On repeat heavy and I’m a brother from the inner city ghettos. Music has no color and if we all enjoyed the colors of life rather than race, life wouldn’t seem so hard. I really appreciate good music 🙌🏾
I will be honest, before the Super Bowl, I never even heard of this guy. Not exactly my genre. I’m a bit disappointed in myself for not knowing, THIS GUY IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST. Hearing his music for the first time is a feeling I can’t explain. It literally touches my soul. He immediately is in my all time top vocalists. I can’t believe how good this guy is. I’ve watched his live performances and they are just amazing as well. The guy introduced his backup band singing so beautifully. AND that national anthem was simply the greatest rendition I’ve heard in my lifetime. I’m 46 years old, I’ve heard plenty of them too.

I don't listen to country but, this song came up on my feed. I LOVE this song!!! 4 years sober and loving each and everyday now. Replaced the bottle with the love of Jesus never knew how beautiful it would be 💖
Amen!!! Nothing like being sober. I've figured other method relieving life's issue besides boozen down. I pray, have faith, wait upon the Lord. In his time, I've had my prayers answered 🙏
I'm from SC and my ex played this song for me and told me this is how he feels about me. We have known each other for 20 years and dated for 10(High School sweethearts). He experienced PTSD from being in war, not being able to have a relationship with his other children. Which led to him having an alcohol addiction. We have a child together and every time I hear this song I tear up. It's been a year since he passed in March. He is truly missed😢😢❤❤

Yes I love this song 💗💗💗💗💗💗 it talking about being n staying clean for someone other than your self, his daughter kept him from the BOTTOM OF THE BOTTLE 🍼🍾, AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!!!
I played this to my mama all the time, she would cry. But not of sadness, but of the way she raised me to be the man i am today. I am a happy man, single and more-than-likely to be a virgin for life.😂 But im a proud man and im still playing this to her to this day, she crys of happiness of the fact that she raised a good man as a single-mother and me being a middle-child of four boys. Love this❤ (Edit: If and when i get a daughter, im singing this to her❤)

This is perfection. Chris Stapleton is perfection for this song. The song is one of those songs that transcends race, music genre and anything that separates.... This song was tailor made for him, and no matter who you are this song speaks to a time when all of us have suffered a low and someone came to our rescue and lifted us up just when we needed it the most. This song is the Truth ! R.I.P. Ms. Etta James.

It was originally written in the early 80s by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. Not to say that the melody and chords weren’t inspired by Etta James’s (I’d Rather Go Blind) because when George Jones performed it in 83 it was a western melody

His song made me realise I was in a bad relationship after 10yrs and it helped me through the break up. The woman he describes is everything 'she' was not, took me for granted and made me feel 'little', while I did my hardest. Drove me to the point to take that bottle and then I heared his song. Sober for 4 month's now and happy with my 2 kittens. Such a sweet little song can make you realise the hardship of the world you live in at that moment! Love the song will let it play on my funeral next to Bob Marley's redemption song when I go! Ps: just discovered this gem, I was always hard in to the European EDM music
This song transcends geography, culture, color, genre... all kinds of people love this song. Played it in a bar in Miami the other night, soon as it came on this Italian guy starts belting it out. He barely spoke English, but he knew every word of this song.
Andrew Taylor Chris Stapleton has been writing for other country singer. and my husband ken Stapleton is related to him . Chris's Father and ken's father were cousins
The first time I heard Chris sing this song, I thought he will be the next George Strait or Glen Campbell. I lean toward Glen Campbell because of the voice and guitar playing.
I had a nasty addiction to whiskey and was slowly killing myself. I met my wife and found this song. This song rescued me. And thanks to my incredible wife I've been nearly 5 years sober may of April 2025.

