I have a 2014 civic si and I’m debating on getting a base model 2016 veloster na 1.6 was yours a turbo model? And what was your experience with the veloster or should I stick with my 9th gen civic only has 101k miles
Personally I would stick with the Si , more reliable. My Hyundai was always breaking down, many of my Veloster friends have been telling me that I got rid of it at a good time because now all their cars are breaking down too. Honda is just more reliable in the long run, my Veloster was also base 1.6L non turbo
@@InfiniteGamerXI I thought so too especially seeing you upgrade to a civic as well. Only reason I was considering was because it was 40k miles for 8k so I was debating but I’ve only had my si for a year I’m already getting pretty attached
@@sammymontano1202 that’s a pretty good deal! I’ve also heard that they’re going to be discontinuing the production of all Veloster models except the Veloster N , so if you do get one it’ll pretty much be a rarity 😭
@@InfiniteGamerXI very true, my only question is what we’re the issue with yours, I’ve heard mixed reviews on the turbo and was told on some forums that the NA specifically was just as reliable as a Honda. And that’s why since it is a good deal I’m interested but I don’t want to sacrifice reliability, the one thing I do like about the veloster is the uniqueness, I do drive around 60 miles every other day round trip. So around 1,00 miles a month more or less.
@@sammymontano1202 with my Veloster it was burning oil like crazy once it hit 60k miles, the techs at Hyundai didn’t know why but every 3 days I had to fill up the oil again, no leaks or signs of leaks. After about a month of that happening my catalytic converter got clogged. Fixed it then 2 weeks later it clogged again. After I fixed it that time my engine went out on me. Luckily there was a recall for Hyundai Veloster engines when that happened so I didn’t have to pay out of pocket and got it replaced for free but then my engine went out again in less than a month. It was under warranty from when they fixed it the first time so they replaced it again and then my transmission started acting up and they said I would have to replace my trans , out of pocket. All this was between 60-80k miles. Recently 4 of my Veloster friends with around that mileage started messaging me asking what was wrong with my Veloster before I got rid of it and when I explained all the symptoms , they were experiencing all the same symptoms. Of those 4 friend, 3 of their engines went out. I used the car as a daily driver to work, about 60 miles a day in and out 6 days a week, I didn’t race or speed so it was a normal drive each day. Keep in mind by this time I had no warranty on the car and I was still paying it off so it became too expensive for me to upkeep and that’s when I traded it for the civic
