First day impressions:It arrived in a waist high box. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 Each dumbbell was in its own foam box within the shipping box. Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.
Surprised Bowflex hasn't refreshed their product yet with so many other companies improving their OG design.
Coop, always appreciate the videos you and your team make. Keep up the good work.
Finally got to these ones after claiming you reviewed them all. I bought these in January 2022 due to being on the cheaper side as I bought the 71.5lb version. I knew I would max out the boflex ones quickly as I was over 50lbs on some lifts when I previously went to the gym before a 5 year break. The paint on the plates has chipped off in some spots but I personally care more about function than esthetics. I have had it so that the remaining plates in the stand get misaligned when lifting out so occasionally have to fiddle it to put the dumbell back in. Also, the small plates do like to not be up straight sometimes causing issues putting it back in, but minor issues for me. The holder hasn't broken so far. I've been using them 3-5x a week and good to see another confirmation that I made the right choice as this was my first purchase to add weights to my gym.
I have owned a set of Bowflexs dumbbells for 20 years. I have used the set for daily for all of those years. I have had zero issues.
Great review. I’ve had Bowflex for over 10 years and four moves. Never had a problem with them. But excited to try these.
Literally bought the Bowflexes 3 days ago, then saw this lmao. The Bowflexes just happened to go on a sale (relative to their usual $429 price), and maybe this is why! Nevertheless, cancelled thoes and bought these instead. Got these for about $330 and free shipping as well! Thanks coop!
Finally the ativafit getting some love. I bought them back during the pandemic because they went to 71 and were the only ones available. I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
Shame that they dropped the weight from 71.5 to 66, though.
I just upgraded to power lock 90s, but kept these because they work with the hyper bell bar, so now I have a 150 pound adjustable barbell.
I bought just one 71.5lb dumbbell also during the pandemic also for $175! Just bought another two for $270! Can’t find them anywhere else for less than $500 for just one now
This was great, Coop! I was waiting for the Core Fitness db review but you sold me on these. I'm still going to wait to see Core but if they have a sale this weekend, I might order them!!! I'd love to get the 80lb. Nuobells but I'm 66, so don't know if I'll ever need them. I can dream, can't I? lol
I'm from germany and had them 4 homegyms ago, they were called "Dialtech Elite" from a company called "Profihantel". So they are just labelled chinese clones. I loved them btw
Interesting about the patent expiration. Given international litigation costs I’m honestly surprised the original bow flex design has not been ripped off loads more.
These are 329.98 with free shipping in US now. Can't beat that price and quality. Ordered one today!
Can't beat that deal! That finally made me get a set. Can't wait for them to show up
Thank you for providing this. I am setting up our first garage gym. This is a helpful budget friendly option.
Definitely looking forward to the core home fitness. Seems like they have a track record for longevity
I got the prior version of these at the peak of the pandemic. I think mine are 72 pounds. Pleasantly surprised. No problems yet, but I'm very careful with my equipment and have never dropped them. The metal dividers seem rugged.
Powerblocks are the best man, have the full 90lbs and it’s such a tank, feel like I’ll be able to use them for literally the rest of my life.
What company makes the metal dials for the Bowflex as mentioned in this video 6:40. Thanks Nice review on a new product
I’ve seen many sets of bowflexes,
Only seen a couple that worked right.
Always seemed so simple, as you stated, they consistently failed in upgrading an obvious Achilles.
These exact dumbells have been available in the uk for 15 years or so with various branding. I’ve had a set for 12+ years and they are great for all the reasons Coop says, preferable to my Bowflex 1090’s which were heavier but unwieldy and broke via one of the plastic disks.
what are they called currently?
@@williamhenderson7201 mine are “Selective Dumbell”, I know Everlast do a version.
coop could you review the soloflex? it’d be interesting if you reviewed older home fitness equipment as a historical thing
As a previous Soloflex owner myself, I'd love to see that. It did the job but was pretty miserable to use. Almost nothing was ergonomically correct. The bands would break too. It's too bad they never really evolved it.