Every time I listen to this song it touches my soul and makes me think deeply about life and it’s trials and tribulations,of love we felt and lost, memories of times and places and things that brought us comfort and joy, I think everyone who listens to this is taken to a place they try hard in their daily lives to forget, but it’s nice to go back there sometimes. Thank you for such a beautiful song ,sung with such emotion , may god bless you and all your listeners with happiness, health and success. Peace and love to all
I agree completely it always comes up on my play list at the random time I need to remember where I’ve been and where I am going and who is no longer here
Honestly I was so against this song for so long. My opinion was that he took a quintessential country classic and turned it into a soul song. Over time I have been converted, it IS a very soulful rendition of a classic but he made the song his and that cannot be denied, just like this man's talent. He could make Ole McDonald sound like a timeless classic.
Just went to his concert last night in Bossier City, La. Chris does not need technology to make his voice sound perfect. He has a God given talent with his voice. He is right on key. He is the best!
Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you dont feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day!"
You read me to the tea thank you for the inspirational message sometimes life can be tough and Lonely out there in this mean world sometimes I ask myself do the Lonely get Lonely? Depression plays alot of emotional stress but thank you again for the kind words ❤❤❤❤❤
It is me, or does this song sound similar to "I'd rather go blind" by Etta James?, the song's chords sound quite similar, but both beautifully played and thrill you to almost cry. Incredible blues sounds!
Exactly same progression, has got this "soul" feel. Same progression as Keith Urban's "Blue Ain't Your Color" as well, but that is 1 whole step down from this.
But the real question is, Was George Jones version of this song 1st or Ettas, Id rather go blind.. thats your homework for tomorrow, class is dismissed. 😁😉
Sitting in prison for 24 years, since I was 19 away from everyone you love. You realize love is the greatest gift given to us. Unfortunately for some its too late and for others we fail to realize that beautiful woman laying next to us. Appreciate her while you can, or you'll be alone. Music like this brings out the truth.

I'm sitting here in a working class area of Dublin, Ireland. listening to this and just chilling, music has no borders my friend.☮️✌️
I know... Chris Stapleton definitely 💯 percent touches the heart and soul❤️

I don't listen to country but, this song came up on my feed. I LOVE this song!!! 4 years sober and loving each and everyday now. Replaced the bottle with the love of Jesus never knew how beautiful it would be 💖
Way to go Angella. Keep it up
Amen!!! Nothing like being sober. I've figured other method relieving life's issue besides boozen down. I pray, have faith, wait upon the Lord. In his time, I've had my prayers answered 🙏
I wish my late husband never found his way back to the bottle n drugs.he was a great man till......then.... Please keep Believing
Good for you Angella. Jesus got you, rest in him.
I'm happy to hear your doing better.

Liquor was the only love I've known
But you rescued me from reachin' for the bottom
And brought me back from being too far gone
You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You're as sweet as strawberry wine
You're as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
I've looked for love in all the same old places
Found the bottom of a bottle always dry
But when you poured out your heart I didn't waste it
'Cause there's nothing like your love to get me high

R.I.P. Ms. Etta James.
Actually the song was written for and originally recorded by David Allan Coe, in 1981

Nice, Chris.
Exactly.
It was originally written in the early 80s by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. Not to say that the melody and chords weren’t inspired by Etta James’s (I’d Rather Go Blind) because when George Jones performed it in 83 it was a western melody
I had to catch myself from doing the "I'd rather go blind" ad libs 😂

His song made me realise I was in a bad relationship after 10yrs and it helped me through the break up. The woman he describes is everything 'she' was not, took me for granted and made me feel 'little', while I did my hardest. Drove me to the point to take that bottle and then I heared his song. Sober for 4 month's now and happy with my 2 kittens. Such a sweet little song can make you realise the hardship of the world you live in at that moment!

Funny you ask that.. Look up a guy on here his page is Dons Tunes (i believe) and he JUST TODAY posted those songs side by side... Its Amazing.

@Annie
But the real question is, Was George Jones version of this song 1st or Ettas, Id rather go blind.. thats your homework for tomorrow, class is dismissed. 😁😉
One* Love Etta James version was released 1968 George Jones wasn’t until 1987
Sitting in prison for 24 years, since I was 19 away from everyone you love. You realize love is the greatest gift given to us. Unfortunately for some its too late and for others we fail to realize that beautiful woman laying next to us. Appreciate her while you can, or you'll be alone. Music like this brings out the truth.
God bless brother
Ricky Serna WOW!! God Bless you!!! Music got me through my darkest days. Have Faith!!! Hebrews 11:1. Faith in Action
