Great starting point fellas, another thing to consider…. Better run some sort of lifter valley girdle on it, as you can see there isn’t a lot of meat around the lifter bores they are known to break off when using big cam/spring pressure. Also you can use big block Chevy rocker studs to make the valve train adjustable if needed. Looking forward to it fellas gonna be really cool!!
ive had a few of those motors and i still have a set of 62 heads. i went through a ton of pontiacs back in the 80s and never had a set of splash shields pop up on any of the motors i had...that motor is a good find with some really good parts. those intakes work better than the original performer. you guys are gonna have a fun build. your friend bryan at b&r gets on the dci motorsports podcasts on wednesdays at 5pm central time. i get on there also. Don is a great guy and lots of pontiac knowledge. you guys should check it out
Nice work. I prefer using the 400 block for builds as well. Looks like you got a good one. There's also no need to use 4-bolt mains. Just stick with the 2-bolt setup and reuse the original caps. FYI, the audio in your videos distorts a decent amount when you are speaking, so you may want to turn down the gain on your microphone. Keep up the good work!
I have a 67 GTO with a 400 bored and stroked to 495 so you have many options. Please keep it a Pontiac engine. Are you interested in selling the Quadrajet carb? I look forward to seeing your build.
All cast iron intakes were basically the same. 67's were a little unique but all the others were basically the same, nothing super HP about them. The aluminum ones are a different story.
Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope all is well. Hope you have an incredible day. Much love and RESPECT
Thank you! You too Tim! Hope your day is going well and have a great weekend!
Good forensics on the parts ! Interesting. Sounds like some really good possibilities 👍
Thanks man! It was interesting to see how the engine looked!
Sounds like a good hart for power build, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks Donald, we're going to make it a real screamer! Best to you and your loved ones too!

B&R is a wealth of knowledge, we talk a lot! I watch DCI, great channel!
That's one Cool Pontiac 68 is my favorite year too
Thanks!!
Nice👍
Thanks man!
Never had a 455, but loved every 400 Pontiac I owned. Well except the 160hp 76 Trans Am… that was embarrassing 😬
The 400 is a great engine, oh man, that was a weak one but what a cool car!

Great feedback, thanks for watching! Thank you! the 400 is a great engine for sure
I would love to find a good 400 for mine, thought I had finally and it turned out to be a 74 350.
You can do a lot with the 350, but I agree, the 400 is the choice to go with
Change of plans
slightly, ha!

@@2HacksGarage I am. Can I email you?
350hp 400 out of a GTO is the block.

The 400 is the best Pontiac V8. The 455 is under square. The bore is 4.15-in. the stroke is 4.21.
Such a GREAT engine!!!
I am interested in the carb. What is the best way to contact you?
2hacksgarage at gmail
The GTOs were the most beautiful of the musclecars. The Pontiac guys were the greasiest gearheads😂 race, repair, repeat.
you got that right! torque monsters!!
🦈
Dart sport!

Good morning. The email you sent is not valid. Is there another one? This is about the carb.
Thanks.
Let me check, 2hacksgarage@gmail.com should be valid
@@2HacksGarage That worked Thanks.
you can still get 496 ci out of a 400 block
That’s a stout setup for sure, been doing a lot of research on the different combinations
@2HacksGarage 440 the 460's and the 480 combos seem to do well for drags im running a 463 and 750 rwhp on alcohol
