It’s so infuriating to the point where if there’s a Gardener, the community wouldn’t blame you for making the players of that match all bleed to death (in an unlikely but not 0% case of said Gardener removing all chairs)
She was so op back then TvT

I think another thing to note is that gardener used to be far more of a pain with chairs only being able to be repaired with the abnormal trait
I used to be a Mind's Eye main back when her blindness was really dark, stopped playing her just a little after her adjust (not really for the adjustment itself, I just started maining Perfurmer at the time), and I can say I miss her old vision so much I wish they could bring it back even as an option, it was so unique and added a eerie vibe to the game. I used to main her because I thought she was cute, because of her decoding and because I felt that everyone knowing where hunter was at the start of the match was pretty useful for us.
Yeah it’s really a shame tho. But to be honest, to try to get that dark creepy vibe again, you can technically lower the brightness of the map all the way down when using her. It’s not quite the same, but it does hinder your vision nonetheless.
A few years ago I started playing minds eye and I really suck since I could bearly focus on kiting while it was too dark and also my vaulting speed is horrendous every hunter waited me to vault to get a free hit and it get terror shocks every time so now it‘s still the same even the buff wouldn’t helped me…
I bursted out laughing when Luca's first read in popped up. Also the fact that he's the only guy there is even funnier.
I first maimed doc bc of her healing sure, but it’s also worth mentioning that she has no decoding debuffs and very little against her
No cause I was literally so toxic before since there is no such thing as a healing speed limit. I would play with my enchantress friend and we heal stun heal stun heal stun. I was like a reusable punching bag that’s always giving her 5 stacks. And my other friend played seer and just farm stacks of bird to use end game with detention. The decoder was probably crying why were they facing the hunter 3 people at a time 😭😭😭

Old prisoner main here, and even if you ask me i also could not explain what exactly made me like him so much. I still adore him to this day, but i def dont main him anymore lol
I started with the Doctor and she's always the first survivor I choose to play. I'm not the best at containing the hunter and the fact that she can heal herself reassures me. I also like the fact that she has no decoding debuff.
I also think I like her the most because I always tend to choose healers in games 😂
I definetly started with Gardner for the same reasons you mentioned! She was super cute and she was really simple to use, no confusing extra abilities, or complex main abilities. You go up to a chair, you destroy it, and that's it. And I don't know if the toggle button was always there but when I first started I don't remember it being there? So it was just, you spawn with a shield, then you just, stand still for another. It was just really easy so you didn't have to focus on the character-specific mechanics and could learn the general game strategies

I mained mech cause she was good, i like her design, gameplay and often requires big brain

Actually I mained Luca was because I like his personality of how he's someone not easily giving up in his past story and how people portrayed him as someone who's very extroverted and outgoing. It relates to me a lot, since it kind of symbols past me, it just reminds how I was in the past a lot.
Second reason was because I just like his backstory alright? Lol. I like physics and all those theories making but I won't try to master it cause it's hard for someone thats bad at math like me.
Third reason was because I am bad at kiting and I often get terror shocked but using Luca somehow just gives me a chance to kite longer with the stun and less terror shocks lol
And theres a small part of where I just love how his teacher which is Alva used to look like (I also love how he look like now, so handsome-), idk how this is also a reason but it just is... (maybe cause I'm srsly bad at playing Alva so)

I used to main doctor when I'm still in low rank with the same reason in your video (And also so that I didn't die too early).
But now there's so many interesting Character and fun to play with, and now I enjoying more a character that have kiting skill, and maybe helping other kiter like using Norton, Patricia or Kreacher (I just love bullying hunter).
Prisoner was my first main because of his design and story that stuck out to me. I found his lore interesting and his gameplay fun
luca was my first main (i still main him, but i main tracy and melly now too) but ir was because i joined during the bsd crossover and bought dazai 😭😭
It's funny how newer players have changed the way this game is played. When I started playing back on December 2019 everyone brought tide and that's why as soon as I had enough clues I bought priestess, I got lucky though since it was the end of season 8 and all characters were available so I've always been a priestess main 😂
I'm a mechanic main so i really can't say
But i feel like mind's eye's blindness being worse is what makes her fun and unique. it gives her a certain challange and a good trade off for her fast decoding speed
Since they made it better you practically have normal vision which is just not as fun
my first main was actually coord! nobody wanted to pick a rescuer when I started playing and she was the only rescuer I thought was cute plus easy to play! I still use her occasionally
First Officer is my main. It really helps me to get out of my comfort zone of “focus on decoding” and relieve some stigma around the hunter(s).
I avoided IDV in 2021 because I thought Prisoner simps were annoying LMAO
as a 3 years player who mains gardener ur comment about her chair breaking made me cry :(
I main helena before they buff her area to see things more clearer and bigger but when i saw her trailer from when she came out, i liked it made u feel how a blind person see(maybe idk) i wanted her some area of seeing like back then cause when i play her in a make like Eversleeping when i use my staff i get blinded by the buildings and i cann't see the hunter for a while

