    It does not feature any sentry gun sound effects, mainly because readding them in SFM would have been a monstrous task.

    There is a workshop page in the description with more images and a discussion that details the stats for the weapon. I probably should have pinned this from the start, but I haven't posted to youtube in like 5 years so that's my excuse.

      @MrNubCake When I created the animation, I did not account for the RTR. I frankly forgot it existed. Looking at it now, I find it hilarious, so I wouldn't be opposed to saying "working as intended".
      However, if Valve wanted it fixed, I could simply make separate reverse animations that have the various bits popping out of the frame as if the sentry gun was readding those parts. When sapped by the RTR, it would play those instead of the usual reverse Sentry animations.

      TF2 suffers enough from aimbot snipers, there's no need to give Engi placeable one.

      @@dmd8552 The sad thing is, the Pip Boy is a good candidate for a Stock PDA reskin while something like this Artillery Cannon Sentry, the Laser Sentry and more interesting stuff was a PDA unlock sort of deal.

    It should have a slower fire rate but massive damage, like 75 damage per shot, but a fire rate of 120 RPM to balance it.

    I like that this maintains the silhouette thing that TF2 does really well. You can see it's a Level 1/2/3 Skirmisher Sentry at a glance, even if there was a normal sentry beside it

    I imagine this would be the "long range slow RoF" option compared to others, meant to make larger areas more dangerous for the enemy but not as oppressive as the standard.

      Actually that would probably be the Artillery sentry concept. This one would probably be short range but massive damage and a medium rate of fire

      @@Toon_Lucario I was thinking Artilerry Sentry would be more "high per-shot damage, slow RoF, and fires grenades with higher damage instead of rockets" to make a sentry that's specialized for heavy hitting.

    It's cool that some parts of sentry fall off while upgrades, but what about the red tape recorder? Are parts going to fly into the sentry?

      A piece already flies off en going from 1 to 2 on the regular sentry, and it is not a problem for the recorder.

      The Red Tape Recorder just makes the building play its animations in reverse, so yes. Magically respawning sentry bits. :)

    Actually, with a name like "skirmisher," this could be a sentry that has a limited clip and/or smaller ammo pool. Sure it gets a stronger cannon, maybe fires slower while still having a higher dps, but it gets a clip of only several shots so when it runs out you can push in while it reloads.
    Why do I say this? Well, a skirmish is a short battle. So a skirmisher sentry could be strong but only for a burst of time. This would be reflected by the high burst damage, and the clip. The sentry is good if the enemy pushes briefly, but in a prolonged fight it is going to run out of steam.
    I think that could create a more interesting sentry than basically a "sniper sentry."

      Maybe lower the health as well. If it has the same amount of health(Also if wrangled) then it would be a game stopper for one side of the team. It exposes more of the interior components of the sentry, so it would make sense for it to be destroyed much more easily.

      @@lucasinazumai9873 maybe give it stats like a type of tier 1 sentry with less health that builds faster and shoots in bursts with less ammo maybe make it neccecary for the engineer to shoot enemies first to target them so it relies more on the enginer than the other two that aim completely on their own.

      While I'm here, I said this on someone else's comment but if this sentry was part or all of a new PDA for engineer... What about mixing it with the gunslinger? What I'm thinking is you get a mini version of all extra sentry types obtained via PDA. Might make balance harder, but if a new PDA is added like that that's what would happen.

    They need more biuldings for engineer, or more like replacement pda's n stuff, probably a new list with them, like maybe this sentry with the Mini despenser if you heard of that and the rejected "Bounce Pads" from Early Tf2, jus a unthought through example.

    Skirmisher:
    + 30% sentry gun range
    + 10% damage
    - 20% (maybe -30%) firing speed
    - 0.8 seconds sentry reaction time
    Level 2
    + 20% additional damage
    Level 3
    + 20% additional range
    Role - area denial in open spaces, less capable in close quarters than standard sentry gun and lacks AOE.
    That's my take, I loved playing Engie so yeah this makes me happy to see the class still get sone love (even when valve doesn't give anything).

      Slap on a slower turn speed to make it significantly easier to circle at a close range, so that it’s even weaker to being rushed

      @@monngo838 maybe...normal sentries are already pretty vulnerable to those abuses at close range and with no AOE attacks, this gun is already significantly lacking in crowd control.
      Not saying your suggestion isn't good, I just wonder if it teeters on the border of side grade or downgrade when that feature is added. Perhaps if it had a laser pointer (wrangler style) by default then it would also be easier to see it at a distance and with the reduced reaction time it gives players a chance to get to cover to break line of sight and close the distance.
      That said, reduced turn speed would not impact longer distances as much as closer ranges and could also put a clamp on a skirmisher-wrangler combo being used to offset reduced firing speed and aiming time.
      This one design has a lot of potential to inspire a different way to play - I just wish valve stopped neglecting this game.

