Im not going to lie I’m the guy that neglects maintaining my mower for years. So when I saw your video library about how to maintain my same mower I was super happy. You made the oil change and greasing look easy(uncomplicated).
Thanks for watching William
Thanks Jim. I'm a single lady doing my own maintenance. I appreciate your help. It was easy after watching your video. Many blessings to you good sir!
Glad to help
There are zerks fittings on top of the spindles as well.
Thanks for watching
D.J. Thanks for a great video. I knew about the 4 zerk fittings, but wasn't aware of lubing the steering. All the best!
Thanks for watching Clayton
Excellent ! Thanks i didn't know about the fittings at each front wheel !!
God Bless !
Thanks for watching Mark
Perfect! Just what I needed!
Thanks for watching
You always have the best quality videos!!!
I try, thanks
Great to-the-point work. Excellent tips too. Thanks.
Thanks again
Awesome job explaining this
Thanks and thanks for watching
Pretty straightforward. Just bought a new grease gun for this very task. Thanks.
Welcome thanks for watching
Fantastic! Thank you for this.mowing had become a loud and squeaky endeavor
Glad I could help
Perfect. Thanks Jimbo.
Thanks
Another awesome video Jim, thanks again…
Very welcome
Good video. Thanks!
You're welcome!
There is also a grease fitting on the center pulley on the top of the mower deck on my FR691V. Cheers.
Thanks for watching
Just acquired a Husq GT2254.
Hoping the rest of your videos help me PMCS my new equipment.
Hope they help
@@DIYJIM thanks sarn't!
I enjoyed the video and learned a great deal. Especially what a Zerk is. I have a Husqvarna YTH 2348 and 24V48 that I’m learning to do maintenance on after my husband passed away. The Lubrication maintenance chart points to the engine, do I grease it also?
You can, they make a White lithium grease in a spray can. You should be able to buy at any auto parts store or a Walmart. Hope this helps.
Right up under the very center of the tractor of the front end or pivot side to side there’s also grease fitting
Thanks for letting me know I thought I got them all.
Great video!
Off topic, but still a maintenance tip. Husqvarna and others recommend using non ethanol fuel/gas. You can find gas pumps that carry it. There is a site that shows on a map which stations carry it. Just make sure which pump, as not all pumps are non ethanol. Ethanol more than 10% will eat your seals, and your engine won't last as long. Some placescall it Rec-90 or recreational fuel.
I have started using non-ethanol fuel.
Not to mention ethanol will gunk up your carburetor and require cleaning
Thanks!
Welcome
Thanks

Good job Jim.
Jim when i start my mower and release the brake something is growling and sounds bad.
Still operates but oike i said it sounds rough.
I cant tell if the noise is coming from the spindle off the motor or if its one of the pullies or tranny.
I did use it to snow pkow this winter and i was a lil rough on her i guess
Sorry you might want someone to look at it. Could be a few things. Belt, bearings, transmission. Hope you get it figured out
@@DIYJIM thanks Jim,. I will figure it out. No need to send to mechanic. Just thought id put it out there to see if you or anyone knew if it was a common issue.
Thank you for replying
Happy independence day!
Great video. Do the rear wheel axles ever need grease ? I just removed the rear wheel to replace a old tire. I noticed the axle and metal washers are dry, is that normal ? Or should I lube it with graphite or something similar ?
Maybe a little grease will not hurt
There is a Utube video titled. 3 upgrades to your Husqvarna mower.
In the video, he shows how to upgrade your wheel bushings to wheel bearings. This will potentially save you hundreds of dollars in the long run.
He has the link for the bearings on Amazon in the description.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching
I have a lth1538 riding lawn mower, and the blades will not engage (has the big lever, not the pto switch). Suggestions?
Not sure check cable, check the belt for the blades. Hope you get it figured out
That looks like John Deere polyurea grease. I don't know what other grease is green. It has several benefits and you can repack the sealed spindle bearings with it. It won't eat on rubber or plastics. But it's a big pain to switch grease types. Have to clean out all the old grease which means removing tires and king pins. Worth it though, it's such a good product.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching
Hey Jim I'm sorry to ask but have you ever had reverse problems i cant reverse when I'm cutting and it just started a couple days ago cant find anything about in the manual and online I just get other ppl having different issues like not going forward or backwards. Anywhy if you know whats going id appreciate the heck out. ya I think i may need a jd person to look at it☹
Not sure that mower is my neighbors. If I remember correctly to mow in reverse you had to turn the key in the reverse spot. Maybe something is wrong with where you put your key in. Hope you get it figured out.
Thanks for the reply buddy I hope I do too
I see Husky still doesn't use a grease fitting at the front axle pivit. No lube and they wear out. My JD has one but one for the Husky.
thanks for watching
Can you make a video showing how to re install the Anti sway bar for the mower deck? 🙏
Sorry I was my neighbors mower.
