After seeing the ad for this on TV I was tempted to buy it, and then I remembered UA-cam and checked to see if anyone reviewed it. Am so glad I did. This saved me time and money. Boy, are we consumers lucky to have a place to go for reviews of products that don't work. I have been in search of the ultimate space heater and as yet haven't found one that completely does the job. My quest continues.
*_I'm in my third season of using 3 of these Strategically placed in my mobile home that keeps us warm and comfortable without having to turn on the home's electrical heating system. Here in upstate SC, our electricity is Perhaps the most expensive in the country at over 400 a month to heat a small 2-bedroom mobile home. But using three of these in combination with a ventless propane wall heater I'm spending just under 100 a month. I will add that the three Handy Heaters I'm using this year seem to have lost a little capacity and I'm using the propane heater a little more but even so my bills are still under 100 a month using both in combination with each other._*
I just got one and Its plugged into a outlet high off the ground. I put it on at 90 and the temp do increase in about an hour. This Is a drafty back porch so It is working I don't use It when not there. Thankyou.
Thank you for reviewing this. My mom saw this on an ad on a recipe site and asked me about it. The add itself linked to a scam site with the heater under a different name but then I eventually found it by its real name at the local store. Thank you for the review. It helps to know if it will work before buying. You saved us time!
Thanks Jeff for this review, when I plugged it in I immediate smelled a burnt smell and feel that it might be fried so I unplugged and was getting ready to return to Walmart where I bought it from for a refund or replacement.
Great that your review addressed a number of questions, - that it 'supplements' the regular heating system and doesn't replace it. The add says "Efficient Output : Runs for just pennies a day," if it's 100 pennies a day, that's $32 added to your electric bill per month - if it's 300 pennies a day that adds $90 to your monthly electric bill and double all that since it's a "Double Offer" and you may be running two devices in two different rooms. Oil is expensive these days and I was looking for an alternative (even a supplement) but not a unit that burns out in 6 months or that is shoddy and typically has no-integrity in its design or its instructions or even adequate to do the job it's billed as doing. Seems more like snake oil for the unsuspecting. And you gotta really love those "It's FREE - just pay a SEPARATE FEE" deals too - so $29.99 turns into over $50 and with a whopping '60 day money back guarantee' - are they telling us it works for all of two months at least? And it sounds like at the most it won't work for much over three, four or (as we see below) not more than six months. This buyer beware. Too bad it didn't have a better track record and a reputable name (like Ford or Toyota) to ensure any measure of lasting dependable quality.
. . . . . . wants to thank you Jeff. I was just about to order one for my small bathroom, but because of your post, I'll look otherwise. Great post!!!! Many Thanks!!!
My room is upstairs and very far away from the main house heater…… We added a baseboard heater to my room….. it worked but was either to cold or wayyyy to hot. I got one of these and put it on 70 degrees and my room is perfect…… it turns on and off throughout the day and adjust the temperature…… cool little device.
Works great in our cabin's 36 sqft bathroom in winter. I only use it while im there and would never leave it unattended for long periods of time. Would not recommend as a long term heating solution.
Thanks for doing the review. I was going to buy this, but after your review, I'll just keep the small heater that I have. It will make my small bathroom about 100+ degrees.
I got mine for $45 CDN I LOVE IT!!! It heats up well and I take it in every room I go into instead of heating the whole house. It does make a loud humming noise. People complain it sounds like an airplane lifting off lol but that’s not my problem 😂 and unfortunately it’s in F and doesn’t have an option for Celsius.
I just got one, and it's in Celsius mode instead of Farenheight! LOL! The instructions in the box indicate F, but the display on the unit won't go above 25 degrees so I'm certain it's in Farenheight mode and I have no idea how to change it but there almost has to be a way.... anybody know?
In the Netherlands, we can buy similar generic heaters for E 10-15 (Euro is kinda similar to $). 500-1500 W. This model sells for 70.- Stupidity kills, but this is close to a scam. Similar generic heaters are ca. 600 % cheaper, and often more versatile and powerful. I just bought a E 15.- 750-1500 W model because I have solar panels. During the daylight hours I can add some heat to my desk space on a timer, make it more comfortable. Effective or not, at least it uses up the extra energy generated. Cheap timers allow 3500 W, so safety is no issue.
