SHE PULLS HER FUR OUT: No, it really does not hurt her. Normaly when a Doe is coming close to having her kits her body will produce and release a higher amount of estrogen hormones within her body. The increase of this hormone causes her fur to become looser and easier for her to tear it out to make a nest for her babies. Sometimes Does may get a boost of estrogen days or weeks before the babies are born so they may pull "early" as some won't even pull at all or pull as a physical habit of being given a nesting box if given one. (please excuse my poor grammer.)

So beautiful how the mama knows she has to get ready and make a soft bed for the upcoming babies ☺️ and that fur pulling looks painful 😣 such a caring mom! 💕
Not painful for them at all! About a week before and after they give birth their body is releasing a hormone that makes it super easy to pull their fur without hurting them. Kinda like extreme shedding. Useful if your doe didnt pull fur for her nest, you can just go up and pull some from her Dewlap or rump yourself. You barely have to pinch it and it comes out. And she is perfectly fine with it.
It's completely normal, my paw-paw has a farm with bunnys and whenever the mothers give birth they do it in a box where they pluck alot pf fur so the bunnys are nice, warm, and safe. But whenever it gives birth you should try and wait atleast 3-4 weeks before holding a baby bunny.

We touched the baby of our rabbit back then, and they starved to death as a result. We learned that once she smelled human on her babies, she would not nurse them. We didn't make the same mistake with her second litter.

