What's interesting about this timeline is odoacer and the ostrogoths still considered themselves governors of a Roman province, and the Roman inhabitants of Italy considered them the continuation of the Roman government there. In fact, they still had Roman prefects in charge of Italy under them along with the Roman senate.
Dalmatia actually didnt fall to Odoacer in 480, but upon assassinating Julius Nepos, the roman general Ovida ruled Dalmatia for another one or two years until Odoacer invaded in 481/82
Kind of out of place having a Bulgarian song in the "Reign of Theodoric" to "Gothic wars" part. I guess it could be an easter egg of bulgar mercenaries being used in Italy but still an odd choice. Anyways nice video overall.
I would love to collab on a series in which Islam never existed. I think it could make for some good mapping videos and creative freedom for it would be crazy
In that scenario, the Eastern Roman after recovering from the Persian wars, eventually reconquer the Lombards part of Italy. They eventually reabsor Visigothic Spain into the Empire. The question is if they would be able to reconquer Frankish Gual. Imagine an Eastern Roman Army fighting Charles Martel at an alternative battle of Tours.
@@RedWolf75 I think it’s more likely that the Roman’s would be better off but would not be able to another Justinian style reconquest for a long time, but I believe Rome would remain a major player ATLEAST until the mongol invasions
In my opinion, if Belisarius and Narses stopped their offensive after breaking the first siege of Rome and let the Northern Italy as the buffer zone between Romans and more barbaric Germans Byzantine Empire would be more stronger and if Justinian focused all of his forces against the Sassanids he would conquer all the territories of Trajan and probably even more as Constantinople was situated far more east than Rome so the control of the Middle East would be much easier.
The breakup of the Roman Empire was the greatest geopolitical tragedy of the human history. The Ukrainian southern counteroffensive was maybe the beginning of the second one.

Also maybe the lombards could be subjugated as some sort of foederati

How about a marriage between the East Roman Imperial family and the Spanish Visigothic royals. Maybe that way Spain is reincorporated.
@@RedWolf75not possible, even a marriage with Charlemagne was not possible due to Roman perception of all other groups as barbarians and this inferior
I saw only one mistake.Rugii Kingdom in 477-486 was independent (Unless I don’t know something).Good video anyway.

It's a Bulgarian song named "Snošti E Dobra".
@@boss_schmatzeThank you. But I have no idea why did he use Bulgarian song for Germanic kingdom 150 years older than Bulgaria.
@@Shthophyckq I think he just went with whatever copyright free music would suit the video.