I bought these and temp control wouldn’t go above 32. It doesn’t have 3 prongs and rotation doesn’t move more than 1/4 turn and doesn’t lock. How do we get in touch with customer service? Do you have any suggestions? Bonnie
@BG-rf5nw sounds like yours is in celsius, 32° C is about 90° F. When turned do they stay in place or do they move? Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
How do you keep it 3ft from the wall. Heater goes off/on but the fan doesn't. Very noisey, cannot sleep with this in the room. Picture shows used in bathroom and manual says 'not suitable for bathroom or kitchen'. I ordered 2, they sent me 4 and billed me for 6. There were several emails back/forth and refunds were issued but I had to pay the cost of shipping back. Not recommended.
Interesting! The one I just got looks identical except that it's only 2 prongs AND I can turn it 90 degrees and it locks in place! Since the 2 prongs on mine are identical and there is no ground prong, it would serve no purpose to turn the prongs 180 degrees. Also, though the picture on the box shows 90 degrees (F I would assume) and the included instructions indicate farenheight as the temperature units for the display, mine actually won't go above 25... so it must be in Celsius mode. Arghhh! Since I doubt this is hard-wired into the unit, there must be some button combination that switches the modes but how to find out what buttons to press at the same time to make it switch may take a lot of sleuthing since they don't bother to mention that in the instructions anywhere... 😞
Ditto! Even though the included instructions clearly indicate Fahrenheit (and the picture of the unit on the box front is also clearly in Fahrenheit).... there's got to be some way to switch this thing, it's too simple a conversion for it to be hard-wired this way!
You got a bad one I just bought one tested it yesterday in my kitchen 64 45 minutes later with heater set at 70 at 45 minutes later it reached 70 degrees and shut off. Now mind you I only ran it set at 70. Not 90. It hit 70 on other side of the room kitchen size 9 by 12 ft. So it lived up to my expectations. Have a good day.
Customer Warnng: There is another appliance also marketed as "Handy Heater" with almost identical packaging and somewhat similar to look at. It's (possibly, I don't know) okay (it has a cable connection rather than an incorporated plug)..This one is BAD. I bought two "discounted" for an inflated price. After three weeks haggling with online bots, I got my money refunded via PayPal. If you want to heat your room you might as well just keep your light switched on or use a nightlight candle. The good reviews here may be scams or may be people who bought the other "Handy Heater". The Turbo 800w is the one to avoid. It's marketed via Lithuania.
Stopped putting out heat, after 6 months, worked great all winter for heating my small bathroom. As far as the distance from the heater, even after running for a long time the sides and back were still cool, heat only came out the front. Now it still blows air, everything still lights up, even the front where the heat comes out ,lights up red, but no heat comes out. I loved this heater, but really disappointed, now that it stopped working.
Just a note the old heater I used in my bathroom had a long cord and was in the way all the time, this one took up no room and is much safer than my other heater. if it worked of course.
@@Jeffreviews4u It was strange, I turned the heater on to warm the bathroom for a shower, when I turned it on it was putting great heat, but when I returned for the shower, it was colder in there than the rest of the house and it was blowing cold air, no heat at all. Banged it on the counter a couple time and it started to heat again, but then back to cold air. Now I am back to my oil filled heater with the long cord.
Sounds like it is working properly. Just running the hot water in shower will heat a room so the heater shut off so it reached temperature. Either that or the humidity tricked the temperature sensor and caused it to shut off.
I think that the Handy Heater is made by the same company as the Arctic Air. Only difference is that the Arctic Air is sold duriing the hot months like July and August while Handy Heater is sold during the cold months like January and February. Now would this Handy Heater be able to warm a room that was 40 degrees farenheight?
My only comment on this product is it does not heat very well it puts out hot heat but I have two of them in a 12 x 20 room, which would equal 6 by 10 and am running them consistently and it is not heating up the room, they seem to run for a couple minutes and then stop heating for about 3 minutes and they keep doing this I'm guessing to conserve energy which is why this thing is an energy saver, but in order to heat up this room I think I would have to have three of them in this room running consistently.
I just got mine plugged in it worked great that night but plugged it in that morning & it did notwork! The kiosk worked but the heater itself didnt come on. Im disappointed it wont work!
