I remember when I first heard this song. I was about to be a father for the first time, worries about providing for my family and all the doubts that comes along with it. Unstable living situations and difficult times had me real pessimistic. One morning i was heading to the mountains to gather firewood to try and make a little money by selling. As i was nearing the top the sun started to peak through and i seen three brighter stars to the right of the mountain horizon. It was like a picture perfect moment, then traveler came on the radio and half way through the song a sense of relief or call it what you may came over me. I felt for the first time in a long time that everything was going to be okay. I'm just a traveler on this earth for but a short time and I've learned to make the best of it.. love,laugh, and make everyday count and remember God will provide

My son had to do a school paper on if your life was a song what song would you pick and he picked this one and the reason why he picked this one is because he said he feels like that it is a day in the life of a type 1 diabetic you never know what your life holds from day-to-day and that going far as having high blood sugar and low blood sugar or if you're even going to wake up he's only 14 years old and had diabetes since he's been 6 yrs old... and in that time frame he's already got first stages of fatty liver disease due to his diabetes and also first stages of kidney damage no matter what we've done no matter what Lifestyles we've made his sugar is still out of control the doctors call it insulin resistant we're his body don't know how to break down the insulin so therefore he has high blood sugars all the time so he said this song is an encouragement and a song about his life because he's a traveler through this life everyday. . Broke my heart when I read his paper 😢💔#curefortype1diabetes.....

shaquela collier I did several 1200 mile trips and wore out my cd had to get a new one now I have two Chris Stapleton cds and two from when he was with the Steeldrivers. You'd love some of the songs he did with them. I've known about Chris for almost 6 years now he's about all I really listen to. My local kj has downloaded several of his songs for me to sing and I always get applause to them and generally asked about how I heard of him. Two good ol Louisiana boys gave his music to me. They are awesome themselves. Sam n smoke. You should give them a listen.

Wow. This is such a cool comment. I was commenting above that my dad and his lady introduced me to this and some other country this weekend (not typically a country fan) - but this grabbed me. I don't need the country music that sings about drinking, etc. I'm not dismissing folks for whom that music speaks - but I'm not really a drinker. I'm not trying to stereotype all country music. I confess I don't really know it. But just my little experience - that's honestly the taste (no pun intended) that country music has left in my mouth. But Chris - your Traveller song is the bomb!

My wife ordered this cd for me a few weeks ago. It arrived last week and it hasn't left the cd player in my truck since I put it in. Love it, Cant wait for his next one. The first time I heard Chris was at work on Pandora radio on my phone. Sticks that made Thunder came on and I stopped welding so I could hear the song I was blown away by it I ordered 2 Steeldrivers cd's the next day. Then about a year ago a buddy of mine turned me on to The Jompson Brothers. Again I was blown away. Chris Stapleton is in my top 5 singers of all time and I have a lot of favorites Love all the old classic country and rock. Chris was born too late. He would've fit right in with Waylon and Willie

This song is so much better than that "country" pop shit everyone is making today. It's like in most country music today if you replaced the singer with a non country singer it wouldn't even sound like a country song anymore. Where as this song no matter how you sing it it always sounds like a country song.

I read a lot of people in the comments saying, "I never liked country music, but this is good." Maybe I'm misunderstanding them. Maybe they like Stapleton's vocal abilities or his smooth instrument arrangement, but to me THIS has always been country music. I'm a millennial who loves Hank Sr. & Jr., Jones, Haggard, Tubb, Strait, and Jennings to name a few. Country was OK in the 90s, you kind of had to pick out those wonderful artists, but the industry lost me in the early 2000s with Taylor Swift and Blake Shelton's watered down, bubble-gum, teenage hip-hop, trying too hard to be "with it" and "cool" nothingness. I am glad to see Stapleton is bringing the heartache, ramblin', and dirt road philosophy to mainstream country. Glad to see people enjoying this stuff too. :)

I can like Taylor and Chris no matter their styles or levels of country, if one is more country than the other or the person for who they sing (teens or adults). People needs to stop compare things there are very different and judging things that are meant for other type of audience that they don't understand. Fortunately, i can like a lot of artists of almost every style. I'm glad that Stepleton is bringing back this traditional country to the new generation, but i'm glad that Taylor mixed her country with pop music and showed the world a genre that was forgotten in the mainstream for years, it's because of her that i started to listen country that is my favorite genre of music now(and i'm from Brazil) and i'm proud of her.
I think he adds a little more southern rock/bluesy sound than traditional country. It works out amazing.

This song reminds me of my grandma in Virginia.. she went through the depression burning furniture for warmth and other hardships I couldn’t imagine but by the time I was old enough to remember she was the sweetest soul all 100 lbs of her. Such a small woman with the biggest heart I’ve ever met. She was a traveler. Love you grandma RIP..
