    Quarter squats are a great exercise for beginner and intermediate athletes. They're a great way to add variety to your leg workouts and they're a great way to increase your strength and muscle tone. However, full depth squats have a major issue that you need to be aware of. He’s right, quarter squats are better as they store more elastic energy (the duration of lengthening and shortening of a muscle). For hypertrophy full ROM would be best but for vertical jumps, quarter squats are better.

      @@Coach_MarioRios a standing vertical leap correlates quite significantly to a full approach. If someone’s standing vertical is high with good technique, their full approach vertical would likely also be high. A full squat also has a high rate of force production and total force production (newtons of force). Which are the two components to a vertical jump, which is also why exercises like the hang clean are superb for improving vertical, because they require high amounts of force to be produced at very high speeds. Those two factors are what correlate most with vertical.

    I dont think this is accurate at all, there is no way full depth squats wont have athletic carry over. You are training through the entire range of motion, including that quarter squat stance frequently seen in sports

  • @sergiogarpla2902
    @sergiogarpla2902 Рік тому

    Full depth squats is arguably the best variation of squat for athleticism. Developing the complete musculature of the legs, improving ankle and knee mobility, developing better elasticity on the tendons of the legs and improving balance. what ruins you athleticism is not training your aerobic and anaerobic endurace.

      @@Coach_MarioRios in your video you literally claimed “full depth squats are ruining your athleticism.” That is by far the funniest and dumbest thing I’ve heard. With a little Goggling I could easily find counter arguments done on that. There is a reason why many athletes ranging in many different sports have full depth squats in your workouts. Yes, different variations of squats may benefit you ability to work on those fast twitch muscles, but saying full depth squats are running your athleticism is just ridiculous

    And half rep squats are even worse.

  • @FistfulOfGabagool
    @FistfulOfGabagool 5 місяців тому

    Full depth is better for overall leg development which is why people who can full squat heavy can half squat heavier and quarter squat super heavy without hardly training for it.. The reverse is not true, if you only train partial squats your full squat will stay weak. Why does that matter? Eventually you will hit a wall with your partial squats and have to work on less specific, more general leg strength(full squats) and then you'll have a hell of a time getting your legs developed enough to break that partial squat plateau and you'll realize you wasted your time focusing on partials and now you have to go back and actually get strong. You tried to build a house on sand and skipped the foundation.. Getting athletic is a slow and gradual process, you can't cut corners. If you could find studies that track athletes for years instead of weeks, you'd see different results.

    Full depth improves mobility (aka keeping you in the game) which every athlete that runs can benefit from it.

    Dudes who go super slow on full squats are the ones with no hops.
    You need to do the squats fast, with light to medium weights, and many reps for a burn.
    You can't just slam down to the floor, though. You have to slow the descent before you bottom out, stiffening your core and all, then shoot it up with your back straightened and ass pumping. Bam, bam, bam do as many as you can until you can't breath, or you're about to pass out.
    The objective is soreness. Fast burns and stretches do the trick, baby.
