I have that issue on my 2nd Gen taco when the truck is at a angle I get oil into the pcv valve and what helps is a oil catch can will catch most of it and is able to give you more time to get through the obstacle once it starts to fill up, that’s why I recommend a catch can to most people
I've never Rock Crawled, but I have ran a Log Skidder. Theres nothing more butt puckering when your wheel comes off the ground, and you start tilting. Especially on the side of a mountain
😂hmmmm seen lots of long travel tacomas scoot rite up chicken rock. Just another fine example of portals don't do shit if you don't have travel. Get that glorified mall crawler back to the flat lands and shoot your overland vids.
Wait so because stock Tacomas can also do it, we can’t anymore? y’all gatekeep anything and everything 🤦♂️. Let people enjoy the hobby how they want to 🤙
@tacomabeast I have more respect for people wheeling stock tacomas or any rig for that matter than I do for dinks like yourself and your God awful company. Portals are nothing but a sales pitch to new off roaders and it clearly shows in this video. You were outwheeled by 10k long travel kit vs your 20k portal abortion. Yes if you pair portals with long travel than you'll have something. But at a 30k price tag you could do full blown d60's with rear stear and have enough left to drive said vehicle to your business and take your wife out to dinner. Portals are a fad and a signal of deep pockets, they didn't work for the sxs market and the same will happen in the truck market.
You have clearly not watched our videos on portals… we have said it before and will say it again: it’s not for everyone, and it’s a new mod we want to showcase. You can go wheeling in a stock Tacoma if you want to, we’ve never said you need all the stuff we have to go wheeling. You can keep making assumptions about us based on one video if you’d like but I would recommend watching the rest of our content. And maybe don’t get so triggered over other people having stuff that you don’t like? Live and let live brother 🤙
Lookin' good. Optimistic we'll see this thing out at Best of the West in May! Montrose has some major rocks. Would be a really solid test for those portals!
I agree. Without a long travel setup, it just raises the center of gravity way too much. He tips way more than the other trucks and causing situations where he is sucking oil. Like portals in this situation has actually decreased his wheeling ability here.
It’s awesome to see some newer Tacos out crawling. I’m in SoCal and I have a JT and roll with a bunch of JTS. It would be cool to link up to show Jeeps and Tacos can enjoy harder trails together.😎
Hoping someone solves that oil pooling issue with an aftermarket solution. Obviously 99% of those trucks will never see those angles for prolonged periods of time but most engines wouldn't have the same issue which is a sad oversight
Man i have a gladiator and i love tacos too, but damn you guys make me nervous with that teeter totter IFS lol. I would shit myself, would love to see some solid front axle tacos on this.
Mateo needs to learn less is more. He’s got so much crap hanging off his truck it can’t even perform. But hey, at least it looks cool with the tent and everything else.
Maybe instead of throwing more money on the truck, take some of it off. With a lighter ride you would walk right up those. You stayed humble, listened to your spotters and made some serious obstacles. All those guys probably been there before and next time with less weight you'll make it look easy too.
You really don’t need to spend a million dollars on your rig to make it off road capable. But we like to show y’all all little bit of everything we got
@@tacomabeast It is not just Portal axles, its everything combined. The accessories are expensive. Portal Axles are actually pretty reasonable considering what is included and the competition as well as the warranty that they come with. I am barely starting to put my rig together and the $$$$ are adding up exponentially. I am hoping in the next couple years I will order portals for my rig.
Biggest thing to remember is it’s a marathon, not a sprint. We’re fortunate enough now that we can build nice rigs overnight with the help of sponsors. But our first taco took us around 8 years to finish 😅. Take it slow and enjoy the process, it’s the fun part of building out your taco 🤙

Toyota engineers would be really proud seeing how well every gen performs on these hard and difficult trails.

"it might be time for an LS3"
LMFAOOO alright man you got a customer for life for that one.
😂
Wild stuff !🔥 Pushing the limits and discovering new things.

Your spotter is your eyes. You weren't listening bro lol. Sick ride though mateo
😅
Damn $20,000! Maybe later when my pick up isn’t a daily commuter lmao
lowkey the best way to fit big tires and "regear" just yeah expensive.
IMO Marlin Crawler RCLT is a better upgrade than portals. RCLT in the front and portals in the rear is a winning combo.
@@CACressida Imagine having both!
Seems the portals are waste of money.

You need an oil separator catch can from J&L ..... Looking forward to next video
I have it on my 4Runner best best investment as well I’ll be installing oil bypass.
yeah I'm just going around in my Taco.
1000lb of unused weight that poor v6
He has a super charger in it. He has vid on it. But that's still to much weight
Unused? You haven’t seen our other videos have you
@@tacomabeast this vid was gnarly mr.beast!! Keep going!!
Mateo’s truck is an overlander. It’s impressive as hell that they got it up there. It’s evident though how much easier the lighter trucks had it
8:03
Can't buy those battle scars. Honestly one of my favorite Tacomas in the video right here.
I need rock sliders. Awesome video once again Mateo!
To much weight in the back!

