How to record party chat audio with Elgato HD60S (NO CABLES) - Xbox one/PS4

- Hello there, welcome to a little tutorial I made to help you out whilst recording with the Elgato HD60S! I show you how you DO NOT need to use cables when recording to get party chat working! Hey quick question it says it's for the elgato hd60s capture card do I just follow the videos instructions and it will be fine
@@jasonmead245 yeah, it will be fine. Just make sure the cables are the right ones and facing the right way. When you download the software, make sure you don't record with a preview window. Just switch it off. It will reduce crashes by like 100%. I went from crashing anywhere between 30mins-2 recordings to zero crashes in 2 weeks

@@jasonmead245 no worries. the software comes with the elgato. You will need it if you are going to use it. It's for free so theres no issue there

When I change this setting, it creates an echo for the party audio, is this to do with my Monitor not having a speaker or something else?
Hmm I’m not sure what the problem is, it could definitely be your monitor because it doesn’t have speakers and it just redirects it back to the headset.. but what I’m thinking is does your monitor have a mute button at all? Like maybe if you had external speakers, if it does then maybe try mute it to see what happens? I’ve only had this problem when it’s in headset & speakers.. Let me know how it goes!
I have this exact issue .... it makes your party volume extremely loud and echos... then my game audio quiet

Okay so I am trying to stream live on UA-cam. I want the stream to hear me, the party, and the gameplay. Do I have to buy something? If so, can you please tell me exactly what to buy? If not, is the stuff that you explained in this video everything I need for the stream to be able to hear me, my party and the gameplay?

Headset and speakers should fix all problems and change the chat mixer to none :) Hope this helps y’all I had the same problem
I tried that and the stream still has no game audio for me.
you seem the most competent and have the most current video I've found yet.... so let's ask, I just got the HD60 S, I have the chatlink as well (I heard it's needed for playstation but haven't tried yet), but I was trying to stream last night using OBS Studio and streaming to twitch, I messed around with the settings and have the party chat mixer set to headset & speakers (my preference so I can hear the group clearly in my ear as well as over the stream), using the chat link or not made no difference unfortunately, I can't get MY voice to be heard over the stream. at one point my girlfriend (watching the stream) said she could hear me but it was extremely quiet and having listened to the vod with my monitor maxxed, I could barely hear it. any ideas?
Does the capture card you’re using allow to record your voice through chat or are you using something else to record your voice ?
kinde late, it does not take your voice, what you can do is just buy a mic that you take in you pc

Great video.... now the big question.... I have a one x and the only way I can record 4K is with the 4k60 by el gato.... but no one describes how to include party chat with that.... did you ever upgrade to it? Any clue to how to do this is appreciated

When I play fortnite, the game audio is to quiet on my elgato. And the elgato doesn't pick up party chat from the people IN THE GAME. It does pick up the people on the xbox party but not the fortnite party. How do I fix these??
What do you record on? Xbox? If so, if I record I end it but can't hear my self in the game play, I can only hear the game noice not me and what's your mic called?

Im using the hd60s. My son uses Steelseries Arctis 3 and I use Arctis 7. Are these headser compatible with this method? My headset is wireless but requires a usb hub plugged in the laptop. His requires a auido cable to controller. Thanks man

My xbox one x, elagto coming in the mail, laptop and astro a20 headset. Will i be able to recors gameplay and my own voice with this? And if so how. Btw my monitor has no speakers.

My Hd60S records the party audio after i follow your instructions but it doesn't pick up my mic audio. Is it supposed to be in controller or laptop or what? (On Xbox for the record)

Sorry for the late reply guys! Unfortunately you can’t, you need some type of external microphone.. it sucks but we just have to deal with it for now :/
XxAmBrosionxX it’s fine man I bought a mic, anyway I record using my elgato with a Samson mic and my controller button mashing comes in the recording, how can I have it so that the controller buttons can’t be heard
Abdul R it’s very hard to reduce button mashing, you can potentially lower the volume levels of your microphone and then move it closer to your mouth, that’s kind of how I fix it.. but realistically to remove button mashing you need a mic probably in the $400 aud mark, and then some awesome editing software.. it isn’t the easiest thing to remove and I’m still trying to find a good tutorial to help out! If you find one let me know! Button mashing is a struggle :(

I used a separate recording device for my own voice, it isn't possible to record your own voice without an external mic connected to your pc from my understanding sorry.
Where does the external mic need to be plugged in to hear your voice ?

How long can you record with this and how expensive
On google its says you can record for as long as you want, if you have enough space. Also the target store around me has one for $115.00.
Edit: you can search on google "How much is a elgato capture card", it might tell you how much it is near you.

Bombqueen101 I wouldn’t think so because your headset would just be connected to your controller, and as far as I know Elgato doesn’t have an option to just strip the audio straight from the headset to the stream unfortunately.. but this video shows how to get all that audio onto the elgato program! :)

You might not be able to answer this. Im having a weird issue where when I stream, I can't hear the party coming through on my stream.
Are you streaming on Xbox? If so you might have to make sure that everyone in the Party enables their party audio. If its through the elgato then I'm not sure, if it works for a video it should work for a stream

Maybe change the thing from speakers to headset and speakers in settings

I have a question. So I can hear my friend in the party I can hear the game audio but I cannot hear myself. Why can’t I hear myself I use the elgato HD60S+ and I use steelseries artics 9x headset on my Xbox
You need to have a separate microphone connected to your pc, I use the AT2020. Unfortunately you can't use a microphone connected to the xbox to record your voice

Sorry for the very late reply, you might be able to adjust their voice separately in party chat.