I received mine today and it has that is not compatible with any wall plugs in our home. The 3 prong plug is massive , it is for a high voltage appliance.
I'm surprised 🙀, the outlet heaters I bought about 4 years ago definitely warmed my room 12x16. The problem is needing to manually turn on & off plus settings. After time that small pressure pushing the settings makes the connection poor then it stops. They need remote controls for sure !
I have the first version of this heater and haven't used it much but I have it on now. I have that plug extender product too and I have it on a trim board that's part of my room. seems to be working. The room i'm in now once used to be two rooms so I doubt that this little heater will heat it up. My 1500 watt oil filled heater struggles with heating this room up.
I bought this for my Dad dec2023, works well but it has been turning on by itself , I know there’s not a temp setting for it to go ON. I literally woke up and was in the room it was plugged into and it went on all by itself not sure why
I would love to see it plugged into a watt meter. I have a 1500 W heater that works correctly, but it's 1m high and weighs 15 kg. And it actually draws 1500W
I bought 2 of them. They both make clicking sounds periodically. The heat is not consistent. It's like it gets hot then warm then hot etc. Yours do that?
That is the ceramic heating element heating up and shutting off. It is normal at higher temperature settings. Put it at lower settings it won't click as much.
800 Watts of power, has in limitations. Especially when considering, that the calculation used when calculating the heat requirements of a living floor area is 64 watts per m2. This little heater will have it's work cut-out, trying to heat a room with a living floor area of 12 - m2. (Twelve square meters) or ca. 10 by 10 foot. Also the room's insulation quality has an impact on the heating ability of a heating unit. Done buy a pint in a half pint pot!!
As a worker for Walmart, I saw this exact item, and knowing Walmarts reputation, I had to check. Needless to say, you didn't disappoint. And hope you got a refund for that trash.
I was looking up this heater decided to watch your video on it was wondering how good it was? I found out my local Ace Hardware has it for 29.00. I was thinking of checking on getting me one for my bedroom. Do you think it would do ok for a bedroom?
Nah... the fan is constantly blowing the heat forward, and when you turn it off the fan keeps running for 30 seconds or so after the heating element is turned off to cool the unit down before shutting off completely.
I picked up one of these today in the UK, where it never gets very cold, but now that I'm getting old and skint I'm feeling the cold a bit more nowadays, I think multiple crashes and many broken bones and back, along with doing zombie impressions 8 times so far, could have something to do with feeling the cold nowadays, but with it set at 20 degrees it soon warmed up my 10x12.5 room pretty quick, the other room approx the same size with no heating was at just under 10 degrees, and it's hardly using any electric compared to my electric oil radiators, a few quid for a money saver like that is the best news I've had in a long time, it's 3 degrees outside, but the heater will take good care of myself. Happy Christmas, everyone 🎄 Other religious holidays are also available! 👍
Mine does that when it reaches the set temperature. It heats back up once the temperature drops...possibly this is way is happening with you. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂 👍
@@Jeffreviews4u Yeah it seems to be random whether you get one in C or F mode... I'm sure there's a way to switch modes, but no idea how so far. That's the issue that led me to your video here. Funny thing is, some people got 1 that's in C mode but expected and wanted F (like myself) while others got them in F mode and wanted it in C mode! Why there seems to be no simple way to switch the mode is beyond me, but there's got to be a way somehow. 😕
I wonder how much electricity it uses. $$$$ ? Doesnt seem like 800 w is much. I have bigger hot air ones that are 1500 and they dont do much to heat a room in winter.
I'm not sure on the electricity consumption but you're right, these little heaters are meant to supplement room heat and not be the primary heat source. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
Before starting this video _and_ halfway through, I got a ad for this heater with ridiculous claims like "will raise the temperature from 10°C to 23°C in minutes" using "at almost no cost", therefore this heater will be "seen in every household in 2025", nonsense such as "developed by 2 plane turbine engine engineers" who were offered "millions" for their novel inventions. And your video is several years old 😁
Your bathroom outlets are installed correctly - The ground is supposed to be ABOVE the hot wire in case water should drip down the inside of a wall. Most American outlets are installed upside down.
Just buy a normal size space heater if you want to heat an average size room. There's a sucker born every minute. It might work if you want to heat a closet. Most of that seen of TV stuff is junk.
