I get the parents grief but take a step back. He was doing stupid teen stuff and she made the choice to go too. Tragic end where there are no winners.

Eight kids on an ATV? And she was part of the group screwing around on it? I can't see how a 14 yr old kid could slow down or control an ATV with everyone's legs, arms and asses in the way.
Everyone of the kids knew they should not have been out that late riding 8 people on an ATV. There should have never been an arrest, other than the parents who owned the ATV for not having those keys secured away from teenagers.

Occupied by 8 kids. It was an accident, kids do sketchy stuff all the time. Minors should never be allowed to ride or drive without supervision. This country can't seem to adequately punish the drunks who kill people. Why ruin this kids life? A tragedy for sure where if any blame should be assigned, it's all the parents fault.
I just was never allowed to be out that late running around....my father practically had a fit when he found out we kids went to see Gone with the Wind at the matenee....

The fact is she made the decision to go. At some point, the parents have to say that she was responsible for making that decision and ultimately it had consequences. Yes, the 14-year-old should not have been driving an ATV but it’s not up to murder. This was truly an accident and she played her part in this accident. I don’t think the lawsuit is gonna go through.
Sadly, they all made a tragic choice.
It was her daughter's choice not to wear a helmet, and it was her daughter's choice to get on an ATV with 7 others with an unlicensed kid behind the wheel. Sounds 100% the fault of the girl's parents for not teaching her better. Now this statement would have been uncalled for, especially for a grieving parent, but since they're litigating and blaming the other parents, it's worth saying.