This would be very useful for a student in learning the behavior of a rabbit. It would be easy to determine how to know when a female is close to birthing if she is pulling out her own fur to make a warmer nest for her young.
Kaci Koch the funny thing is I own 2 female bunnies, we've had them for 6 years and the smaller one always pulls out her fur even tho she obviously isn't going to give birth
+Rebeca Bejenariu When a rabbit pulls out it's own fur when it's NOT going to give birth, that is a very sad thing. It means it's extremely stressed out, depressed and anxious. You should separate your two rabbits. Females are very territorial.
This is her first time! The next round is going to be much better organized. Plus, she's gonna clear ALL the fur from her belly starting halfway in her gestation period. "15days out of 33" our rabbits gave us litters 7 in their first year and the dad mated with 4 of his daughters. We ended up selling 65 live one and freeze 70!!! We decided to only keep a female in a cage and two absolutely beautiful tiny males running around the property. They keept humping the cage so we gave them as present the minute we had a chance! Quite an experience let me tell you.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It truly is amazing how mothers look after their young. Please give her a thumbs up to have UA-cam share more. Thank you.
SporadicLps because birth has a lot of blood, and the wire bottom keeps everything more sanitary believe it or not, there's a lot of blood you don't see because it's fallen to the bottom.
If he wants to use the wire for draining out the pee and poop of the babies, he could still put a towel, then paper, or newspaper to absorb pee then hay on top. To catch the poop and for the other things such as nesting obviously. If the mother doesn’t always stay in the cage with them he’d only have to change it like once a week, don’t forget there small little bunnies
my rabbit gave Barth to 20 but they were not full term and was still born... 3 days after that she died! I miss her a lot she was like a part of the family... bc she was. RIP Bella
I don't know why this showed up in my UA-cam but I decided to watch it. I must say I've never seen this breed of bunny before. She's huge and multi color.
Just some advice 😊 Don't use square mettle flooring as they don't have padding on there feet and they will develop sores and it is very painful and nasty for the rabbit x
Thank you for sharing. I didn't know Mama pulls her hair out To create nesting. Probably like some of us humans felt like pulling our hair out. 😊 So very interesting. ❤
Poor buns. First you shine a light in her eyes when she's probably stressed already. Then you have her drop her babies on a wire bottom cage. Not an animal lover, methinks.
I agree, wire is painful to be on for any animal. We raised rabbits and we bred 3 females at a time, because when one mom had to many you give to the mom with less, also don't bread them very long, the longer they are left with the male the more kits she will have. We kept track of who was bred with the male, no cross breeds. Seems he's needs to learn how to run his business. We bought huge crates with pans in them and cut the corners off so they can pee and poop, and down below we bought the biggest masonry mixing pans, it covers the whole under side of their cage, each day layer with straw and fly bait, and at the end of the week we bag and take to the dumpster. Rabbits only have 8 tits, and ideal is only 6 kit's. We treat animals with respect. In summer in the barn with air conditioning room, and in winter heaters. The floors are gravelly, but straw over around there cage area because sometimes their pee will miss the pans, but watch for it and move the pan according. We hung our cages from the barn rafters with cables, and to keep them from swinging we have stakes in the ground, rabbits can move around without swinging. We also built our on cages, and bought sheets of tin to cover other than corners. The females with kits had their boxes to birth and keep their kits warm. The mom puts her hay and fur for their nest. We always charted ours so we knew when it was time for birth, we added the soft hay, not straw, for bedding. You can tell when she is getting ready to birth because she gathers hay in her mouth and begins to round the hay with her head, and she will pull the fur to line so her kits are kept warm and soft.
awwww, congratulations.😍 remember to get them their shots and wormer. NEMEX is the best brand of wormer for puppies - the same stuff vets use. you can get it at Tractor Supply or sometimes the vet will sell it over the counter. you can get the shots at tsc as well. make sure to use the 5way for puppies; apparently the lepto in the 7, 9, 10, and 12way shots can cause an allergic reaction in young puppies. (according to my sister, who's a vet.) they're also cheaper: $6-$7 each and you can give them yourself ; just follow the instructions on the bag it comes in then roll the vile between your hands to warm it up before injection so it doesn't startle them. there's two ways to give a shot: intramuscularly and subcontaniously. in other words you can either poke them in the butt (hindquarters) or squirt it under their skin. I've always done it under the skin of their withers because it's largely insensitive. just pull the skin up and poke the needle in the little 'tent'. make sure to get it under the skin, not in it. you'll want to feel the needle pierce through the skin. make sure to inject all of the vaccine. The best age to do it is seven weeks for large breeds and ten to twelve weeks for really small puppies then every two to three weeks until they've had all three "puppy shots", though the new owners will be responsible for the later two shots. also VIPpet (look it up for more details. and as far as I can remember they changed the name to PetVet or something like that.) does rabies vaccines for around $15 with no other charges if you decide to keep any. (a licensed vet has to do rabies vaccines.) oh, and make sure to handle them every day or they'll end up freaky. and never sell them before eight weeks and whatever you do don't sell them for less than $50 even if they're mutts. ever. free puppies almost always meet a tragic end. anyway, best of luck. :~)
I found a litter of rabbits at the end of my garden . My niece who was then 6 loved every minute of them. when it was time and they were bigger we gathered them up a took them to a local cemetery to run around with the other wild rabbits and be born free up there. Nature is truly beautiful
I wish you would have updated us on how well they did; how the mom did with feeding them; how many survived, etc. So interesting!! 18 cute babies. Great job to the mommy. She was so fast at work attending to each newborn one. My heart skipped a beat when she was stepping on one; so glad it didn't seem to be hurt by it.
I take my comment back completely. I just looked through your videos and these were bred to be meat rabbits, not pets. So, no, none survived after you fattened them up just to fatten your own tummy up. What's wrong with people? You saw these animals being born!! How you could even eat them after that beautiful experience absolutely disgusts me.
Lexus nunez right and his dumb ass talkn bout 2 for now will go hungry like his ass cant feed the ones she cant. Lol this is why people shouldnt have pets becuase thier ass really dont care about the animals. Hes basically gonna let them die and not give a fuck about it like wow. Hes talking about letting nature take its course like he shouldve thought about that before he had them in captivity which is not natural🤔. I wonder if his mom wouldve let nature take its course and didnt go to the doctor what wouldve happened to his sorry ass.

It's surprising how quickly the babies come! In other species it takes a fair amount of time between births.
It is true for some doe but my doe Yolanda gave birth to the first bunny at dawn and the second at sunset, so I guess it depends on each doe.