      @@widget3672 another idea I had was limiting its vertical range, so it can’t look up. That way it’s not the mini but worse and completely ruins the day of people trying to do cool stuff. This is probably too much tho, as it would just lead to it getting instantly bombed.

      @@monngo838 maybe, with a mini it's not a major loss but a level 3 sentry is always a prime target for power classes so making one extra vulnerable is probably not going to make it a fun way to play engie when that happens after sinking all that metal into it.
      Fair note on the slowed turning speed though - since an extended delay before firing could mean direct hit soldiers could peekaboo around corners and hit it with rockets and it won't even get a chance to acknowledge even with the extra range.
      Of course direct hit soldiers are always a trial for any engie so maybe instead of 0.8 seconds delay to firing, it's an extra 0.2 seconds and a 30% reduction in gun turning speed (so closer ranges it is easier for normal classes to escape while at long ranges it can still punish enemies in the open).
      I have to say I love that we're really getting into this even though it'll never happen. Honestly, valve should just allow trusted to creators to make their own expansions with a little vetting. Sure, that's what steam is already trying to do but it's so bad at it I feel like they need reminding or to reco sides their involvement. It's a great game with an unfinished story and it's just so sad to see it neglected despite it still having so many fans and such an active community.

    I could see this having less RoF, more range, and a hitscan 'heavy' attack (laser instead of rockets). Essentially letting you have a higher quality but chunkier and slower building sentry.

    I like how you kept the rough silhouette the same as the normal sentry, but still made it easy to identify the difference between the normal and this sentry.
    Now we wait for Team Fortress 3 to drop so we can see it!

    *I can see this going 3 ways*
    One it's either the dragon's fury of sentry guns, sacrificing consistency for concentrated single target damage.
    A sort of crutch sentry that targets spies in exchange for lower damage and no rockets.
    Or a hardcore defense sentry that doesn't attack but rather destroy enemy projectiles in it's range.

      Higher damage, less rate of fire
      Undisguises and uncloaks spies, but does not attack them

    So from what I can tell this sentry is focused on long ranged attacks which means the following stats most likely will be introduced
    Slow let turning speed
    Slower firing speed
    No rockets at Lv3
    Does more damage per shot then a normal sentry
    Will rarely if possible perform headshots

    This would be a great alternative to the gunslinger, like a hybrid battle engie. Maybe give the engineer +15 HP, cheaper construction cost (around maybe 105 to 120 metal), cheaper upgrades (I’d say around 50 metal from lvl 1 to lvl 2, 100 from lvl 2 to lvl3), quicker build time, and a smaller hitbox for the sentry. In exchange, you wouldn’t get rockets at lvl3, the sentry has, let’s say, 75, 125, and 200 HP, and about 20-30% less damage per bullet.

    I love this concept!!! My only real criticism is because of the size being so similar to the standard sentry it coulddd cause readability issues at a distance or for split second reactions. I'd simply add cream spirit colored lines somewhere on the barrel to create like an eyedraw color thats not present on the normal sentry

    My suggested stats:
    Much lower fire rate, sentry shoots grenades (like Loch'n'load ones, with same speed and trajectory, and maybe accounts for ballistics), but doesn't shoot immediately when noticing enemy. With each level fire rate increases and shooting delay decreases.

    I like how its shaped differently from the regular sentry gun, it makes it a lot more balanced, because you can notice which one it is from a distance

    I like the tripod, calls back to old HMG tripods from WW1 in a way that a lot of modern video game turret tripods don't with the practicality of a long back leg to counter recoil.

    Just this alone has given me brainwaves about new buildings for Engineer and how it can be implemented to really diversify the class in terms of gameplay. God the community for this game can produce some of the best things!

    When i started playing i thought there was a lot of different sentry guns when i unlocked the gunslinger, and I got suprised that there wasnt, there are a lot of different posibilities to make different sentry guns and the developers only did two

    the concept of having sentry guns with different skins on or sentry guns that work completely differently similiar to the mini sentry is so fun to me.
    there being a slot to add for a sentry skin on wrenches that dont change how the sentry changes itself would be so cool. Like being able to switch between that artillery sentry from 2017.

    i also love that when its first placed it just looks like its a normal sentry gun sorta, then just an arm picks up the gun itself and positions it differently lol

    I can see this sentry gun being different from the gunslinger and other wrenches from the stats that come to mind. Increased damage, increased knock back, but no rockets. Making it a sentry stronger at killing single enemies but not as effective in crowd control due to lack of explosives. Makes it more effective against pyros who can airblasy though.

    If I had to guess, the Skirmisher sentry would have a much longer range than the normal sentry (could use it outdoors on open maps) and a faster construction speed, but a much narrower arc of fire than the default sentry (say 45 degrees) so it's ideal for holding long narrow sightlines

    Coming back to this, I feel like it would go along this upgrade path:
    Level one is identicle to stock sentry.
    Level two has more HP, but instead of increasing its rate of fire it increases its range.
    Level three then increases the HP further like stock, but then increases its targetting speed and maybe its range even more.