Coop, ya need to try a review on rock weights and their dumbbell molds!
I bought the iron masters and I’m excited to try them out!
I still love my Ironmasters and they are the BEST with only one downside being that it takes a little time to change the weights.
But that's the ONLY downside, and not a concern for me at all. It doesn't take that long anyway.
You won’t regret but the dial selector has its benefits.
Interesting video I was wondering if you every do reviews on adjustable kettlebells
He did one on like 10 different kettlebells about 2 months ago.
I actually bought just one for $175 from someone selling it during the 2020 pandemic and I’ve been telling people for years this is one of the best ones! Mine goes up to 71lbs though and I still need to buy the other one to make it a pair 😂
He’s right. I was knodding behind the camera..since we know each other so well I will hit that follow button 😂😂
Hey Coop, do you ever see someone creating an adjustable dumbbell that goes from 55lbs to 90#? I like having my individual 5-50# dumbbells but want so bad to have an adjustable set that is just 55# and jp.
Your mustache is so perfect it doesn't look real Congrats! Well done! :)
Any plans on doing the Gr8Flex adjustable dumbbells?
For what it is weight wise and as an alternative to bowflex's version I think this is a great product. That being said I wish these came in at least a 80lb version to compete with nuobell or even 90lbs to compare with bowflex 1090's.
They have an 88lb version
@@TacticalToolbox link?
Nice video, but I’m just looking for a really cheap old school set, where you put different rings on the ends of the bars, but one that is going to be safe and reliable: last a long time and not fall apart and onto my toes. I’m new to strength work, is there actually a different name for this sort of thing, or would they also be called “adjustable dumbbells”?
I have these and they are very nice i need 100lb adjustables now
Hey can you do a review on Trulap 8592 adjustable dumbbell they look like a game changer
We need a review of the Trulap 8592 adjustable dumbells ASAP! Conceptually, they look like they are the best option on the market, by far. But they’re so new, I’m scared to be the Guinea pig lol.
Can you review the Octabell Adjustable Dumbbells by Bolt Fitness next.
3:57 - "Fifty-five point two and a half pounds."
So that's 55.2.5 lbs LOL
Please make a review of core fitness adjustable dumbbells
When is the Core Home fitness review coming?! There's a sale this weekend 😅
Coop, let’s see a review of the NordicTrack Alexa enabled adjustable dumbbells. I could see that being entertaining either way.
S/O Average Joe bowflex upgrades. And powerblock upgrades
Have you used the trulap adjustable dumbbells?
I'm still a powerblock fan, but thanks for the video
Would you choose these dumbbells over the Nordictrack ones?
Still waiting on that core fitness review!
Can you do a review of tge Braingain Octagon adjustable Dumbbells (90 pounds)?
Adjustable dumbbells look brilliant and probably better value for money. It's just if they can break... then they will.
I need the Rep Blackwing review STAT
Now to review the trulap 8592 adjustable dumbbells...😅
Have you tested the FitRx adjustable dumbbells yet??
Nonzero Gravity PowerDyne Adjustable Dumbbell Weights.... can you review these please?
For the numbering it would have been better if they just put kilos instead of pounds. Personally I'd be happy if all gym equipment could just switch over to kilos so we could have a universal standard
The 71.5 pound versions that I bought actually are listed in kgs
Average Joe innovations makes the metal handle for the Bowflex adjustable dumbbells. I have the 30mm handles for the powerblock EXP dumbbells and LOVE the knurling. So if anyone has broken or wants to upgrade their bowflex ones he is probably the best person/company to use.
A week after this video and these dumbbells are down to $329.98 free shipping.
The mustache keeps getting bigger and bushier!
So what do you do with all the fitness equipment and weights that you buy or that these companies give you to review just curious? Do you literally have like 10 shipping containers in your backyard filled with weights and machines or what?
65 is not an even number btw (unlike 66, ironically). Solid review, thanks!