6 of them did. After a week of having two nest boxes, I had to make the hard decision on who would survive.
Thank you for this!
You are welcome :)
why are they on mesh/wiring? That puts a lot of pressure on their feet, please change that :)
SporadicLps because birth has a lot of blood, and the wire bottom keeps everything more sanitary believe it or not, there's a lot of blood you don't see because it's fallen to the bottom.
seems a bit off id lay a towel on grate with hay straight wire seems a bit off to me
If he wants to use the wire for draining out the pee and poop of the babies, he could still put a towel, then paper, or newspaper to absorb pee then hay on top. To catch the poop and for the other things such as nesting obviously. If the mother doesn’t always stay in the cage with them he’d only have to change it like once a week, don’t forget there small little bunnies
That and rabbits are more likely to get sore hocks from solid flooring
Rabbits are pretty light, so it wont hurt as much as us heavy humans
Amazing coverage thank you for paying it forward.
God Bless
Thank you
Awwwww beautiful video :)
ITS A MIRACLE, I SAY...A MIRACLE!
what a sweet rabbit she is a very good mom and the baby's are so cute
wow i never knew that bunnies pull out their hair to line their nest before giving birth, thats crazy.
my rabbit gave Barth to 20 but they were not full term and was still born... 3 days after that she died! I miss her a lot she was like a part of the family... bc she was. RIP Bella

SO CUTE AND I LOVE IT!!!!!
I wish all the baby's stay safe and grow up safely. Take care of them.
Hes not hes going to eat them or sell them to get eaten
not only are rabbits prolific breeders but they deliver them fast too.
I couldn't agree more

I don't know why this showed up in my UA-cam but I decided to watch it. I must say I've never seen this breed of bunny before. She's huge and multi color.
Man!
that thing breeds like a rabbit!
She sure does lol
it is a rabbit
Food For Thought why there was blood?
Samurai Sista Are you unfamiliar with how giving birth works?

Just some advice 😊
Don't use square mettle flooring as they don't have padding on there feet and they will develop sores and it is very painful and nasty for the rabbit x
Thank you for sharing. I didn't know Mama pulls her hair out
To create nesting. Probably like some of us humans felt like pulling our hair out. 😊 So very interesting. ❤
Watching them is so interesting all the time.

the eye creeps me out,,,, thought I wanted a rabbit or cat in the future and for sure a sassy looking n cute cat :)
My neighbours had ten kids. I will challenge anyone who say they breed like rabbits again.
rabbits is cute,but not humans...
Poor buns. First you shine a light in her eyes when she's probably stressed already. Then you have her drop her babies on a wire bottom cage. Not an animal lover, methinks.
Psisky had an opinion. To call her those names weren’t nice. Leave her alone and respect her.
Wow this american rabbit gave birth to 18 bunny's that's amazing!
i dislike the wire bottom. feel sorry for the bunnies to walk around on that.
I'm guessing you didn't read the description

my dog is having puppies RIGHT NOW😍🐶
+Mindy A dang party pooper lol
Buh you got a point
awwww, congratulations.😍 remember to get them their shots and wormer.
im having puppies to but my snake ate 1 of the 7 i was devestated :'(
Did you get rid of the snake?

I found a litter of rabbits at the end of my garden . My niece who was then 6 loved every minute of them. when it was time and they were bigger we gathered them up a took them to a local cemetery to run around with the other wild rabbits and be born free up there. Nature is truly beautiful
They are so cute!!!!!!

@@NYandAZ how long have you been vegan/vegetarian for?
No wonder they’re in an uncomfortable cage like that poor buns
oddly adorable. How old are they now?
+the black wolf They are a year old now
awwwww thanks

Lexus nunez right and his dumb ass talkn bout 2 for now will go hungry like his ass cant feed the ones she cant. Lol this is why people shouldnt have pets becuase thier ass really dont care about the animals. Hes basically gonna let them die and not give a fuck about it like wow. Hes talking about letting nature take its course like he shouldve thought about that before he had them in captivity which is not natural🤔. I wonder if his mom wouldve let nature take its course and didnt go to the doctor what wouldve happened to his sorry ass.