I just bought 3 a few days ago, the one in your video goes to 90 degrees yet the new ones only go up to 32 degrees, also yours go red and none of mine do and mine say that you can use it in a bathroom which every idiot knows you don't plus no one has a socket in a bathroom, i found the heaters to be absolute crap, maybe in a room of 2 square feet they might work, anyone that says their good must be getting paid to say it.
@georgemacdonald5282 sounds like yours is in Celsius. I agree, these little "heaters" don't perform as described. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍 🙂
This will triple your Electric bill, or even more, good if you take to your office, , where you don't have to pay for the Electric bill, and the advertisement on TV says Pennies per day, so $20.00 US dollars = 20,000 Pennies
I laugh when I see ads like the one for this on tv knowing full well that the most heat you're going to get out of a 120v electric heater is 1,500 watts or 5,120 btu's and that's with a unit not stuck against an outlet. Basically if you see an ad with someone saying "taking the world by storm" you know it's BS, lol. 800 watts might be enough to get your hands warm...if you sit close enough to it, lol. My hair dryer has more power than that. Ah well, fools and their money are soon parted. Remember Richard Karn and those Eden Pure heaters with their "cured" copper...whatever that is, since there is no such thing, LOL! Like the dinky tv antennas saying they're specifically for HDTV when the manufacturers know full well a plain old 30 year old set of rabbit ears will do the job just as good, if not better for half the price.
I bought one and when ordering next thing I know I have ordered two I tried cancelling no response the heat is a total con doesn't do anything warm a large room no chance I tried calling and used up my phone minute emails don't get answer just get email not except
Everyone that remembers Physics from school (Thermodynamics) , would know that, just by looking at it! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! (But thank you for showing us.)
It's not that this won't work it's just not complete. If more outlets in a room had the heater on them, atleast 3, and a phone app controlled them it could easily heat any room very quickly.
It makes 800w of heat but only draws 250-350w. It cycles thr heating element so it is not on constantly. Figure burning three incandescent lights occasionally. Would you see that in your electric bill?
After seeing the ad for this on TV I was tempted to buy it, and then I remembered UA-cam and checked to see if anyone reviewed it. Am so glad I did. This saved me time and money. Boy, are we consumers lucky to have a place to go for reviews of products that don't work. Always use the unit right side up with the controls on top. The plug swivel is to allow it to adapt to receptacles installed in either orientation
Thanks for the tip!

I would love to see it plugged into a watt meter.
I have a 1500 W heater that works correctly, but it's 1m high and weighs 15 kg.
And it actually draws 1500W
I don’t think the plug is intended to rotate just a quarter turn. I think it’s intended to be turned 180 degrees in case the outlet is upside down.
What about the remote control that comes with it?
@@robertdurrwachter that may be a newer unit. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂
@@Jeffreviews4u Current ones do have a remote control, it basically mirrors the controls on the top of the unit exactly.
Incredible review
@@facep15 glad you liked it! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🙂 👍
So how many square feet was the larger room
How do you change it to Celsius
Does it have a tip over switch.
No, this plugs directly in the outlet and hangs on the wall. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
As a worker for Walmart, I saw this exact item, and knowing Walmarts reputation, I had to check.
Needless to say, you didn't disappoint. And hope you got a refund for that trash.
Lol. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
I got one bought from the ad on my IPad. Mine doesn’t even turn on.
Can you do a review on the heatwell portable heater
them. Should have put the thermometer up a little higher heat rises u got that sitting on the floor
GREAT LITTLE HEATER -SAVES ME A TON OF $$$$$$$$$$$$$
Very cool! Thank you for stopping by and commenting.
@@Jeffreviews4u no problem ----had the heater 2 years and works like a charm and much cheaper than any heat pump
I was looking up this heater decided to watch your video on it was wondering how good it was? I found out my local Ace Hardware has it for 29.00. I was thinking of checking on getting me one for my bedroom. Do you think it would do ok for a bedroom?
It does enough to take some of dampness out and takes the edge off coldness.
@@normt430 do u think it's worth getting
Looks like it’s designed to be facing upward or downward. And you need to push to change direction.
Too close to the wall may overheat and burn the drywall behind it?
