Take your 😢power back - yaaaas!!! Married from 19 to 73 and finally left him, alcoholic, bipolar, narcissistic personality disorder. I was pretty broken by his abuse. I left at 73, friends thought I was nuts. Moved into a cute condo, decorated it MY way. Made a couple of new friends and then…..crickets lol. Was feeling like I didn’t have a purpose and then out of the blue I knew I had to write a book- about my Italian history, goes back to 1866. I AM IN LOVE with what I’m doing with my life. Happy happy! Even took a 3 mo trip to Italy and lived in my Italian heritage. Lisa there still is life even after 75. I was a follower of yours many years ago and you helped so much during the bad times. I’m now back following you. This was a great show today, very very inspirational!!! Empty nester - I loved every age my children went through. I loved watching them learn, stretch themselves, and mature. Of course, there are also the not so fun times, but overall I loved to just watch them. They are so much smarter than I am. I'm very thankful for that.

I so appreciate your discussion of Selling Sunset and The Real Housewives. I love the clothes. I lived in LA while I worked for SAG-AFTRA as a negotiator, and I missed some the style and the life of being "in". But I noticed that when I was binging Selling Sunset recently, I was very snippy and reactive toward my husband, and it hit me that the show makes me toxic. I do miss the stylish aspect, but I'm working hard to eliminate toxic people from my life. I realized over time -- I'm 64 - that I'm such an empath and I absorb negativity just as much and a I try to give off positivity. The less I watch the news -- I was a TV news reporter and anchor in my 20s and loved news -- the less negative I act. So much of my unhappiness throughout my life was from the negativity I was surrounded with. In retirement I've narrowed down the people in my life drastically. And instead of being lonely I'm happier and more at peace.
A lot of the times it's a blessing. We're not designed to live in unhappy or unhealthy marriage
You are already a life coach, Lisa. You just "filed the paper work" but you are such a light in women's lives that I celebrate your win, but know you didn't need the certificate. You're a natural. I have enjoyed being part of your little world here because you have brought a lot of that light into my life too. I tell you always, you make us less frumpy when we don't feel like even trying. (This applies to fashion and in life). Congratulations. 💕

Please don’t put out this falsity that it’s not “safe” or logical to have kids in your 40s. I had my first child and my world at almost 39 and she’s perfect. I got married at 37 I had my life together and so did my husband. And we were responsible to have a child. I’m so glad gods timing worked out this way. She is perfect. I’m very healthy and in shape and we are capable of giving her the best life.

Lisa, I am wondering if you have ever looked into histamine intolerance? It sure seems like some of your symptoms. Also, there is a girl ribeye rach on UA-cam who was strict carnivore and she said due to low vitamin c after so long on the carnivore diet increased her histamine responses. Just some food for thought 🙂

I am an empty-nester too and I cry allllll the time. I miss my two girls so much and the youngest is still here ….but not. I’m sure you know what I mean. I’m getting better but it’s hard. My oldest’s bedroom is still the way she left it. It’s very hard for me to go in there. ❤❤

I totally agree with you on not/no longer watching any of the Housewives shows etc. I used to really enjoy them back in the day (old school OC years, NJ, NY, BH and Atlanta). I LOVED Bravo, E! and "Reality" shows. I haven't watched any in many years and don't miss them at all. While I do understand they can be a welcomed distraction and/or entertaining for many, I rather use my time in other enjoyable ways.

I would love to learn more about the coaching program you took. I was certified as a personal trainer years ago and really enjoyed it. I am 63 now. You and I share so many values! Great topics! Change is hard and it is an adjustment, like you said. When you are going through a hard time or transition, it is hard to see the positives on the other side, but things happen for a reason. You are fortunate that you were still young when you got divorced, and we are much more resilient when we are younger. There is so much pressure on Women to be all things to everyone, and we simply cannot. I am much more confident in my 50s than I was in my 30s, and I have been through a lot--losing both my parents, losing my dog, moving across country, going through a divorce--and, I just want to have peace in my life. I have learned that you must have boundaries in order to have peace in your life, and those who do not respect your boundaries are not your friends. You are fortunate to have a loving and supportive husband, who is always there for you. I believe that a Man should embrace a Woman's femininity and a Woman should embrace a Man's masculinity. Change is an opportunity to grow and allow great things to happen. ❤