    Even though this has been while now since the video came out, I'm still looking forward seeing it in TF2 if Engineer ever gets an update.
    Considering how big the rounds are and how unique the 3 level looks, i think of these stats:
    Overall special attributes:
    +) Damage per round +80%(60 damage per hit)
    +) Range of the sentry increased by 200 HU (Imagine Upward, BLU spawn and closer to the point, there's a "Sniper building" for RED. Now imagine Skirmisher placed on that building and it will be able to shoot from that far right to BLU's spawn.)
    -) Fire Rate decreased by 70% (2 bullets per second)
    -) Bullets have damage fall-off on range(quite close - 60; mid range - 45; very far away - 30).
    -) Rotation speed decreased by 30%(Scout can outrun it's sight if close enough)
    -) Holds only 100 ammo. Consider that Stock has 200.
    Now about its levels.
    Level 1 Skirmisher:
    This level is unique in close range, dealing 60 damage and having as fast rotation time as normal sentry.
    Construction speed longer by 15%(+1,5 seconds)
    Have bad damage falloff(close 50; mid 25; far 15)
    Less Health in comparison to lvl 1 stock sentry by 25 health.
    Holds 75 ammo.
    Level 2 Skirmisher
    Upgrade adds more health(still less that stock sentry), less damage falloff(i presented it in the beginning).
    Rotation time decreased.
    Holds more bullets by 50 more.
    Adds 40% health.
    Level 3 Skirmisher
    Now adds a laser pointer to a sentry, which increases its accuracy by 75%(Scout has no chance on Mid range)
    If Skirmisher has spotted an enemy with its laser for 2> seconds, that enemy will be highlighted for 4 seconds.
    Adds 25 more ammo and 10% health

    Would love to see more building variants in-game. This one is very cool because the caliber doesn't change and neither does the number of barrels. Here's what I'd imagine for the stats.. I promise, I was thinking of the high-speed explosive rounds before I even checked your page, you're just that good at communicating it!
    Explosive projectile-firing sentry gun. Projectiles explode on contact with surfaces and deal 100 damage upon direct hit, with splash-damage radius. Does not have aim prediction except for range.
    - limited horizontal firing angle
    - slower firing rate
    Level 1: slower firing rate, same range as sentry gun (but no aim prediction makes it pretty unreliable except at tight chokes)
    Level 2: faster projectile speed, longer range
    Level 3: faster projectile speed, longer range, and active aim prediction
    Needing direct eye-of-sight would mean it can still be taken down by the enemy team and can't hide, but it would be great at objective chokepoints due to the splash damage. The more upgraded, the further back (and safer) you can keep it.

    I can imagine the purpose of the turret to extend it's auto range, while sacrificing the level 3 missiles, hence the satelite dish, so it gets to the point that you don't even need the wrangler to do your job.

    It'd be great to see this as the middle ground, being that the mini only is level 1, and the default sentry is level 3, having the skirmisher as the level 2, would be awesome.

    Skirmisher: Fires Shells instead of Bullets.
    Deals 100 damage per shot.
    Projectiles are fired instead of hitscan bullets.
    They increase in speed with each upgrade. Moving at 50%/75%/100% the speed of a liberty launcher rocket.
    Projectiles explode on impact about the radius of a rocket.
    Projectiles fired every 0.8s.
    This way the upgraded sentry is much better at hitting it's targets than the lower levelled ones simply because they travel twice as fast - but it's more effective for sentry jumping and objective protection at lower levels as it only costs 130 metal instead of 530 for full damage.

    this gives me ideas
    SKIRMISHER: (this one) long range cannon (just like the description says.) Deals low damage. Sentry's range is 1.5x normal sentry range.
    Falloff range: 100 hammer units (I think that's far enough right? Also I don't know if hammer units is a speed or a measurement but I'm using it as a measurement)
    MORTAR: Creates explosions that are similar to soldier's rockets. high damage. 0.5x of a normal sentry's range.
    Falloff: none
    CHOKE: deals high damage but with 0.25x range of a normal sentry. Great for choke points.
    Falloff: none.
    PATROLBOT2.0: Patrols a given area. Has low health, and deals low damage, but there can be 3 built at a time.
    Falloff: they use a shotgun. Put that into perspective, I suck at dealing with hammer units.
    ARTILLERY: Can shoot down rocket-jumping soldiers with ease, but isn't as effective on ground. A second sentry, similar to the disposable sentry from MVM, can be placed, but has to be outside of the artillery's range.
    Falloff: none. It is similar to the sniper, but doesn't deal as much damage. cannot headshot either.
    Please make these