Hi I have a question, my Husqvarna it’s a little rusted inside around some parts. What should I use to get rid of that rust? Thanks God bless
Not very easy to get rid of rust maybe try to sand and repaint.
My husqvarna has fittings on each blade spindles too ?
I see others say that, thanks for watching
I am having trouble greasing the wheel zerks My grease gun's fexible extension is unable to attach to the zerk. The part that attaches to the zerk is too big to get the correct angle to attach to the zerk. Any suggestions on a special attachment for the grease gun?
Maybe just take your grease gun to an auto parts store and see if they could help you. Thanks for watching.
Another option is to replace the straight zerks with 45 degree angle zerks.
Are the grease fittings placed correctly and angled easy to get at ?
As easy as any on the other small mowers. Thanks for watching
I just replaced the blades, should I spray wd40 or anything on the housing that spins the blades?
There should be grease fittings on the blade spindles that he did not mention, on top side of deck
I have a Husqvarna Riding mower with pedals auto transmission the spring broke to the pedals to transmission
To go front words and reverse please help me out
T
I would make a video of it and post it on a small engine group on Facebook. Hope you get it figured out
There are two grease fittings on the deck as well.
Thanks for watching
Just a added note. Do not force extra grease in to the fitting. When you feel the grease gun lever pushing harder, you may damage the grease seal.
Thanks for tip thanks for watching
Pretty sure he mentions exactly that in the first like 50 seconds.
I got you sarn't, Hooah!
@grantgardsson4232 what are you, 7 ?
I don't believe there is a grease seal per se on any of the parts he actually greased.
use red grease. a little tougher.
What about the belt spindles? do they have xerxes fitting or do they have to be taken apart?
I do not think they have any, I guess you can take apart. If it were me I would not worry about it unless you are mowing a lot of acres of grass. Thanks for watching
@@DIYJIM the YTH2348 has two on top of the blade housing one on each side with a 'no step' warning
along with a center spindle that you have to drop the deck to get access...grrr.
Mine has a straight zerk on top of each blade spindle. The center one on some mowers can be tough to connect to. I changed my center one to a 90 degree zerk and it's much easier to connect to.
@@danjanes8689 good idea that center one is a pain.
That steering gear set-up needs to be sealed & self-lubricated. I spray mine with WD40 every mowing. Makes it much easier to steer when freshly lubed.
Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching
Does this grease gun require air compressor to operate?
You do not need an air compressor.
nice hat
Thanks and thanks for watching
I think mine has them on my spindles too
Thanks for watching
@@DIYJIM love your page
@@danhogle1776 thank you very much. I have improved a lot since I started back in 2019.
It's actually recommended to NOT grease the steering gears. That increases the likelihood that debris gets stuck to the gears and causes more problems than non-greased gears. If they weren't exposed then it might make sense.
thanks for watching and thanks for the tip
Don't the spindles on the mower deck need grease as well?
There was no where to grease unless I took them apart. Check your spindles maybe yours are different. Thanks for watching
@@DIYJIM The top of my spindles are zerk fittings. Interestingly, I have a 54 inch deck. There are three spindles. The two outside spindles have zerk fittings but the inside spindle (which you can't get to without dropping the deck) has a sealed spindle.
@goldenacres3269 That's interesting. I greased a 2022 54" mower for my mom last week and it had zerks on all 3 blade spindles. My own 2007 54" deck is the same. I can grease the center spindle without dropping the decks. On the older mower, I did replace the straight zerk on the center spindle with a 90 degree zerk to make for an easier connection.
I personally wouldn't put grease on the steering gears, they're in the open, and the grease will catch all of the dirt that's flying around under there, and eat the gears up faster!
Also, you didn't show or talk about anything to do with the rear end, which leaks grease over time.
Thanks for watching
Greasing steering will collect dirt in grease.
Thanks for watching
Deck spindles?
Good question guess you just wait until they wear out. There was know where to grease.
@@DIYJIM I greased three spindles on a husky mower today. Has factory hole cutouts in the plastic belt guards for the zerk fitting . 23 hp prob 2015
You probably have a sealed bearing. Idk. Thanks
@@DIYJIMI can see the factory installed zerk on one of your blade spindles in your video.
im pumping and pumping my deck spindles. like 70 pumps until i feel like im wasting my time. is the grease even going in there?
There is a lot of space in there I think your good.
If you're actually pumping greae 70 times in one deck spindle, you should be able to see the grease come out the top or bottom. If not, it's not going in. The zerks can be removed for cleaning or replacement.
You forgot the pulleys on mowing deck
Thanks for watching
FORGOT THE ZERTS ON EACH OF THE BLADE PULLEYS !
Thanks for the tip but I don’t think my neighbors mower had any. I know I checked because my mower has some. Thanks for watching
Great job! Yep, no fittings on the spindles! Ugh.
