Thank God for you! So many black dark skin people lie about the new supergoop sheer mineral sunscreen and say that it doesn't leave a cast. One black doctor was trying to say wait 5 minutes then the cast will go away! I don't know why these doctors and youtubers are lying!
@@benenon You may be right; I'm learning to pay attention to application process and amounts when these products are reviewed. Thank you for your thoroughness.
I loved this review. I am dark skinned, just about your complexion with very...very oily, acne prone skin. Your review has given me hope to find a sunscreen that might actually work for my skin type and our very tropical climate, without leaving me looking like a ghost or an oil factory. Thank you so much.
The struggle is real finding mineral sunscreen for dark skin! The Olay Regenerist Mineral SPF 30 was a game changer for me - most transparent SPF (I see you reviewed it a couple days ago!). It seems like there are a handful of mineral sunscreens that have pretty reliable transparency for melanin-rich skin (based on reviews I have found, top of my list would be: Olay, Replenix, some Cotz, Bea) - now the struggle is finding one that has a good finish for oily skin type! If I could find a mattifying or at least satin finish and non-greasy/non-heavy formula for us oily, acne-prone black women…it would be game over! EDITED TO ADD: I tried the Cotz vanishing tinted SPF 50 face sunscreen that Benenon reviewed awhile back and I think that is more transparent than Olay Regenerist.
@@benenon I haven’t tried it personally. Another UA-camr, The Style and Beauty Doctor, seems to consistently put it at the top of the ‘cosmetically elegant’ sunscreens she has tried on her blog and UA-cam channel: www.thestyleandbeautydoctor.com/2020/06/the-best-mineral-sunscreen-for-dark-skin-ive-tried-so-far/
I don't remember who's recommendation I bought the Pipette sunscreen off of, but I'm fighting mad about how that ish makes me look PURPLE! 😂 They big time lied about the lack of cast it leaves, no amount of waiting take it down. It also feels/looks *so* greasy on me while simultaneously being so dry?? It's going in the trash, smh.
The Replenix sunscreen was perfection. It was similar to Dr. Dennis Gross' Sheer Sun Spray. Both of them were minerals that left absolutely no white cast. Unfortunately, both have been discontinued.
I llooked around their website, it appears it was reformulated with the addition of titanium dioxide, and repackaged. The reviews are terrible for the new formula (most from people who loved the original formula that was featured in this video).
Another great review. I agree with now you categorized the La Roche Posay. I didn't like it as well. A little speedy but utter garbage. I smiled and held my breath as where you put the Cotz Flawless because I just placed my order two nights ago. So glad you put it in "Give me more" 🙂Thanks again.
Wow! I tried most of the same sunscreens and will rank them the same. I have combination skin and a shade lighter than you. Your rankings are so true to me.
@@benenon I recently tried Cotz flawless after seeing you on another vid and I must say I was truly impressed and it’s my fav so far. Keep up the good work.
So sad there's no mineral loves, that's what I'm looking for. The asterisked mineral love doesn't count for me because I live in the Caribbean so winter love isn't it haha.
My face had a strong reaction to the Versed sunscreen too. Also it wasn't smooth it had a texture that felt like sand was in it. Later on I did come across something saying that some mineral sunscreens will have a gritty texture. It's rare to find a fully mineral sunscreen that's not micronized and doesn't have a white cast. It's pretty much impossible from what I've researched. Especially when you pull up a picture of zinc oxide it looks like baking flour, pure white. So I don't know. I use color science sunscreen it absolutely does have a cast. But in the grand scheme of things it's not bad for mineral sunscreen standards.
Before I share the finish I'll just let you know a little bit about my skin. My complexion is a little lighter than yours and my foundation shade in Mac is nc45. I have acne prone skin and it starts to get oily by the middle of the day. Also I am a MUA. I've tried two different sunscreens from color science. The original sunforgettable and the tinted sunforgettable flex. The original would be classified as a satin finish. (On my skin type it eventually turns dewey). It would definitely leave a cast on you it leaves a slight white lavender cast on me. It eventually goes away but I just think that's due to a lot of the sunscreen rubbing off. If you were to try one I think you should try the tinted version. I picked up the last two deep shades there isn't much of a difference in the shade depth. This product is very opaque it would be classified as medium to full coverage foundation. The color is neutral and doesn't lean yellow or pink. I think going the tinted route would be your best option and even further you could get some pigment drops to adjust the tones and undertones if you wanted. I do think color science is worth it personally for myself I have worked so hard to even my skin tone and get rid of my hyperpigmentation. I spent way too much money on dermatologist visits and time and research for my hyperpigmentation to come back. So I will continue to use color science because if I get a pimple it doesn't hyperpigment when I use color science.
Correct me if I am wrong but seems like sunscreen need some time to be effective after application. So you still have to wait around 30 mn before going outside
most US sunscreens have instructions that say you should wait 15 minutes before sun exposure. From my research its not necessarily because the sunscreen has to "activate" to be effective but more so that it give the sunscreen time to dry down
I have super dry skin but I found the neutrogena hydroboost to be waaay too oily/greasy which is so weird because it sounds like your oily skin didn’t mind the finish. I hated the fragrance too and omg my eyes hurt for the next couple days after using it once.
Thanks for sharing!! I mostly wore it in the summer without moisturizer under so that may be why i didn't thing it was too greasy... not sure. The fragrance and eye stinging was terrible 😔
I have dry skin too and i had the same experience with the neutrogena, too greasy and it burned my eyes. I tried avoiding my eye area but after 30 minutes my eyes started to burn. Do you have a recommendation for a sunscreen that works for dry skin and doesn't burn the eyes?
@@anthoniaeko8835 I’m honestly loving the kose suncut uv essence (gold super waterproof). Don’t be scared by the alcohol unless you’re sensitive to it, it’s super moisturizing (way more than the isntree and other sunscreens people say are moisturizing) and never stings my eyes (literally everything stings my eyes). It’s also one of the cheapest sunscreens you can get and in a 110g bottle!

There are a lot of satin finished chemical formulas but I have yet to find a good mineral one. 😞 How does the Bea one wear for you?

The Olay is great, but it is not water or sweat-proof.

I’d love your review of Isdin Eryfotona Ageless (tinted) and Isdin Eryfotona Actinica. A lot of black dermatologists seem to recommend those.

Great video, very innovative way of keeping the viewer glued

Excellent review. I love black girl because I have severely dry skin but totally agree that it won’t work for oily skin

No but I see it's at target! I'll add that to my list!!
Pipette is interesting. It works for my caramel skin but it is drying. Applying my Cerave helps!
I want to try the Black Girl Sunscreen Matte version, but I have acne prone skin… did anyone react to the coconut oil in it?
She said on another review that after reaching out to them, they didn't say that it was not non-comodgenic. It may bother acne.
Great video! Thank you! And you are beautiful!
I’m surprised the Black Girl Sunscreen matte didn’t break out cause it has coconut oil😭 that’s the only reason I won’t try it.
