More to deflect stones hitting the front lip of your hood. Looks really good on a silver Silverado with black aftermarket wheels and smoked head and tail lights
Wrenched Out Garage It looks great and the video is good. Thanks for posting. There's only one thing I wanted to point out so other people don't make the same mistake. First you use the alcohol pad. Then you put the surface prep pad. The prep pad is actually a primer that makes the 3M tape adhere much better.
You should dry fit it using blue painters tape and a pencil . That is how I do decals/stencils and vynil strips and it works great. On flexible vynil stuff you can use the tape to hinge it( so you can work one side at a time. That way you don't have it crooked You can tape the ends of the deflector if you are doing it by yourself, that way you cay step back and look at to make sure it is straight.thanks for making the video,I am researching deflectors/bug GUARDS.this helped me make a desision. This will work better than clear vynil for rock chips on our way to Arizona through Louisiana.I expect to replace the windshield but that is cheaper and faster then fixed the hood.
Marshall, great advice man. Thank you for sharing. In the past I generally dry fit to make sure everything is correct and on occasion have seen bad parts as well.
That's my biggest concern as well. How does it not fill up with grime between the deflector and hood? Trapped water = damage rather than protection, no?
@@b2ja03 Installed one on the Yukon a couple weeks ago. Looks good against the black paint. Held it where I wanted to install, taped with blue scotch, cleaned where the 3M adhesive was going and then applied adhesion promoter, cured at 70F. Started in the upper middle and worked out out to the sides and bottom. Turned out good.
@@b2ja03 left them open. With how flush it is. - It'll take quite a bit to get water in. I'll check tomorrow after running it through the wash and see whether the dryer gets any in

7:10 Nice video of your back
in the shade... very helpful. 😮💨
I was definitely expecting to see the final product outside of the shaded garage.

I wonder if using a wax stripper on the hood would help with the 3M tape sticking and maybe a heat gun after it's on to activate the adhesive?
Have the exact same truck. Does the water still drain off the hood with that deflector installed?
Is it ok to use on a ceramic coating?
Thought about replacing it w/ the lighted hood deflector?
Thanks for sharing,
I'm wondering how it's holding up?
It’s holding up great so far and still looks good.
Like the concept but dirt can still get in and trapped with a gap in the tape

I’m thinking a guy could just get a roll of the 3m tape and fill the gaps in. Least that’s what I’m thinking about trying

Ben D did you leave the gaps in the tape or fill in?
