m with the corvettes
Yea I don't think you can go wrong with any of the American performance cars but the vettes are special. Also looking into the none Z06 regular C6 is still amazing im sure with 400 hp and a manual could get one in the lower 20k range best of luck!
Amazing cars! LOVE my 2008 C6 Z06! 😎

Heads / Cam / Intake / Full Exhaust / Full Fuel System / Thermostat / Clutch / Short Throw Shiter / 15 inche Wheel conversion in the rear with Mickeys plus a few little supporting mods that I didn't mention with a tune and it is a super car killer but you should feed it E with Meth.
Great review man. You tackled many issues that people have, but you took a real review of if they’re really a problem with this car.
Good review. I agree with you. These cars are great.
Yeah that mpg from all that low end torque and only weighing 3100 pounds. Amazing vehicle i dont think gets enough attention. Also rocking a dry sump oil system
This car is amazing for many reasons for sure
I bought my wife a '06 C6 two weeks ago. 37,000 mile car from the original owner. 3300 lbs, 400 HP. She kept saying......
PINCH ME, PINCH ME....IM DREAMING.
The road noise is from the fact that G.M. fitted virtually no sound deadening materials in order to cut down on weight and as you said, wide rubber,it's worth reading about the extremes they went to in order to cut kerb weight.
Mine is an Atomic Orange 2007 with just a touch over 20,000 miles. It’s an awesome beast!

Great review Kevin. Your words in this video are prophetic, because as of 2022, I just read that GM has decided to end production of the Z06. I believe the entire Corvette lineage is in jeopardy. Reasons?: Poor sales and high price point. Plus, cost of production is sky high, all of which equals loss of revenue,

28k? Try 48k
The ZO6 is the king of burnouts! It'll smoke the tires in 1st, 2nd and 3rd the distance of a football field (300 ft.)!
Salute
It might be your clutch or dried up tires.
Lose the front plate holder, jeez, also my 2013 gets AVG 14 mpg combined so it ain't no Prius. Good vid. Froggy+
@@bsfunk44 Impossible to not floor it yep.
:)
I agree, 28 highway, 20 city, 6 road course.
I've always been impressed with GMs ability to get amazing cruising mpg out of the LS engines. A 16 valve pushrod v8 with 427CI of displacement able to squeeze 28mpg on the highway is very impressive.
You are 💯 correct .
Who needs a stereo with the symphony under the hood?
....I love my 2020 Corvette stingray spider with 3LT Z-51 package 🔥 content coming to our channel with this car build
Great review my friend. Looks fun to drive!

Your thoughts about the C7 are not silly at all! I'll bet plenty of people agree with you!
Great review.
Thank you my friend!
Looks wwwaaayyy better than that red Trans Am IMHO!
Yes looks are amazing with this thing for sure haha. I'm with you I never cared for the trans am.growing up I doubt many did but I guess it just looks cool today due to all these cookie cutter cars.

@@MeynMotorGroup Thanks for the reply, my GS has the 7 speed manual, took it for a great run on my favorite mountain road, yesterday. I'll be at a Track Attack event Friday.
My 2lz has heated seats, too
My question is, how far do the seats recline back? Also was this car lowered at all?
dylan_mx_bmx bro these cars come really low stock but you can adjust the suspension yourself and there’s a thing behind the seats that prevents them from reclining
Hey Dude... Love the exterior of the C6, maybe even more than the C7... Z06 or Grand Sport ? Which one would you choose for street use ?
I guess for street use a C7 Stingray is really good but I found the C6 Z06 to be a ton of fun. C7 will be more refined
Exhaust Sports Auto thanks !
Stephen DiBari The Grande Sport is essentially the base model c6 with the wider ZO6 body.
Knowing what I know now, I'd go for the Grand Sport. You can get the heads fixed on the LS7 and it still could blow up.

the best for the price nothing supercar can do performance like that. 50k and you have a great supercar can beat mostly of overpriced of them ;)
I love my c6z! So much fun. You kinda sound like Subaru wrx guy but I like your UA-cam better.
Haha thank you so much my friend and awesome ride you have
Heard the intake and exhaust valve sucks?
The horse power to weight ratio is the best in the market for the price range for stock. Def a sweet ride only issue is they still pricey it hold its value
Correct it is an amazing performance achievement and thus will hold value like crazy but I think a regular C6 with a stick can also be fun!
Yes that is correct C7 has been very similar to the C5
I want one! But I need to build a garage first.
Do they run on run flat tires and is it two different pair of wheels front and back?
Michelin pilot super sport summer tires all 4 corners
Front wheels are 18x9.5 and rear wheels are 19x12 but same design
@@bsfunk44 so no way to have all the same tire for the four, then? I am just not a flat tire guy
Well done!
Appreciate it my friend thanks for stopping by!
They should still be producing the C6 today! The C7 not nearly as good looking! And the C8, no manual available? No, thank you!
One more thing it is a small block 427. Not a big block.
Yea I kind of figured that layer but man what the heck is a big block then, a 14 liter engine 😆
@@MeynMotorGroup a big block is a big block, the ls7 is a 427 cubic inch small block. A 427 in '67 Vette for example is a big block. Just different generations of motors.