I was one of the old Tracy mains!! Now I main Acrobat, but back in 2019 the only reason I mained her was because she had a cool hat I'm ngl
I first started with Gardener but did a little quiz and talked to some Idv friends and they said I might like to play decoder, specifically Luca idk why. I never found him attractive tbh but I did recognize him from 2020 tiktok stuff and tbh it's hard for me not to play him because he's just perfect hehe.
Doctor main here! I main doctor because I genuinely think her play style is really fun and satisfying. It’s really satisfying when you’re able to get heals off during a kite, and it’s easy to support and body block for others too because she can tank them. The fact that she can heal chip damage is a life saver, and she also doesn’t need to depend on anyone for healing.
Started on season 2, I mained Mechanic ❤❤❤ I miss mechanic glory days.
My first main Thief, but changed to Lawyer because I found flashlight saves tricky somehow because the hunters look away. Then I moved to Ada/Melly, but I still often play Freddy as a Rescuer :3
When i didn't have any chatacter bought, i was playing doctor because she was female and she can heal.

When I started to use mechanic I don’t use her doll to decode I use it for body block and it works so good especially against bane
I mained Lucky Guy until a I had enough clues to buy a character, which was Merc. I chose him because I got the nagito skin but I didn’t actually own Merc. Now he’s my most played survivor and I have like 4 a tiers on him
My main is enchantress bc her stuns helps me a lot when im getting chased by hunter

Lmao, I first mained Priestess and Seer since they were the first 2 survivors I played (on a friend's device). I liked Seer's owl and being able to give a shield. Turns out they were both meta. Months later now a griffin rank, I never have been able to play them again.

Im a kinda new player and i main gardener its because its actually kinda easy to rescue without getting hit if you have distance that is,ill just go have a staring contest with the hunter then shield and rescue but i feel like its because im kinda new so probably if i become a veteran i would literally not be able to do this🎉
My first main was First Officer, I did use Mech but never felt connected. then I fell in love with cowboy for a while. My name is still AyusoLove. Now I main Ada and Kurt the same amount depending on what I wanna do :)

before playing idv i used to play dbd where the randoms are a bit more.. random. my main was claudette so seeing idv's version of claudette in game made me think doc's unlimited healing was the most op thing in the world lol
i've been playing gardener for 3 years, both for her gameplay which i find really fun, her lore, her skins etc. I mean, it's hella fun when a naiad closes me in an area and i just pop my shield and stay there and then i use flywheel in the water, if you know what to do, its hella fun, and of course, getting matched with people who understand that falling away from chairs just so you can help them struggle is the best type of harassing ever, i mean, being harassed by a gardener sounds so silly... i can already remember all the hunters telling me the 3 famous letters just because i helped someone struggle free
I first mained Edgar, I still main him but now added Emma and Emily LOL
Although my first main was technically Doctor, I am one of the people who decided to use Mechanic as a first main! And honestly, I just thought her ability was pretty cool- back then I thought her bot was kind of a "second chance". Its a bit different from Doctor and her self heal but the ability to still roam around despite being chaired really sold her for me. Plus you could heal yourself with the bot either way, it's literally just having two sides of you THAT YOU CAN CONTROL in the same map. It's miles different from say Journalist or Puppeteer's ability. They might have their own "alter egos" per say, but it's just AI. You cant control you, nor do you have a "second half".
I main Andrew/Gravekeeper now but I occasionally still use her for fun! Although I do agree that other decoders are almost _miles_ better than her, to me, she still has one of the most unique, if not, the most coolest abilities!
I used to main minds eye back in the day, I was very good with her and was ranking up a lot, almost got my S badge and all but I quit her because after they canceled the one buff she got where she could push hunters back.. but I tried getting back into playing her but her new “blindness” is just too much, the lighting and everything, minds eye’s blindness was what made her so good, now she’s color blind and it ruins my eyes 😭😭
People like decoders because they think that you can decode for the whole game and not kite. But you need to know how to kite in every role. Not every game there will be a harasser by your side to help or save you. And you will become an easy target for the hunter.

I main Lawyer (Prisoner, Merc, Grave Keeper randomly picked and if I feel like being chaired I'll play Seer because his owl always leaves me 😂) I played Mechanic to get her quests done and dropped her the second it was done. I had so much trouble with her, but I do have Misa and her doll skin SCREAMS "hi! Hello hunter-bby! 8D" every time so that might be why, but she really is adorable so as Light/Lawyer I will go the distance to save her, but Prisoner(double points for L) will get my attention first if he's on the field (it's the shock Phoenix. Most people maining/thirst for him is the shock. I have two friends that jumped into the game and fell hard for the shock and his quirkiness - also his skins. My bestie plays Prisoner for L but went crazy in wanting Dazai, and now she is always torn on "To be chaired as L or to strip as Dazai?" 😂

Thing is from what ive seen female characters seem to be more popular unfortunately, i mean that’s not a bad thing, but like they get more preference when it comes to skins. I’m saying this as one of the rare female players that like playing male characters lol