Dope video! Some butt clenching moments! lol
That’s how I blew my motor with 5600 miles on it
Great video. After watching, I’m not sure I need portals. Looks like more trouble than they are worth. The other trucks did better. Benny is a god.
They’re not for everyone for sure, but they are definitely awesome 🤙
Im having the same issue! Too much weight for crawling, but those overland build and camping trips hit different 🤤
I have a upgraded sr5, I want to ride with y’all man…. 🔥🔥
Good ol’ chicken rock
Sweet video nice driving every 1
This video shows the down side of ifs. We need the straight axle tacomas back!!!! Need to start a petition!
Glad to see you share your adventures with your taco... cause I'm like nope 😅
Man i have a gladiator and i love tacos too, but damn you guys make me nervous with that teeter totter IFS lol. I would shit myself, would love to see some solid front axle tacos on this.
😅
Haha I saw you guys in the area. We passed by each other .
Driver mod needed
Big time cringe, agreed
Yeah. Watching him wheel was rough. Lotta learning to be done
I blew my engine having the truck on this very same angle for the same reason. Super close !
Wild ask but can I get the king shocks lol
So what happened after the cameras quit rolling? How did you get out and did you have to get your truck hauled to a shop?
We’ve got a part two of this coming 🤙
😒
Omg is that sandstorm taco? He's so cool
Matteo just wants to buy a new taco 😂 so he is doing his best to destroy this truck
😳
I want one!!!!!
Mateo needs to learn less is more. He’s got so much crap hanging off his truck it can’t even perform. But hey, at least it looks cool with the tent and everything else.
We definitely use everything we got on there, and have for sure trimmed down a lot since the pony express days 😅
You need to put portals on my tacoma beast. Your friendly
(RET)SSG
Another amazing video brother. What an adventure.
18:26
Happy to see someone put their tri-color badge in the lower left like I did! everyone does lower right and it made me think I messed up lmao
Listen to your spotters lol
"back up passenger"
Proceeds to cut full driver and back up.......
Need to see this bad boy in Moab!
Portals are way way overpriced. Only worth 5k for all corners imo
That price skyrocketed and it wasn’t a coincidence.
go buy the $5k ones then lol
That was badass!!! Cool to see it being put to use!!! You wheeled some crazy stuff!!!
2:42
Is that a Toyota surf?
@tacomabeast we have a fix for that smoking and oil consumption issue. Let me know if you want to check one out. Super easy install.
👀
@warfabrace what’s the fix?
i think we all need a one time 75% 74 weld portal code😄
😂
why the fuck did they give you that shitty line at the end there? seriously...
That first gen was kicking ass.
brooo you gotta release that camo bed decal!🔥
Dude! That was nuts! Absolutely loved the Taco now more than ever!!
I've got a long way to go before I attempt anything close to what you did! Amazing!
Gear oil does stink something serious 😂
That’s just the wrong vehicle for that. I’ll stick with Overlanding with my Taco.
Can’t wait for another rigs and raps in Colorado.

yuhhh first
💯
Building an overland truck for rock climbing lmao 🤣 another Tacotuber fail lmao
We built an overland truck for overlanding, we just took it rock crawling and learned a rough lesson 😂
Oil catch can needed
what’s that steering wheel you got there with the red racing stripe mateo?
Coming soon man, finalizing the model. Subscribe to our email list to find out once they come out
Need these for 2.5 gen tundras
Man. How heavy is that thing?
It's insane how much $$$$$$$$ all these rigs are. . .. but bad ass through and through!

My wife HATES this channel
😂
For 20k they definitely aren’t worth it. Just get 40s lol
Wait until you see episode 2
@tacomabeast what is that bed camper shell you have I’ve been tossing the idea of a bed rack or camper shell and I really like the one you have
This one has been discontinued but they are working on a second version that is much better!
Less talking more climbing
That dude in the blue flannel wasn't a good spotter, seemed like he kept putting Mateo on sketchy lines lol
😳
Mateo, this lifestyle ain’t for you bud. Start a fishing channel or something
Just got a flare for the dramatics that’s all 😂
@@tacomabeast I’m just foolin around, keep it up bud. ☺️
Shame your build is so heavy
It be like that sometimes
Too much weight on those trucks to be rock crawling well... change the bed to a rock crawler bed if your going to keep doing this
Learned that one the hard way 😅
What a embarrassing display that was. Hard to take you serious.
Touch some grass 🤙