Ive had the 1090s for +/- 10 years and think for a home gym, you need more than a top 55 or 65 lb db. Do yourself a favor and skip these and go right for a set that tops in the 80 to 100 lbs range.
still waiting for the core home fitness adjustable dumbells
I'm going to keep commenting about the hat until it's recognized lol
Does the cradle fit in a bow flex stand?
I can’t confirm this, but they have their own stand
Why would people prefer a knurled grip over this rubber grip? Rubber seems so much more comfortable for your hands.
Try Ankr from Kensui Fitness !!
3:55 "55.2 1/2 pounds" haha
Anyone know european reseller for these?
Love the channel and home gym content in general as extra motivation, but its getting to a point where every 3rd vid is one on adjustable dumbbells. Think everyone and their dog has got a pair by now..
Nope- Not true..... Used to work out, life got in front of me, now interested in getting back in. Doing my research and Coop's vid's are helping me. POINT: There's always a "new" kid on the block looking for info. Thanks Coop for all the content.
They can’t ship to Canada .
55 point 2 and a half pounds?
Bowflex has the 552 pair for $199 through mygymusa right now, so a lot better of a deal...these are double that.
Don't waste your money. I bought some during the pandemic and they barely lasted 2 years. The spin lock mechanism wears out and the plates start falling out. I couldn't find a fix anywhere online
I’m so confused, whenever he mentions Bowflex he only mentions the 552’s and never the 1090’s, are 1090’s not a thing anymore? Did I miss something? Bowflex definitely has the option to go way higher weight wise.
The 552s are the comparison for this price range
@@42n3quarters ahhh!! Gotcha but I feel like whenever he mentions adjustable dumbbells and mentions Bowflex he only ever says 552’s. Just an observation that I was curious about.
Shane Gillis reviewing home gym equipment
552 on sale at target for 175$. I know they’re shit but under 200$ for adjustable dumbbells is hard to beat. I’m torn
The 55's are just not heavy enough for the average person. I don't see the point to getting them. You need dbs heavy enough at least for five rep sets. Almost everybody is going to need to get at least into the 60 lb. range for that, once they lift regularly for a while. Sure, you can use a barbell for all your heavier sets. But its hard on the shoulders doing heavy barbell benching all the time. Switching to dbs for a lot of your benching makes a huge difference.
Heavy lifting in general can be bad for your shoulders, joints, etc. long term. Not sure what data you have about what humans lift on average. Not everyone needs heavy dumbbells and there are many different styles of training that lends itself to lighter dumbbells.
@@jmagnum15 I am not talking about doing heavy singles all the time (which would not work well with dbs anyway). I am talking about basic, foundational strength work, as with 5 to 8 rep sets. Almost any guy would need heavier dbs than 50 lbs. for that. Hell, I am in my 60s and not strong and I use dbs iin the 60 lb. range.
They’re currently 399
9:04 umm… that’s orange lol
He used AverageJoeInnovations video but doesn’t tag him…
Ironmaster is still the king.
I started with bow flex 552 that I got used. These days I have IM 75s but the bow flex still have their place for supersets. And iron master changes aren’t that quick even with practice. For the quality it’s a compromise I’m happy to make but IM do have some issues. To be fair, they can obviously be upgraded but it’s a different price point to this or the BFs. I’d recommend IM to anyone but they’re quite a cost commitment.
They will always be the kings

$0.37 per pound. Not a bad price.
Price is more like $2.50 per pound
66 is an even number...
Boom goes the dynamite
I wonder when Powerblock and Ironmasters patents expire. Lol I wanna see all the chinese copy cats.
Who the hell wants to work out with 17" dumbbells??
11-66lbs = 5kg - 30kg looks better than 11-66 lol
Almost TOO many interchangeable DB options these days. ALMOST :)
🙄 adjustable dumbbells plz give me actual good cool gym equipment
Supports this but talks shit about keppi
What’s wrong with Keppi?
Not available in Canada
I gave in. Sold.
