I had the great honour to play this as solo oboe with the McGill Universiy Wind Symphony in 1992(or 3) as part of a Nordic festival. Absolutely splendid piece. This ensemble is playing it about as well as it can be played. Brass choirs have this amazing ability to sound like a single instrument while still being able to let each voice shine out.
I asked the organist at the church to play this at my fathers funeral while we carried his coffin out of the church. Great arrangement and great play , Thank You...
It is often played on funerals and is usually the best part of the ceremony. This piece (not this recording) caught my attention at a friends funeral. 33 years. Stroke. I picked it and had it played for my mothers funeral 4 years later.
Beautiful !!! Brass will always bring the beauty of the original when you think that this was an from an cattle herder that wrote it. There is no limit to human talent well done guys!!
A Beautiful renditon, I play cornet and keyboard "Gammalfabods psalm" is one of the greates unknown compositions coming from the old cattleherders from Sweden You all did an exceptional version of this unbelievable beautiful song, Keep the music playing you are one great group !!!
"Fabod" was a temporary summer shelter for the people who tended cattle in the forests/fields remote from the main house. Gammal (old) refers to the origin of the tune.
A brilliant version of a Swedish pearl of music

Immaculately played with emotions and intensity. The peace has a a special reflective and calm mood about it. Just beautiful!