Nah... the fan is constantly blowing the heat forward, and when you turn it off the fan keeps running for 30 seconds or so after the heating element is turned off to cool the unit down before shutting off completely.
Happy Christmas, everyone 🎄
Other religious holidays are also available! 👍
mine has started fanning cold after I used it for about 10 hours.
Mine does that when it reaches the set temperature. It heats back up once the temperature drops...possibly this is way is happening with you. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂 👍
@@Jeffreviews4u hope so. dropping to 26 degrees. my rooms aren't good for the cold.
@@Jeffreviews4u no change.
@ghostface4404 that stinks. Sounds like yours broke. Hopefully you can exchange it or get a refund.
@@Jeffreviews4u yup.
Is your vent for the ac in the ceiling or floor and did you block the vent?
@@HandyTim mine is on the floor and no it doesn't block the vent. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂
@Jeffreviews4u blocking the vent prevents heat loss
The front of the heater is restricted by that brown glass bottle
Heat rises too. So if the other rooms are drafty the heat will escape while cool are returns on the floor.
Mine only goes 32 degrees how can I raise mine up
Are you in Celsius? That would be about 90° Fahrenheit.
Comparing to the first original version, which one is louder?
Think about it. Buy a kit version of this that is controlled by an app. In one winter it's paid for itself.
The expression on his face already reveals the truth.
They don't work a red light.
I want to know why they do not work.
My heater read CC as I was turning the temp down. Why?
Cooler/CC
If you tap power button after powering it up you enter CC Mode. It supposedly bypasses timer and thermostat.
Just buy a normal size space heater if you want to heat an average size room. There's a sucker born every minute. It might work if you want to heat a closet. Most of that seen of TV stuff is junk.
After 3 months of normal use, the fan is not blowing the heating elements. Fan failure.
I've heard from a few people that this happened to them as well...no good. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Ok so i sit in my car w blo dryer trying to melt snow off car..so glad i got wifi.
That’s bro I’m in rite thinking about buying it but nvm😂😂😂
What's up Jeff like the heater but not for me, hope all is good and keep the beer close stay safe
Lol. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
The only way this will heat a room , when it catches fire and burns your house down.,get a heater that is UL approved,
I just bought 3 a few days ago, the one in your video goes to 90 degrees yet the new ones only go up to 32 degrees, also yours go red and none of mine do and mine say that you can use it in a bathroom which every idiot knows you don't plus no one has a socket in a bathroom, i found the heaters to be absolute crap, maybe in a room of 2 square feet they might work, anyone that says their good must be getting paid to say it.
@georgemacdonald5282 sounds like yours is in Celsius. I agree, these little "heaters" don't perform as described. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍 🙂
How much money will cost you a day to run this toy
Like cycling on/off three incandescent lights. You won't even see it in your bill.
Mine is blowing cold air😪
Raise the temperature!
Thanks 👍🏽
I will not be purchasing this...
I need something effective.
A fart would heat up a bedroom better than that. Preferably, a guest bedroom.
Lol. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
Well I wouldn't think putting it on 70 world increase the room I would think it needs to be on high.
I hope you wasnt wanting to heat the whole house its a 5in by 5in 😅 this is desk warmer bath room maybe but not your dungeon😅😅😅
Mine doesn't work
@@chileanfolkmaria that's a shame.
Everyone that remembers Physics from school (Thermodynamics) , would know that, just by looking at it! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! (But thank you for showing us.)
Cool channel 777
Thanks for the kind words! 😃 👍
@@Jeffreviews4u for sure bro Happy Holidays be good and keep dropping the thought provoking insightful × intelligent content 🎅 😆 👌 🙌 777
It's not that this won't work it's just not complete. If more outlets in a room had the heater on them, atleast 3, and a phone app controlled them it could easily heat any room very quickly.
the only thing i can see will increase is my util bill by probably by a .25% or more.
Lol. It will increase that's for sure. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
It makes 800w of heat but only draws 250-350w. It cycles thr heating element so it is not on constantly. Figure burning three incandescent lights occasionally. Would you see that in your electric bill?
I WANT TO BUY THIS PRODUCT, BUT SOUNDS LIKE ITS NOT WORTH IT. I WANTCTO PUT IT IN A SMALL BEDROOM.
